I've been on I-685 in rush hour more than I'd wish on most people. The only way they can slow that shit down is by driving in reverse.

Here's to hoping they cause an accident. Tell the cops WHY they were doing the shit that caused the accident. Ticketed as applicable.

EDIT: No one gets killed or hurt in said accident, because ZOMG POOPY WANTS PEOPLE DEAD! There are fuckers I'd like dead. Just not these fuckers.

Ah, then they have a shot. Yeah, drove through Hagerstown on I-70 to I-695 plenty of times, saw that's where they were and my mind made that connection. Well, maybe they'll make a dent, but the region, at least, deals with worse routinely. I-495 can't possibly be as bad, nothing can be.

Oh no, they might slow down traffic on I-695. Do you know what else slows down traffic on I-695? Days that end in "y". I'm not sure anyone noticed.

The joke of a protest march is due to separate and return, probably to claim victory over the relaxing of mask mandates which were already happening before today. In a related story, I'm going to protest slavery in America by throwing a fist-sized rock into the Grand Canyon. My voice will be heard!
So I know a former coworker that is a part of this convoy..... Yes, he's a MAJOR TRUMPER. He was also at the Capital building on 1/6. From the videos I've seen he didn't enter the building. He just stayed outside and talked shit. If he did I would have turned him in to the FBI.

Well, he's been vloging his experience on Facebook as part of this convoy. I would love to share a video to show you first hand what I've been dealing with down here but I'm not sure if it's against forum rules. Can anyone chime in and tell me if I can link his public Facebook video or is that against forum rules? Not trying to name and shame or bring harassment to him, just want to show you guys what kind of "fine people" make up this convoy.

Oh...so not much of a "protest" even? They just went for a joyride through the DC freeways?

Shit man, these folks suck at organizing and protesting.

Waaaaait, explain this one to me. What, exactly, does that mean? It can't possibly mean that Russians can't access sites like this anymore? Surely that can't be it? How would Shalcker do his job otherwise?

    @Slacker76

Nah, Russia will still keep special lines open for their government sponsored trolls and helping the Republican party to keep power. They want to keep their own people ignorant which will require shutting the world out. But they can't help keep American and other nations voters ignorant if they keep their lies contained within their borders.

Edit: But that does tell us there is a HIGH chance of martial law within Russia in the near future that they don't want the world to know about.

So, your average Russia is completely shut out from the outside world? No more Russians in any online games or sites (other than the paid trolls, of course)?

That has to incredibly unpopular move.

Yeah, but if they declare martial law, this will also mean that the average Russian will have no way to inform the rest of the world. It will take extra work to get information into and out of Russia.

I'm skeptical. Isn't this the same source that said Poland was sending planes? I just don't know what this would do to help Russia.

Couldn't Biden leverage the opposite, now? To basically stop internet communications coming from Russia?

it might not prevent all workarounds, but it'd certainly make things more difficult.

Plus, how far down on the Russian government's payroll do we think "troll bots" are? If Russia is having to tighten its budget i don't imagine the keyboard jockeys would find themselves with jobs for too long.

If Russia shuts off all non-government communications from the internet, hopefully the world would use that as a reason to cut all the rest of the communications from them to the point not even VPNs would accept their business or connections.

But I believe that Russia would make sure to keep the trolls online if they can. They have obviously been massively effective and caused more damage globally than his military ever could and all without the other governments ever actually retaliating. Its all reward with next to no risk and cheap to do.

If it doesn't work, Russia loses nothing.

If it does work, Russia destabilizes other nations and potentially gets one of their people appointed to government to help them and hurt their nation like he did with Trump and Brexit.

If I were in his shoes and wanted to attack the world, the troll farms would be the LAST thing I would shut down.

International news has said some carriers are backing away already. I don't even know if Biden should do anything, but he may not need to, either.

I'm thinking of it more in a way of "Biden announces push for it to help galvanize companies within the US to act, ALSO knowing that it will deal massive damage to the GOP propaganda machine, but the GOP will largely be unable to protest knowing they can't admit to profiting from Russian trolls and having no other legitimate issues with such a thing."

Don't worry. If history is anything to go by...

    1. Nothing will happen to him
    2. If anything does happen, it'll be a written warning and like 2 hours of community service that will be suspended anyways
    3. Republicans will remember that they have a memory whole and forget who Mark Meadows is, what his job was, what his job used to be, who Trump is, and will suddenly never watch the news

I deeply loathe these hypocritical asshats on a personal level though and am constantly wishing old-world curses upon them.

Pretty sure poland is going to send planes. The original announcement was premature, they were waiting for coms with US. US only approved NATO members giving ukraine planes maybe 12 hours before you posted this, after that original announcement was made about sending jets. Congress and the WH have to work with poland and ukraine to figure out funding (likely the US is going to end up sending poland more f-15s in exchange for the transfer). Depends if the funding gets blocked in congress, I'd guess, but I believe the idea is that, yes, poland will be sending jets.

Yes, I see that. More recent news than that tweet: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...aine-rcna18876

    Edit: the relevant part:
“We have been told that they are willing to donate these aircraft to the Ukrainians if they are provided assurances and a roadmap that they will be allowed to purchase advanced American aircraft in a reasonable timeframe,” Portman said.

Could we move this discussion? I only mentioned it at all because the source had recently misfired. There's a thread for Ukraine.
