I'm no environmental chemist, but isn't it far more likely that things like unfettered pollution and lax regulations on the disposal of various chemicals are far more likely the cause of low testosterone than... what I can only imagine is Carlson's conclusion that men have "gone soft" because women and minorities are comparatively less oppressed than in the past and so therefore now have lower testosterone or some similar bullshit.

Don’t know anything about JD Vance or his campaign so don’t take this as any kind of support or disapproval, but does the fact that his predictions about Trump in 2016 were wrong color this comparison? Could just say the guy looked at the writing on the wall and changed his opinion.

You are mostly correct. Being obese makes your testosterone levels go down. The study in the early aughts identified that there was a relationship between the two, but did not definitively identify the presence or direction of the causal link. The 2017 study is the one that identified which direction the relationship was effected.

Convicts in the US do get paid, some of the jobs even have stipends like cooks. And they do have a choice, they can do nothing or they can work, it isn't forced on them.
