And the accusations over that have already been publicly been made by the NY AG. They've referred them to the DoJ. The IRS doesn't comment on audits, which, contrary to breccia's implication, are confidential.

Trump is now asking the SCOTUS to protect his tax returns from the House committee. What is he so terrified of them finding?
Him being owned by Russia, like everyone knows.

Eh, I'm less convinced of that, at least in his returns.

Don't get me wrong, I know he's got tons of Russian money because that's apparently the only countries banking system that would touch him as at least US banks basically wouldn't even allow him in the building for a meeting about a loan (sauce: A relative works at fairly large bank handling major loans like this and has all kinds of scuttlebutt about it). But I don't think that's what he's worried about. I think he's more worried they'll show that he has far less money than he claims, holds far more debt than he'll admit to, and that it will simply add to the mountain of evidence that he's had his companies and he himself has consistently overestimated the values of properties when it comes to trying to get loans etc. while simultaneously consistently undervaluing his properties for tax-related purposes.

But mostly, I think he just desperately doesn't want his actual wealth/net worth to come out since it would be a lot less impressive than he keeps saying it is.

Yeah, he probably lied about every single one of his properties like Letitia James showed in her press conference when she sued him. You know that he is definitely not worth the billions he claims he is.

To Trump, people finding out he is a loser with proof that he is a loser and a failure is a bigger deal to him than them finding out he is a traitor or any of that.

When your entire life is a lie and you built yourself up to be this major thing even lying to yourself on it, the biggest hit you can take is the truth coming out that you are a loser and the whole world knows it and you can't even lie to yourself anymore.

He would rather literally die than admit to that and take the hit to his pride.

Coming out he betrayed the nation and it's people and conned the entire GOP would be trivial to him as he would consider that being the move a good business man would do and the GOP would just a bunch of suckers and losers for being dumb enough to believe him.

"Well, see. He WOULD have been an actual billionaire if the system wasn't holding him back his entire life. He only lied to even the odds, and his lies ultimately got him into the White House so it was warranted. This poor, poor man has had to overcome so much." <- expect this shit as a response from these people. They will never question their own judgement because if Trump is a deeply flawed individual, then they too are deeply flawed for not being able to see how obvious it was the whole time.

Still love how people believe that crap when his families own tax returns that were leaked by his niece show how he was a multi-millionaire by the age of 8 and his father was illegally funneling 8-12 million per year to him into his 50's and was so bad it even cost his sister her judgeship where she stepped down to stop them from looking into it with her.

The man is literally worth less than if he never worked a day in his life and that is if he was actually worth what he claimed. The fact that it appears my butt living of VA disability is worth more than he is after you take into account his liabilities says a lot, especially if you take into account much of his worth he has no is from illegal activities and fraud from the looks of it.

Ivanka famously recounted an instance when she and her dad were walking outside of Trump tower, and there was a homeless man nearby. Trump pointed to him and said "see that guy? he has about 8 billion more than I do" because Donald was in such extreme debt. A surprisingly poignant and self-reflective reaction from Trump, but it also happened quite a while back. I can't imagine him saying something like that now.

Agreed, heard about that before too.

I remember a documentary they had on Hulu, I think it was called "Active Measures" and was about Putin's raise to power as well as Trumps life and how their paths crossed and been crossed over the years. It was made near the beginning of his term so has none of the recent stuff and was all about Trump and Putin's past actions. Still worth the watch.

But most of this shit about him being a loser, a fraud, involved in illegalities in regards to his wealth have been known for 20+ years by the time he ran for president. The morons who voted for him won't accept this reality even with facts. His true believers will never leave his side. Everyone else in the world has been laughing at trump for decades.

Incredible with a stay. No ruling, but I'm guessing they have to soon. It's not on the docket or has been properly appeared.

I don't know anymore. Eff it.

Trump called for this publicly also. Remember when people used the buzzword; optics. Well, the optics look like shit on this one.

Also, because I will never miss the opportunity to remind over this, the only Chief Justice to preside over oral arguments in which a lawyer arguing in front of the court took a shit and flushed a toilet. Over the phone obviously, but the symbol off disrespect is all the same.

Hasn't found an excuse to throw it out yet, so he's stalling until he finds something that can be twisted into "Trump is beyond oversight. Not the President, just Trump."

I'm sure this will be decided like most SCOTUS ruling the past few years have. On the shadow docket.

Real, SCOTUS needs a massive overhaul and mandatory ethics rules like those all lower courts are bound by.

Being the dummy I am, I need a Legal Eagle vid on this one. Seems like this was a such a special privilege over anything else.

I know it is dirty thinking in this way, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut couldn't we just not listen to the SCOTUS on this? The Treasury Department is under the control of the Executive branch and the Legislative branch is asking for the documents. That's 2 of the 3 branches of government. Shouldn't this in some way out rank what the SCOTUS says? I know not listening to SCOTUS has been done in the past, in not very noble of causes but still.
