Trump's GA attempt to throw out the prosecutor doesn't seem to be going well. So he's taking it to the GA Senate instead, where things like "the rules of evidence" or "can back my claims" don't matter.

A Republican-led Georgia state Senate panel gave the floor Wednesday to a defense attorney who surfaced allegations of a romance between Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) and a special prosecutor in former President Trump’s 2020 election interference case.

Over three and a half hours, defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant described her investigation into Willis’s relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, without the constraints of a courtroom to hold her back.

But Harold Jones (D), minority whip, pushed back against the idea that Willis’ prosecution was crafted to financially benefit herself and Wade, after Merchant noted that her client, 2020 Trump campaign operative Michael Roman, was previously offered a plea deal.

“What you’re just telling me now is that he was willing to stop his billing, because he offered your client a misdemeanor and you rejected it,” Jones said. “You’re the one who’s continuing the billing.”
Jurors don't need to be re-elected. Trump is hoping that the GA Senate will throw him a lifeline, since he has no legal defense in any of his cases. While the GA Senate cannot remove the prosecutor, they can subpoena her, forcing her to answer leading questions and also delaying the trial.

There's an alternative avenue that we're seeing now: bleed Trump's bank account dry. He keeps losing civil cases and owing massive sums of money, which only grow even more massive due to interest and him not forking it over yet. Eventually he's going to have to start selling off assets, which will make him look like the big fat loser he is.

That is of course, unless some insane bank or other rich person decides to loan him the cash.

I am pleased to inform you that tomorrow night we will be doing a LIVE, Play by Play, of Crooked Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address.

I will correct, in rapid response, any and all inaccurate Statements, especially pertaining to the Border and his Weaponization of the [Department of Justice], FBI, [attorney generals], and District Attorneys, to go after his Political Opponent, ME (something never done before in this Country!). We did this once before to tremendous success – Beating All Records. It is important for the Country to get the TRUTH!
Yep. Trump's going to, I assume on Truth Social, respond to Biden by saying nothing but lies in an environment where he cannot be challenged.

I have no idea what "Beating All Records" means. Quite frankly, neither do you.

So he's gonna try to pull all the money he can out of the Republican political donor machine that is designed to get him reelected, just to save his ass?
I guess Trump is finally upholding one of his campaign promises.

This is the real election interference. Trump doing everything he can to stack the deck in his favor, against the American people. The more he can hide the truth from them, the better his chances.

Habba pleads for mercy from Kaplan to give them a bit more time.

Former President Donald Trump's attorney is begging New York Judge Lewis Kaplan to give just a little more time on the deadline to begin enforcement of Trump's $83.3 million defamation judgment in the E. Jean Carroll case, reported MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin on Wednesday.

This comes after Habba and fellow Trump attorney John D. Sauer made another filing asking that either the stay be renewed, or to reduce the bond Trump is required to put up while appealing the decision.

"In a new letter tonight, Alina Habba is asking Judge Lew Kaplan — who has yet to rule on Trump's request to stay enforcement of the $83.3 million E. Jean Carroll judgment as his post-trial motions are resolved — for some mercy," wrote Rubin in a series of posts on X. "Specifically, she notes that the existing stay expires Monday and asks that if Kaplan does not rule by tomorrow, he should at least stay enforcement of the judgment for three business days after that ruling."

"What does this mean? Trump could be having difficulty arranging for a bond of $91-plus million, which is what will be required to cover the judgment and interest, and expecting that Kaplan will deny his request for a longer stay, he is trying to buy himself time to obtain one or free up sufficient cash," she continued.

All of this is coming at the same time that Trump is trying to get out of paying the bond in the other New York civil case, involving the business fraud complaint from state Attorney General Letitia James.

In that case, Trump, his adult sons, and his former accountant were found liable for $464 million in fines and interest, and temporarily restricted from doing business in New York.

Arizona grand jury eyes Trump 2020 campaign.

