Sadly the promoters said 99.9% and not 100%. Also, I doubt they put "Trump will be there" in a legally-binding contract, even if Trump personally told them he'd be there.

They won't be sued, but they will be relentlessly shamed and mocked. Considering who they are, that might be worse - I doubt they have money worth suing for, but being accurately and publicly labeled as losers might actually hurt.

So Trump is getting good at the self-owns.

Bret Baier of FoxNews *ding* called me, I didn’t call him, just prior to the Kamala Convention speech, and asked me if I would like to critique her after she is finished. I agreed to do so!

I didn’t call other media outlets that asked me to go on, they called me. The Fake News, like often ‘gilted’ Maureen Dowd of the failing New York Times, wrote incorrectly that I was making the calls.

WRONG!!! I don’t have to make calls to go on TV, or anything else — They call me! It’s called Ratings, I guess, and I’m the “Ratings Machine!"
-- Trump, on his social media platform off-ramp

Yep, that's Trump admitting he has nothing better to do than answer when FOX News calls. The man has dozens of businesses, several ongoing trials, a political campaign, and he's a husband and father. FOX News calls, he answers and agrees to whatever he says.

    "It's called ratings, I guess?"

I just cut and paste. Surely Trump knew before what ratings were. But he is senile and/or retarded, so...

"Okay, but surely responding their opponents' conventions is something candidates are called to do."

Name one time that's happened before. Find the time Clinton responded to the 1992 or 1996 RNC, for example. Or Al Gore in 2000. Not the campaign, the candidate. I don't think that happens.

Also, let's look into this further. Does "FOX News called Trump" really fit with this?

Trump dialed into Fox News to speak with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum last Thursday immediately after Harris concluded her nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.

During the call, Trump appeared to accidently press buttons on his phone’s keypad while he seemingly ranted about Harris’s speech. Baier and MacCallum attempted to interject at various points as the former president continued to talk. The call ended after 10 minutes, when the anchors told Trump the network ran out of time.

Trump’s phone call was mentioned by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who wrote in an opinion piece, “He followed up the posts with a scream-of-consciousness call to Fox News, filibustering Bret Baier and Martha McCallum for 10 minutes until Baier abruptly cut him off to throw to the Greg Gutfeld comedy show.”
"Why would FOX News ask Trump for his comments, then cut him off after ten minutes?"

I don't think they would. I think Trump is lying.

"How do you hit wrong buttons if you spend all day every day on your phone?"

Loss of fine motor detail, loss of eyesight, loss of memory. Pretty standard stuff for someone that old and suffering from...several things.

"If Trump was called before the speech, and asked to comment after the speech, why didn't he take notes?"

I don't think he was. I think he's lying. But if that's the best he came up with on purpose, no wonder FOX cut him off. Hell, I could have done better than ten minutes of improv if FOX News had called me. And I'm nobody.

    "You mentioned an NYTimes piece?"

I won't quote the whole thing, but there is more worth reading.

    WHERE’S HUNTER?
Yep. That's another direct Trump quote. During the speech. Harris' speech, just to be clear.

All of these things that she talked about — ‘We are going to do this, we are going to do that, we are going to do everything’ — but she didn’t do any of it!
So...she's not responsible for inflation, then?

    IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?
Um...I don't have even a joke about this one. No, really, this is concerning. I just so happen to have the transcript of Harris' entire speech. She used his name over a dozen times. Here's part of it:

Friends, I believe America cannot truly be prosperous unless Americans are fully able to make their own decisions about their own lives, especially on matters of heart and home.

But tonight, in America, too many women are not able to make those decisions. And let’s be clear about how we got here: Donald Trump handpicked members of the U.S. Supreme Court to take away reproductive freedom. And now, he brags about it.

In his words, “I did it, and I’m proud to have done it.”
    "Wait, didn't you just say--"

Yes. I don't think Trump would try to say "abortion is illegal in the USA". But he did objectively make it more difficult, and Harris' quote is an accurate reflection.

