Scott Jenson, gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota, is in an awkward position right now. A video from late last year came out with him boasting about his support from Putin on some...let's say "controversial" covid views.

Huh. Remember when a Republican would rather die than side with a Rusky?

Pence goes to the RNC and somehow isn't surrounded and lynched. In fact, he shows the semblence of a spine starting to form.

There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin. There is only room for champions of freedom
"Did he mention Trump by n--"

No.

Meanwhile Trump, having heard what Barr said...hold on.

He has now.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr wouldn’t know voter fraud if it was staring him in the face – and it was. The fact is, he was weak, ineffective, and totally scared of being impeached, which the Democrats were constantly threatening to do. They ‘broke’ him.
"Can the Legislative Branch impeach the head of the DoJ?"

Actually yes. But there was no move towards this not once ever. Barr wasn't the criminal. Or at least, not as bad. So, either Barr was afraid of nothing considering he should have known this basically never happens, or Trump is lying. Guess which one I think.

"Was Trump at the RNC with Pence?"

Fuck, no. He was at home, writing an email from what I assume would be the sofa, covered in orange dust.

"If he can keep putting out these statements, why didn't he keep is blog going?"

Because that would have made sense.

So let's talk about Trump's social media platform. Because a few back-and-forths here will actually be higher traffic.

1) Boebert announces she's on Trump's social media network...on Twitter.

She was asked if she was deleting her Twitter account. To date, she neither did so nor answered. Al the other replies were sarcastic.

2) Gettr founder and former Trump aide Jason Miller goes into extreme detail in an interview how social media can be a stronger weapon against Putin than bullets or bombs.

Does not mention Trump's platform a single time.

3) Politico's Trump social media queue finally popped and they got in!

And...found an empty platform.

Inside Truth Social, everything once blue was now a bright, jewel-toned purple. Tweets, a.k.a. posts, were now “Truths.” Retweets were now “ReTruths,” capital T. And above my username, I saw the site’s default avatar: Twitter’s cream-colored egg icon, the image given to all new users, had apparently given birth to a proud purple eagle. The rest of the site appeared familiar: Replies were still replies. Likes were still likes. Direct messages, still in development, were still direct messages. And Donald Trump was still @realDonaldTrump — followed, as of this writing, by 140,000 people, a tiny fraction of his onetime total audience on Twitter. Only one Truth appeared on his page: “Get Ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!” he wrote two weeks ago, before the app’s launch. The Truth displayed 7,750 ReTruths, 30,500 likes and 4,700 replies. (Inexplicably, unlike replies on other user posts, none of the responses to Trump’s message were visible to me.)
Gonna jump in here and say, I can explicable it, that will continue to be the case because they might have said mean things, or sarcasm the AI couldn't catch, they don't have any mods, so they can't risk Trump being mocked, insulted, or trolled. Thusly, all comments blocked.

By all means, if this turns out to be false (if other posts by Trump later show all comments) come back and tell me I'm wrong. But, um, don't hold your breath.

Put simply, there isn’t much happening on the site.

After setting up my profile under my name, a list of suggested users appeared on the screen: Donald Trump held the number one spot, followed by pages for Truth Social, the NFL, USA Military News, the Daily Mail, Sean Hannity, Kyle Rittenhouse and an account for paranormal news and discussion.

Scrolling down, I saw ordinary users and trolls on the list: @CreepyJeffBezos, @HypocriteTrudeau, @FakeHunterBiden (bio: “Celebrating Hunter Biden’s love for art, prostitutes, and laptops”).

As I scrolled through the list, another notification popped up at the top of my phone. My first follow! “LET’S GO BRANDON TOKEN ($LGBT) is now following you,” the app informed me. Tapping on the page, I found an account promoting some kind of new crypto offering, the Let’s Go Brandon Token, also described by the anonymous user as “THE PEOPLE’S TOKEN.”
Who here predicted immediately conning and grifting? Pat yourselves on the back. Literally the first thing that reporter found.

Dan Scavino, Trump’s former deputy chief of staff, appears to be one of the most active users on the site, with 74 Truths and counting. At the bottom of his feed, his first post on the site, published about two weeks ago, showed a picture of a blood-red wave crashing violently on the sea. Above a row of emojis — red heart, white heart, blue heart, American flag, flying eagle — Scavino wrote, “THERE ARE MORE OF US — THAN THERE ARE OF THEM!”
Trump lost the popular vote. Twice.

In response to a post from Nunes advising “another day with more people joining the platform,” 149 replies included messages of encouragement. “Making Social Media Great Again!” one user said. “It’s already better than Twitter if anyone can read this message!!” said another.
If anyone can read this message.

If.

