The saddest part is their not rejecting Trump because he is incompetent, a despicable human being or stole classified information and nuclear secrets. Nah, that stuff is fine. The problem is he would lose them seats.

It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death
I'm not sure, "He tries to strong-arm lots of people and organizations using the power of the President, he's just not very good at it." is a defense for that exact behavior, but if that's the best there is then it is what it is.
It was his FBI director, the guy he can't stop complaining about and calling a liberal.
Trump is hardly the only "danger to democracy" here, much less the only exceptional one.
To be fair, a small proportion did back away after the murderous insurrection. Ryan was one of them. You can find more information in the "Too Little, Too Late, Motherfuckers" thread.

There is no defense for Trump's behavior. It probably explains all the "both sides" he's trying to do, to convince himself he didn't vote for a violent despot at least twice. Sadly, pathetically, all he has is "the FBI used the Report Post button".
Now, his attempt would come off as more genuine if he actually addressed Trump trying to silence a comedian and say "because I said the FBI censoring Twitter was bad, I must also say Trump trying to silence a comedian was bad, anything else would be admission of hypocrisy". He hasn't done that yet, but to be fair, he tends to post late at night when the moderators aren't watching. For some reason.
He insults and threatens to sue people who were previously close advisors and personally appointed deputies. Also, the “power of the president” as regards corporate media entities and tech corporations is quite different than communications between intelligence and law enforcement agencies and internal staff at tech companies. It’s a basic point, and maybe we are simply done if this difference cannot be acknowledged.
Have it your way. Trump was unexceptional, just one of several. I bring it up to ridicule the idea that he is routinely brought up as uniquely bad, but none of the unique-ness carries over to other aspects.Trump is hardly the only "danger to democracy" here, much less the only exceptional one.
But I’ll watch the news and stories people tag me in for evidence that he secretly used the FBI and CIA against the Twitter accounts of his enemies. I am benefitted by such vigilant bloodhounds sniffing around for hypocrisy, as can be found around here, even if they’re a bit over-sensitive or overzealous.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time." "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
Was it really worth it to point out how people looking for hypocrisy keep finding you?
This looks like an attempt to handwave that Trump directed his own staff to silence a comedian -- exactly the same thing you've professed to hate -- by "explaining" that it's different without giving any context.
In other words, bark bark bark ARROOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Well, in a "win" for Trump, people wearing his gear were booted from a book signing for DeSantis and took to Twitter to call DeSantis "anti-free speech". If I were a Republican candidate, I wouldn't want Republicans saying that about me, lol.

I love that this is happening in the same state. DeSantis has recently proven he's willing to use his executive force on a policy he doesn't like, such as Disney. I would find it increasingly likely that DeSantis finds the laws Trump has been handwaving to, for example, live in a hotel that violates a contract, and enforce those.
Remember, Trump promised to investigate Clinton to her face in the debates. This is a party that will 100% use authoritarian rules. Trump brought this on himself.
This is exactly how Democrats mostly won Wisconsin. Sure, Ron Johnson made it back to the Senate, but we retained the governorship and prevented a super majority which are both huge because Republicans are trying their hardest to get free reign over Wisconsin.
I called it that Evers was going to win re-election shortly after the Primary. Watching Kleefisch and Michels supports absolutely RAIL into each other post primary was delicious. In the end, Michels won the primary but his supporters helped him turn away Kleefisch supports on v-day.
It dates a bit further back, but Delaware made the news the same way a while back. Filling a spot left by a long-admired Republican, a classic conservative was beat out by a cultist in training and the Democrats were like "Whoa! We can beat someone that crazy and stupid!"
And they did.
"Trying to strong arm and silence media is okay because it's only Trump's ego, and it's not okay when Biden's NON GOVERNMENTAL campaign uses the report post feature on twitter to report people posting revenge porn of Hunter Biden's dick pics!"
Yes, you've made it clear there's a difference between the two. And Trump's hurt fee fees trying to silence Jimmy Kimmel is definitely worse than the Biden campaign reporting non consensual pornographic images on Twitter.
I realize what point you were trying to make, but taking the Twitter Files as gospel for some kind of giant government conspiracy is a fucking weird hill to die on dude.
2014 Gamergate: "If you want games without hyper sexualized female characters and representation, then learn to code!"
2023: "What's with all these massively successful games with ugly (realistic) women? How could this have happened?!"
Someone at the DNC should use this as a campaign ad to show how Donald Trump wants to defund the police. I know I would.

Trump's long history of stiffing local cops may soon blow up in his face
Former President Donald Trump has a long history of stiffing local police departments who have helped provide security for his rallies and The Daily Beast reports that it may finally be coming back to haunt him.
As the publication writes, Trump and his campaign owe significant sums of money to municipalities all across America, which might make those locales less likely to offer security services in the future, which could mean that Trump will have to hold rallies in smaller venues.
"By the end of his presidential term in 2021, Trump still owed more than $2 million in overtime reimbursement and other expenses, according to a CTV News analysis," notes The Daily Beast. "The ex-president’s most recent venues have mostly been at fairgrounds and airports far from city centers."
Former Trump official Alyssa Farah Griffin tells The Daily Beast that, even if he had paid local police and had access to high-end venues, he might not be able to fill the kinds of arenas he once filled in 2016 and 2020.
“The reality is that if Donald Trump wanted to throw a huge rally, he might not get 20,000 people to show up,” she said. “Closer to primary season, that’s very possible, but he’s the weakest he’s ever been.”
"I wish it need not have happened in my time." "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
What else can he do? Conjuring up hitting the report button and sending polite emails as a grand conspiracy of evil by Democrats while downplaying everything Trump does as a silly joke by an adorably misbehaving child even after most Republican officials have completely given up on the talking point is the only way he, and others, can keep up this charade.
Republicans were victims of Deep State censorship is the conclusion they start at; the arguments are used, ignored and/or discarded as they aid to argue said conclusion.

The internet: where to every action is opposed an unequal overreaction.
It's all pretty easy to verify that employees of the FBI are not part of Biden's campaign, and the report post feature on Twitter does not send emails from federal government employees to Twitter employees.
I would really stick with "no big deal this happened" if I were you.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time." "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
So who wants to remind him that it was Trump's own administration that clicked the report button...on Trump?
He has me on ignore, but surely someone can point out the monstrous self-own he just presented in public.
Or...he could claim "deep state" a conspiracy theory. I mean, either way.