Back to the Trump "reality" show:

When Ms. MacCallum observed, accurately, that Ms. Harris was “having some success” with women, Hispanic and Black voters, Mr. Trump objected. “She’s not having success; I’m having success,” he said. “I’m doing great with the Hispanic voters, doing great with Black men, I’m doing great with women.”

“It’s only in your eyes that they have that, Martha,” he added. “We are doing very well.”
And that's just attacking FOX News, who you called, for no reason. Harris is objectively having "some" success.

So Trump, on his own, decided to barge into FOX News and damage his own message and campaign. As well as announce that he was old and failing. That, plus the ALL CAPS Chinese knockoff tweets. Seriously, did Trump actually ask if Harris was talking about him? That doesn't even make sense as a bad joke. It is more reasonable, from context, to assume he wasn't sure.

It's wishful thinking. Not that Hunter Biden on trial for jaywalking, but with Trump on trial for many things, any criminal charges even partly related to his opponent would give him and his cultists a "both sides" attempt to handwave. He desperately wants Hunter Biden to be a campaign issue.

Or of course, he could have just forgotten who he was running against, as "IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?" seems to suggest.

Which is an even dumber notion. Not only was hunter Biden never running for president… now his dad isn’t, either.

The laptop/ukraine/whatever nonsense I’m forgetting now that they tried to stir up around Hunter never stuck for shit against Biden, they think it’s gonna stick to… Harris?

The mental disconnect is nucking futs.

Like... the whole narrative he was trying to push with Hunter's woes was the idea of Joe Biden as some criminal kingpin. But he's also trying to castigate Harris for committing a "coup" to oust Biden.

So which is it, Trump? Or are we going to get some new weird conspiracy, like it was "Kamala All Along".

Trump returned to the border, bragging about building "the Rolls Royce" of walls at Arizona last week

The section of wall he was talking about was built by Obama.

As WaPo continues, Trump did start a section nearby, but it didn't get very far. As a reminder, Trump built about 52 miles of new Wall, and some of it fell down in a storm.

And I'm sure he'd claim Mexico built that part.

No surprise here, of course he wants to restrict the first amendment.

On Friday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made a show of selectively exiting the presidential race and throwing his support behind Donald Trump, hailing the former president as a champion of free speech. Less than a week later, Trump is already promising to crush First Amendment protections if elected in November.

On Monday, Trump complained about pushback to a proposal to sentence people to a year in jail for burning the American flag.

“I wanna get a law passed […] You burn an American flag, you go to jail for one year. Gotta do it — you gotta do it,” Trump said.

“They say, ‘Sir, that’s unconstitutional.’ We’ll make it constitutional.”

He wants to "make it Constitutional"? How? By passing a new Amendment? Repealing the First?

Or just tearing up the Constitution entirely?

    Oh Trump has no plan

No plan to build a wall. But he says it and his voters cheer.

No plan to lock Hillary up. But he says it and his voters cheer.

No plan to make flag burning illegal. But he says it... and his voters cheer.

Now, that's not to say Trump wouldn't do those things, if given the chance. But it's just that red meat for his base. Because he is, of course, interested first and foremost in lining his pockets.

    1. It's funny when they acknowledge that you can amend the constitution after "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" bullshit.

    2. It's extra funny because not only has Donald specifically had beef with the First Amendment for a while, but national Republicans, primarily in southern states like Florida, have waged a multi-year assault on the First Amendment, too.

That so many won't question Donald's obvious lies or Roberts obvious repetition of said lies, and that either is ever looked upon as "trustworthy" is an indictment on the American Experiment(TM)

People really need more lessons in exactly what law is, as a concept, and how fragile that concept it can be.

The moment the police or the courts do things that are "illegal" and aren't punished, those things aren't illegal any more, at least for the police and the courts. That it's on the books is utterly and completely irrelevant. Which is why, if you study the history of law, as I have, you very early need to learn that there's a wide difference between "what codes of laws contain" and "how cases are actually tried in practice". They aren't the same thing and you absolutely cannot derive the latter by examining the former.

The time has come to create a Space National Guard as the primary combat reserve of the U.S. Space Force.

So as president, I will sign historic legislation creating a Space National Guard. So we’re going to do that. Space Force has been very important, very, very important.
