Breaking News: The Georgia Court of Appeals stayed most proceedings in Donald Trump’s election interference case, effectively freezing the prosecution.

Well that's it. No criminal trials until after election.

This is a state case, but damn if they will try to throw Fanni off and I guess kill it.

The trial is on hold while the appeals court considers an appeal on the decision of allowing the district attorney to stay on the case, after the "conflict of interest" fiasco.

Aka: same complaint as last time, but with a "you didnt give us the answer we wanted, therefore it was wrong."

Yeah, that was already decided. Where are the mechanisms that stop the appeal process from being abused like this: "we don't like being prosecuted for our crimes so we're going to appeal again and again until it stops"? Usually courts don't entertain obviously frivolous motions that serve nothing but to delay.

A federal judge on Thursday ordered former Trump adviser Steve Bannon to report to prison on July 1 to begin a four-month prison sentence for defying subpoenas from the Jan. 6 Committee after a higher court rejected his appeal.
Bannon is going to prison for a short bit. Finally. Maybe he can sober up while he's in there, I imagine it'll be hard to indulge his alcoholism to its fullest while in the slammer. Unless he makes a lot of prison bitches who can supply him with prison wine, very quickly. Which I'm skeptical that he's capable of.

Not that he's going to pay anything the way things keep going, but Donald can not stop talking about E. Jean Carroll and I'm gonna laugh if he gets the damages increased. Again.

In the ongoing attempt to say political prosecutions are bad, Trump calls for the indictment of the Jan 6th committee.

The unAmerican Weaponization of our Law Enforcement has reached levels of Illegality never thought possible before.

INDICT THE UNSELECT J6 COMMITTEE FOR ILLEGALLY DELETING AND DESTROYING ALL OF THEIR ‘FINDINGS!'
"Did they destroy all their findings?"

No. Much of it is on this dot-gov website.

"Did they destroy any of their findings?"

    It's complicated, because it's subjective.

Though some Republicans and Trump have jumped on the statement as a sign the House Jan. 6 select committee did something wrong, the rules and standards of what is preserved following a congressional investigation are loose and subject to the interpretation of each new Congress.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight told Fox News on Tuesday that the House Jan. 6 select committee did not adequately preserve documents, data and video depositions — including communications it had with President Biden‘s administration — and failed to provide any evidence that it looked into Capitol Hill security failures on the day of the insurrection.

On the Truth Social platform Wednesday, Trump falsely stated that “The January 6th Unselect Committee got rid of EVERYTHING! Discarded, Deleted, Thrown Out. A Flagrant Violation of the law. They had so much to hide, and now that I have Subpoena Power, they didn’t want to get caught. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. AN EGREGIOUS CRIMINAL ACT & BLATANT DISREGARD OF THE LAW! Can you imagine if I would have done such a thing???.”

That is not accurate. Much of the committee’s work was made public through an 845-page, eight-chapter report, several televised hearings and about 180 released transcripts and interviews.

Loudermilk himself alleged only that the information his subcommittee has is incomplete, not that it was all destroyed.
That's from August. Nothing here is new.

"What would happen if they didn't hand everything over to the DoJ?"

Well, considering the Jan 6th committee was not Trump's best ally, I'd assume they gave the DoJ everything that indicated criminal offense. I don't know if they were required to turn over anything they found that was exculpatory, but since nothing of that type exists -- a Trump supporter would have made it public immediately -- it's irrelevant.

"Was the Jan 6th committee supposed to keep everything, when they knew for a fact the GOP House would not pursue a single charge?"

I guess federal documents are supposed to be kept by federal employees. You know what, I'll go further. If federal documents were supposed to be left with federal employees, but were instead not kept by federal employees, then the people who didn't hand them over and broke the law by not handing them over should be charged.

Including if anyone stole federal documents when they left the White House on Jan 20th, 2021, and we have objective proof they did that.

    It's both or neither.

IIRC it was decided by the trial judge. They appealed that ruling. It's now at the appeals court. This news is about the appeals court staying most proceedings until they're done, not a new appeal.

Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Hey, Federalist; "Sin" doesn't exist. You may as well be talking about goblins and magic curses. Stop pushing magical mythological woo-woo as if it's reality, thanks.

    You openly homophobic shitwads.

My understanding is that it was already appealed once, and now they're doing it again and the appeals court is bending over backwards to accommodate them once more for no good reason. I could be wrong about this however.

Donald went on "Dr." Phil's show - yes, apparently he's still abusing vulnerable people and pretending to be a doctor and all - to complain about how hard it is on his family to read the lurid details of his sexcapades.