Subpoenas are going out. Sources tell WaPo that their targets are not just the fake electors, but their possible coordinators in Trump's re-election team, such as Eastman and Chesebro.

"If they plead guilty in one case, isn't that evidence in another?"

    Yes.

The weirdest thing about this is that Trump has so many billionaire "friends" like Peter Thiel who could loan him the money but even Elon Musk is staying away. The money Trump needs is peanuts to these guys perhaps this is too much of a gamble for them.

Everyone knows they will never see it back, and they didn't get rich by giving away millions
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

I think the main problem for Trump is that there is nothing extra they would get out of him by doing him this favor. If he wins he will bend over and do their bidding no matter what.

Y'know, I thought it was possible Trump couldn't afford to pay the fraud penalty. But maybe she's right; maybe he can't even afford to pay Carroll.

There's no grounds for an extension, here. And it's not like the judgement came out of nowhere. Trump's had plenty of time to ensure he has the funds ready to pay. If he doesn't have the money ready on Monday, start seizing his assets.

Also if he cannot pay, he should have tried shutting the fuck up. Better yet, not raping anyone.

I can't see Kaplan giving a stay to someone who claimed to be "too rich..." Time to finally pay the piper. Long overdue anyway.

Trump shutting up would be like a loud dog that stopped barking. It would be a sign of illness

I think it's the former and therefore the latter. Forbes says Trump has $400 million in liquid assets, and yes putting $83 million together isn't necessarily fast, but it's something he could have done by now...in a vacuum. The problem is the fraud trial.

And yes, loaning money to Trump has zero benefits. You won't get it back and he never repays loyalty. You would literally be better off lighting it on fire, at least that would keep you warm.

EDIT: I think Trump will cave, and pay. I think he has to. He cannot afford the GOP indignity of the woman he raped picking through his belongings for which she wants to take the most. He needs either an appeal victory/reduction, or he needs to make the payment cash, which at least he'll retreat to his former lie "I was just paying her to shut her up, I didn't lose, I didn't lose!"

Also, if Trump admits he can't pay eighty million, the NY fraud prosecution will immediately clamp down on anything Trump tries in that case. Any filing for an extension/delay/mercy will have that default pointed to and it'll be admissible.

I don't think they consider the money that they gave to Trump as loan. More as investment in somebody who did become the US president.

Time has changed. They saw what his presidency was like. In Thiel's own words to the Atlantic.

“There are a lot of things I got wrong,” he acknowledged. “It was crazier than I thought. It was more dangerous than I thought. They couldn’t get the most basic pieces of the government to work. So that was—I think that part was maybe worse than even my low expectations.”

Reading between the lines, the venture capital community sees Trump as chaos. Investors hate chaos.

On top of that, those that own 401k, IRA, investment portfolios and dividend income are currently dancing in joy. They want things to stay the same and not rock the boat when the going is good. Especially, not Mr. Chaos personified.

Unlike 2012 and 2016, he can expect very little from the venture capital community.

Donald Trump told to pay six-figure costs of firm he sued

    I don't think we've seen this?

Steyn threw out the case against Orbis Business Intelligence, a consultancy founded by former MI6 officer Christopher Steele, last month.

She found that Mr Trump's compensation claim was "bound to fail".

In a new ruling she also ordered Mr Trump to pay Orbis's costs "of the entire claim".

Mrs Justice Steyn said Orbis has estimated its costs to be more than £600,000.

She said £300,000 should be paid by Mr Trump before the total costs are decided by a specialist judge.
That's right: the peepee tapes are joining in the fun, oh fuck I can't believe I just wrote that sentence.

Yeah, Trump can't win anything in a courtroom.

  18. #89358
He seems truly, deeply tired of winning.

I actually had to look that up. I did not realize (or forgot) that those occurred during his term in office. All of my investments are long term and I tend to gloss over short-term losses. Good catch though.
