    Actual clown shoes comment.

You realize that voting is how these justices were put into place, yeah?

Or, perhaps more accurately, a bunch of people not voting is how these justices were put into place.

I just finished reading the whole decision.

It's the most unhinged legal document I have ever seen. It not just grants the President virtual immunity from prosecution, it grants the President immunity from almost all legal review including that by Congress itself. Absolutely unhinged.

    We are fucked.

Maybe people should have voted for Clinton in 2016, and literally none of this would have happened. No trump, no roe v wade being overturned, no “the president (as long as he’s trump) can do whatever he wants,” no pending trials for mishandled secret documents, no convicted president, none of that, would have ever happened. The Supreme Court would be under a liberal majority for the foreseeable future. Trump would have come and gone from politics.

But I get it, Clinton wasn’t “progressive” enough, or her “vibes were off,” or “Bernie really did get slighted if you think about it.”

That justifies people’s apathy and this resulting situation, right?

Maybe the arc of history acts in ways that are important beyond single issues and indeed singular election cycles. So saying “lol voting is pointless” because you’re observing this situation in no small part because people didn’t vote is rather dumb.

Correct, my wording could have been better.

I'm just asking questions here. Do you know the answer? Can drone striking a SCOTUS Justice be an official act? If so, SCOTUS just ruled that's A-OK and that POTUS should be immune from prosecution over it.

So if you want to clutch your pearls in front of anyone please find Chief Justice Roberts and the four other conservative Justices and clutch your pearls there.

I'll say this. If it counts as official, time to let Biden get Seal Team 6 on some things.

Trump and a lot of the GOP could very easily be considered domestic terrorists. Especially many of their voters. Even a certain SCOTUS and his wife.

Biden just has to say “I thought they were a terrorist.”

They can’t question whether he actually thought that and they can’t question anyone he might have spoken to about it.

Yup. The mouth breathers that support this are unhinged. Like do they realize that when [insert person you personally do not like] gets into office they can do whatever they want? What about Biden right now? This is what decades of underfunding public education gets you.

"Official capacity" is a nearly irrelevant nuance unless official duties are codifed in detail.

Time for Biden to write an executive order prohibiting felons from running for office.
Just don't reply to me. Please. If you can help it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) this is less about a president writing laws and more about a president doing something (like, say, taking classified documents) and then being legally exempt from prosecution for having done something otherwise completely illegal.

Hilary ran one of the worst campaigns ever. She ignored the Rust Belt states. That's on her and her campaign management, not voters.

You aren't special enough to tread this ground for the 100th time.

I don't see any reason why he can't do what was outlined. "Official duties" is too broad to be meaningful in most contexts.

I have faith that the House would impeach, the Senate would convict, and this would be treated as the illegitimate action that it is. The process is actually pretty clear. What, are you actually saying that you think House Democrats would be fine with Biden pulling a self-coup?

I remember what happened two days before the general election, it wasn't about her campaign. Or her personality or anything else. It was about her being a woman and us vs them mentality in the US. Repubs would find a reason to hate Jesus if he ran as a Democrat.

    What if they were?

Biden, under this ruling from scotus, would be completely in the clear if the democrats are unwilling to impeach.

And if he takes out anyone even thinking of impeaching him?
