Once again it's time for Guess the Speaker!
"Well that's Trump, duh, but what is he on about?"Isn’t it terrible that a Republican Congressman from Nebraska just got indicted for possibly telling some lies to investigators about campaign contributions, when half of the United States Congress lied about made up scams
So earlier today, Nebraska Rep Jeff Fontenberry was charged with lying to law enforcement about the illegal 2016 campaign contributions he took from Nigerian princes, no really.
You can't do that, and expect not to be charged.
"Okay, the lying about illegal campaign contributions hits close to home for Trump. But what's the rest about?"
Trump is talking about the half of Congress that said he worked with Russia.
"But...they didn't say that under oath."
Correct.
"And it wouldn't have mattered if they did, Trump did work with Russia, he worked with Flynn and Manafort for example. And Giuliani. And the Trump Tower meeting. And--"
Yes yes, but Trump is trying to push the narrative he always pushes: somehow he is the best at everything yet somehow the trampled-upon underdog.
"Did Trump pretty much admit he thinks Jeff Foxworthy did it?"
Yes, he did. He offered no defense, only that other people should be arrested for telling lies to the American people.
"...Trump did that literally thousands of time in office."
Yes. Yes he did.
Tuesday's report:
71,809 new cases; around 21k fewer than last Tuesday.
Top 10:
Fuck Florida.
Texas: 5,720 new cases; 201 deaths
California: 5,711 new cases; 74 deaths
Minnesota: 5,663 new cases; 21 deaths
Pennsylvania: 3,899 new cases; 67 deaths
Ohio: 3,617 new cases; 73 deaths
Wisconsin: 2,736 new cases; deaths not reported
New York: 2,670 new cases; 59 deaths
Illinois: 2,071 new cases; 24 deaths
Massachusetts: 2,045 new cases; 26 deaths
Montana and Alaska remain in the "Severe" risk category, but elsewhere in the nation cases continue to drop. Tuesdays tend to be on the low-end of cases in the week these days, thanks to most states completely stopping reporting in the weekends, so we won't get a clearer picture of how things are trending until Wednesday/Thursday's numbers come in. I remain concerned with the long tails many states are seeing as they come down from their peaks but am trying to be optimistic with the under-12 vaccines coming out soon. South Dakota has had the worst positivity rate in the nation for a long time now (currently at 17.7%) which indicates that they're not testing near enough. They're currently reporting about 41 cases per 100k but the real number is likely far higher and Kristi Noem's just trying to ignore it until it goes away.
1,563 deaths is around 50 fewer than last Tuesday and brings the total to 748,652. Texas is still topping the list with 200+ deaths as they continue to chip away at the now 1.3k deaths separating them from California's pandemic-long total. They'll be passing 70k "masters of the pandemic" within the next few days. The nation's 7-day average continues dropping (and then bumping back up when Florida's actual numbers get dumped).