Cheating Abusive Felon Whines Wife Has to Read Mean Stuff About Him
Wait, that's just the headline at The New Republican, which seems to be an entirely factually correct headline.

“It has to affect my family, and I think that’s really unfair,” Trump said. “Because I have a very good family, I have good kids, I have a wonderful wife. I mean, it’s not easy for her to read this kind of stuff that’s fake. That’s fake stuff. And—but that’s the way it is. It certainly is not a good thing.”
Maybe Donald shouldn't have cheated on all his wives, including with porn stars? And then bragged about that cheating? And then tried to cover it up to benefit his campaign secretly?

Does he have a good family? Does he have good kids? Outside of Baron, who I continue to give a pass as he was a minor until recently and has remained wholly uninvolved otherwise, I don't think that's a claim I could agree with. Donnie Jr. is a cokehead idiot, Eric the Dumber is...self explanatory, Ivanka is too busy trying to be relatable to normal folk by hangin out with Kim K., and...uh...Tiffany weirdly decided to try to gain some favor with her father for a bit (She's one of the kids, right?) and IIRC that sorta flared out. Maybe she was just making sure she stayed in the will or something.

Anyways, let's laugh at Donald Trump speaking with "Dr." Phil, and also that time "Dr." Phil got humiliated by the awful guy who created Bum Fights, who showed up to the show dressed exactly like "Dr." Phil because functionally they're both just exploiting vulnerable folks.

I feel like that headline should include that he has been found liable for sexual assault. Seems like the sort of detail that is relevant to the relation with his wife.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Think that falls under "abusive", but I'm not against adding more to it.

    A little addendum;
‘We Ride at Dawn’: The Federalist Came For Dolly Parton, Now Her Fans Are Coming For Them

When is The Federalist going to learn that it’s a mistake to go after intensely popular and beloved pop stars just for the sake of contrarianism?

Not any time soon, going by their new attack on country music icon Dolly Parton. In an article published Thursday entitled “There’s Nothing Loving About Dolly Parton’s False Gospel” — which, it should be noted, is already based on a false premise because Dolly Parton does not preach a gospel as much as she just says things — contributor Ericka Anderson criticized Parton for declaring “love is love” when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community. She also took issue with Parton not wanting to judge others, calling it a “get out of jail free card”:
Parton often defaults to humility as her reason for staying out of politics and partisanship.

“I’m not a good enough person or a good enough Christian to judge and criticize other people,” she told [Drew Barrymore].

This, however, is her “get out of jail free” card. Who’s going to argue with it? She’s not alone in this avoidance tactic. Christians often use the “let him who is without sin cast the first stone” Scripture verse to sidestep addressing sin directly. Parton does exactly the same thing here.
How dare she cite the BIBLE to promote tolerance and love for everyone.

    Right-wing @FDRLST in 2016: “Make @DollyParton president.”

Right-wing @FDRLST in 2024: *attacks Dolly for loving everyone*

Bold move! And a pretty good summation of how extreme the GOP has gotten. (No, we won’t share the link)

Gosh, so much changes in 8 years! Like Dolly Parton being consistent with her message of inclusivity and acceptance and how she doesn't judge others.

    Attacking Dolly? Makes zero sense.
They keep chipping away at the conservatives that have doubts. At this point I'm pretty sure PA isn't Trump’s.

So, in case anyone was debating on the Clown Show that exists around Donald Trump.

Back on 5/31/24, a facebook user posted that his cousin was a juror and told him that Trump was going to be ruled on as guilty. (Source: https://www.newsweek.com/maga-demand...mation-1909960) And now MAGA is up in arms as this shows it was fixed! And the judge is looking into this post and hearing arguments about it. The issue? The account that posted is clearly just crapposting, it is joke account and clearly so.

Also, people are saying "This is grounds for a mistrial!" which is hilarious because you have to prove the result could/would have been different if the event didn't happen. Like this is crazy
Peace is a lie. There is only passion. Through passion I gain strength. Through strength I gain power.
Through power I gain victory. Through victory my chains are broken. The Force shall set me free.

Let's pretend the leak was 100% true. No, it still isn't grounds for a mistrial. Leaking the result early is not a known mistrial issue. It is a problem if jurors introduce evidence, have unreasonable bias, or are bribed. None of that was suggested by the story about the leak.

While I'm guessing such a leak is not supposed to happen, as has already been said, it didn't. The story is false. But even if it wasn't false, it wouldn't be a mistrial. If anything, a defendant might want a leak so they can quickly take a plea.
