Wonder what prompted them to delete this much. Guessing it was from the known trolls and they finally got permission to address it.

Just remember all the times we had them derail the thread for 15+ pages at a time. All those troll posts add up. Good chance this was strictly posts from a single user.

Edit: Actually, not so sure about what I said, I think fully deleted users might auto-delete all their references which would fix the threads proactively. I'm not sure what would lead the mod team to target a user and force-delete all their posts, I think account deletions are cleaner than this.

For those who don't know, mechanically speaking, "deleted posts" still exist, they're just only visible to mods. That's the problem that's happening; there's pages and pages of posts we now can't see, but the total page count includes those deleted posts, even if the post content itself was deleted there's still a reference point for it in the post order. I have no idea what's going on here but I don't recall anything of this scale when I was still modding.

Similar thing happening in the Roe v Wade thread. Just not as many pages there, so it redirects to the last available without spitting out the "page can't be loaded" error.

Given the massive numbers, I would have to guess maybe Shalcker or Yuffie (Not sure I spelled that right), outside of them and tehdang, they are the main trolls I have seen massively derailing the threads for pages upon pages (With the help of those who fed them of course).

Maybe, this thread has been going on for 5 years now and it seemed like we had the cult members coming in a lot any time they through they could troll plus all the other paid Russians over the time.

Just to sate my curiosity, I scrolled through the Elon/Twitter thread (since it was shorter) and found that posts by "Vegas82" have been purged. I assume he said something stupid enough to warrant such extreme measures, or he asked the admin to do it himself for whatever reason.

So it's not everyone in the GOP. But the GOP is trying "we aren't the ones calling for violence, because this one time we didn't call for it" despite the other times they called for violence. Despite this being Sunday when all the news shows have politicians, and despite people like Cruz and Graham decrying this specific act of violence, not a one of them suggested their party and/or Trump needed to cool down the language. Trump himself has been silent on the issue.

I'm so happy to see that. When the Trump supporters return, I recommend that each and every single one of us demand why that picture as a response to this terrorist assassination attempt is okay. They must be ignored until they respond to exactly this situation. No matter what a Trump supporter posts on any topic in Politics, the answer is "What do you think of Don Jr's post?" until they respond to that inquiry. Because until they do, they are not just supporting terrorism, not just encouraging terrorism, they are also complicit in mocking the victims.