Puerto Rico leads US states, territories in COVID-19 vaccination--I will once again ask: Can we get rid of Texas (and/or Florida) and get Puerto Rico statehood instead?
Religious exemptions threaten to undermine US Covid vaccine mandates--No shit. Religious exemptions when it comes to matters of public health and safety should never be a thing.
Stay safe, folks.
Fringe branches of Christianity shouldn't be allowed to invent their own rules to the detriment of society. Hopefully California and the rest of the country wakes up to this shit. We're not just dealing with the Covid pandemic, we're dealing with a mental health crisis too.
The Trump Organization is under investigation by New York--
"You already posted that. They're under indictment now, try to keep up."
No no, this is more new shit they stepped in.
Once you open the floodgates, it's hard to put the water back.In recent months, the district attorney’s office in suburban Westchester County, N.Y., has subpoenaed records from the course, Trump National Golf Club Westchester, and the town of Ossining, which sets property taxes on the course, a sprawling private club that is perched on a hill north of New York City and boasts a 101-foot waterfall.
The full scope of the investigation could not be determined, but the district attorney, Mimi E. Rocah, appears to be focused at least in part on whether Mr. Trump’s company, the Trump Organization, misled local officials about the property’s value to reduce its taxes, one of the people said.
The Westchester investigation is being led by Elliott B. Jacobson, who spent more than three decades as a prosecutor in the Southern District, much of it in the White Plains office, where he worked with Ms. Rocah investigating white collar crime. He came out of retirement in February to work with Ms. Rocah’s public corruption bureau and cold case unit before also taking on the Trump golf course investigation, the people with knowledge of the matter said.
There is some similarity in the focus of the two investigations, although the Manhattan inquiry is far broader. (Mr. Vance and Ms. James have also looked into an unrelated private estate in Westchester owned by Mr. Trump, but there is no indication that they were examining the golf club or that their investigations overlapped with Ms. Rocah’s inquiry.)
The issue remains not just that Trump tried to negotiate a lower tax bill -- negotiations in good faith using honest data are like any other contract. The problem is when you flat-out lie on a government form, and of course, when you flat-out tell the tax assessor and the insurance assessor two dramatically different values. Trump tried to say his golf course was worth $1.5 million, which anyone who's even heard of the sport "golf" knows is false. Those tiny windmills aren't cheap.
In unrelated news, while this Vanity Fair article doesn't contain new facts, it does contain a new perspective. Trump knows the Jan 6th Murderous Insurrection Committee is going to get his communications. He's panicking, because he knows what's in them. Bannon didn't turn his documents over...yet, but he's very likely going to jail for that and the subpoena will just get them anyhow. Said committee already has reports that Bannon, on Jan 5, said "all hell would break loose" on the 6th. If he told Trump "because I'm going to make it happen" Bannon will get strung up for instigating the riot in the first place. If he told Trump, and Trump didn't act -- or, more correctly, rolled with it because he thought it would help -- private citizen Trump could be next on the stand.
Not even God will help him.
When challenging a Kzin, a simple scream of rage is sufficient. You scream and you leap.

The final Newsom recall results are in at last. They show California is getting even more polarized
Hey, that sounds like Lindsey Graham!
Neil Cavuto urges viewers not to take drug like Trump
That was from May. Of 2020. Gee, kind of a lot's happened since then. Looks like Cavuto was right and Trump was wrong.Trump said he has been taking the drug hydroxychloroquine for about a week and a half. The president, and some Fox News personalities, had earlier promoted the drug as a potential treatment for COVID-19, but the government has warned of potentially fatal side effects.
Cavuto, who has multiple sclerosis and other health issues, called Trump’s admission stunning. He warned viewers in vulnerable health that they could face serious consequences if they followed the president’s example.
“This is a leap that that should not be taken casually by those watching at home or assuming, well, the president of the United States says it’s okay,” Cavuto said.
He said he was saying it “not to make a political point here, but a life and death point. Be very, very careful.”
Trump responded on Twitter late Monday by reposting a series of tweets in which his supporters called Cavuto “irresponsible,” “foolish” and “gullible.” The president added that Fox News “is no longer the same” and said he was “Looking for a new outlet!”

UPDATE: Sen. Cheney backs this entire paragraph.
As a famous President once said, "I want you all to stonewall it, let them plead the Fifth Amendment, cover up, or anything else." Yes, that was Nixon. As Trump said,"“If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment? The mob takes the Fifth.""Based on the committee’s investigation, it appears that Mr. Bannon had substantial advance knowledge of the plans for Jan. 6 and likely had an important role in formulating those plans. Mr. Bannon was in the war room at the Willard on Jan. 6. He also appears to have detailed knowledge regarding the president’s efforts to sell millions of Americans the fraud that the election was stolen," Cheney said as the panel voted unanimously to hold Bannon in contempt and refer him to the Justice Department for criminal charges.
Cheney also said that Bannon and Trump's privilege arguments "do appear to reveal one thing."
"They suggest that President Trump was personally involved in the planning and execution of Jan. 6," she said. "And we will get to the bottom of that."
Why is Trump trying to avoid testifying? Why is he telling everyone else to avoid testifying? That sounds like some kind of organized crime. There should be a name for that. Oh, right, "murderous insurrection".
