Given what's happened it's completely acceptable to use extra scrutiny regarding Russian connections.

I totally agree about investigating Russian connections, but it goes much further than that. I use a different definition of the word it seems: "McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence."

The most hilarious part about this argument is that McCarthy turned out to be generally correct in almost all of his claims. It is a matter of public record now that the Soviets were able to keep up with technologically because they had infiltrated nearly every corner of our military industrial complex. They did have operatives in the FBI, and the CIA, and the State department.

So Nunes is calling for banning electronic voting machines. Interesting given his previous stances on everything and the GOP in the House blocking every single election security measure called for by the Dems. Despite a reasonable suggestion, it's more likely that he's following up on Trump's tweet about Russians planning something to help the Democrats. Getting ahead and setting the narrative now.

Guarantee that if the GOP lose the House, which is looking extremely likely, Trump is going to try to declare the results invalid because of Russian hacking based on the way they're already talking and right wing news having the spin machine starting to wind up. It won't make them invalid but it's going to be a dangerous game to play.

We're going to see this pushed a lot between now and November. The GOP calling for security measures, insinuate Russia is going to help the Dems, vote against said security measures or attach the measures to some bullshit bill no Dem would support, then cry that the elections are invalid after they lose the House.