This article and this article[/ulr] tell similar stories. There's a line 'round the block to get in, but once you're through the door, there's a small dimly-lit dance floor with three people on it, the same six songs on iPod shuffle, and nobody's behind the bar.

4) And of course, my favorite: Trump is furious but has nobody to yell at.

Even for a soft launch, Truth Social’s launch has been particularly soft. And after a botched rollout where most prospective users were simply added to a wait list, Trump has been grumbling about the app behind the scenes, according to two sources familiar with the matter, even as he’s tried to put on a brave face publicly.

In recent weeks, sources have heard the former president on the phone swearing gratuitously and asking things like, “What the fuck is going on” with Truth Social.

He’s repeatedly groused about the negative press and the less-than-stellar optics of the rollout, these sources said. And he’s demanded to know why more people aren’t using it—why the app isn’t swiftly dominating the competition.
To me, what's funniest about this is, if someone offered me $20 and a can of Dinty More beef stew to make something up that sounded reasonable in 15 minutes, this would have been it. Maybe with one or two "But Breccia!" and a line about Baine Bloodhoof being the worst leader in the game. Other than that, I would have, in fact, predicted Trump slouching around the halls wondering why his complete lack of effort failed to pay off.

"But Breccia! It got so many downloads!"

It did...at first. Then, nothing else.

The Daily Beast reviewed analyses of visits to Truth Social’s performed by SimilarWeb, which tracks website traffic from public and private sources. The company’s figures for the MAGA social network—while only an estimate based on incomplete data—are nonetheless anemic. Trump’s own social media platform is doing either worse or the same as other MAGA social sites like Gab—another pro-Trump competitor website that’s especially beloved by, well, Nazis—and Gettr, a platform fronted by one of Trump’s former top political aides, Jason Miller.
Yes, the guy mentioned above.

SimilarWeb’s estimates show a sharp spike of around 2 million daily visits to the site when it first debuted, before traffic dipped to an average of approximately 300,000 visits each day, putting the site on par with Gettr. Meanwhile, the far-right Gab has averaged around 650,000 daily average visits in the same time period.

The relatively light traffic could be explained in part by Truth Social’s waitlist—MAGA fans who want to join the platform have now racked up a million-strong backlog of users looking to join during the app’s soft launch. The app is also only available on Apple devices, denying access to owners of Android phones.

The extreme-right Gab, however, has managed to rack up twice the web traffic as Truth Social, despite its mobile apps being banned from both Apple and Google’s app stores.

The odd sluggishness of the waitlist could also explain why, at this early stage of Trump’s website, the MAGA fans who have visited Truth Social also don’t tend to stay very long, according to SimilarWeb’s analytical tools. The company estimates that the average visitor to Trump’s site stays for just 90 seconds—a far cry from the seven minutes users tend to spend on Gettr and nine minutes spent on Gab.
Trump can't take on Twitter. Trump can't even take on Gettr and Gab. Seth Meyers has more subscribers than Trump does.

The rest of the article is mostly about how Trump is lying about how successful the app is, despite again objective evidence to the contrary, and having no idea how computers or the internet works. And of course, I'm loving the irony that, not only is Trump not using his own platform, the only place he has to complain that nobody's using it is empty so it wouldn't matter if he did.

Trump has reportedly been telling his donors that we should put Chinese flags on our F-22s, bomb the shit out of Russia, and then loudly proclaim how it was totally China who did it and we had nothing to do with it and watch them go to war with each other.

This is an astoundingly stupid idea for a number of reasons.
1. I'm pretty sure that kind of false flag operation constitutes a war crime.
2. Nobody would believe it, even for a moment, because nobody identifies planes by trying to spot the flags painted on their sides while they're thousands of feet in the air and traveling faster than sound, and perhaps more importantly because China doesn't have F-22s.
3. Even if it worked, an actual war between China and Russia would have devastating effects for the rest of the world.

And that's leaving aside the fact that several people pointed out that F-22s aren't even bombers to begin with.

This is really the kind of stuff I'd love for the resident Trump skulkers to weigh in on.

Trump is intentionally ill-informed, a narcissist, a failure in almost everything he's tried and possibly senile. But there's all that, vs. "Chinese don't use F-22 planes, they use the J-20, and they look nothing alike". We might as well be asking if Trump is a flat Earther.

We have more news from @Edge- 's favorite convoy.

They ran one day instead of two, did two laps around the Beltway, and that's it.

Oh no, they might slow down traffic on I-695. Do you know what else slows down traffic on I-695? Days that end in "y". I'm not sure anyone noticed.

The joke of a protest march is due to separate and return, probably to claim victory over the relaxing of mask mandates which were already happening before today. In a related story, I'm going to protest slavery in America by throwing a fist-sized rock into the Grand Canyon. My voice will be heard!
