The states will have to come up to the plate.
Although red states will likely see their own killed...before they realize the own demographic is being thinned out.

BREAKING: Special counsel Jack Smith is in active talks with senior leadership at the Justice Department evaluating ways he can end his prosecutions of President-elect Donald Trump, sources familiar with the matter told

    Well its over. Fuck it.

The decision is based on longstanding Department of Justice policy that a sitting president cannot face criminal prosecution while in office, sources said.
I mean the most pussy excuse to drop charges but they weren't going anywhere. I guess have the balls to say that Trump will force the charges to be dropped. But like Garland seems Jack Smith is that company man who wants to get a job somewhere.

Eh. Don't know. "Jack Smith is in talks" can just mean "Jack Smith is being leashed".

Seriously, can't they just assign it to a council that the DoJ has no direct control over? I mean the courts will dismiss it regardless but they can't even try and continue it?
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

Unfortunately, this. I saw someone point out that the incumbent administrations are losing pretty much across the board, from New Zealand to the United Kingdom. Doesn't matter whether they're left or right wing, or how popular they were, inflation kills incumbencies. The only one that's managed to hang on is Canada, and only just barely, with the NDP going from a comfortable majority to being only a couple seats ahead (and Trudeau is almost certainly on his way sooner than his term limit).

been thinking a lot about how every now and then a bit of pop-culture accidentally drops an insanely insightful and poignant truth about the human condition, and how it goes largely unremarked upon.
in the averngers, loki said "it's the unspoken rule of humanity: that you crave subjugation. the bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy" and hot damn if that doesn't sum up the state of the things.

been thinking lately about the state of human civilization in the west since the fall of monarchism, and how so much of modern day right wing bullshit really feels like a segment of humanity desperately trying to reclaim that social order, the hierarchy and rigid structure and immutable decrees from on high that can't be questioned.

So again Trump gets away with every crime we have a law for, because the right just wants to watch the world burn. Idiocracy to be sure

Again, that's an insult to the people in Idiocracy. Their excuse is they genuinely didn't know better and, when they finally realized they found a smart person, they just let the smart nerd handle things.

Republicans have the option of President Camacho or Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson) - they gleefully chose President Camacho.

Which is also an insult to President Camacho, because he too realized there was a smart person and put him in charge of stuff.

Sort of a funny thing to go with this.

Those Medicare drug prices that are supposed to drop in 2026 will now happen under a Trump administration, which he will of course take credit for.

Here we go again people. The famous conman will take credit for things already coming down the pipeline. You can say most/all politicians do this, but this is Trump's specialty.

I will see wait and see on inflation will be super interesting. Once more people are Fucking Delusional on believing what the government can effect on inflation. First of all the post COVID inflation is done but once again most dumb Americans don't get this. To be fair good did rise of inflation and have not gown down or will never go down, so yes cost of living across the board has risen by a lot. Which brings me to Trump and how they think they can fix this. Oh I have ideas and wish Biden would have done them, but they are too Progressive for Trump.

So we will be at a year or two in and the Rainmaker himself will have promised a great economy which likely the sheep will say it is, even if not. This guy is pretty amazing on what does not stick to him.

I'll laugh my ass off if Trump betrays people like RFK and Musk by not actually giving them the positions he promised/alluded to. He has no obligation to afterall.

Musk I think would make it, but RFK jr probably wouldn't pass the senate confirmation thing tbh
I doubt even the most staunch Republican really likes him

Ah, see, your problem is you think they have to. Have you forgotten that the first time around, the latter half of the revolving door of cabinet members were all "Acting" because Trump realized he could abuse the system to avoid actually have anyone vetted or officially approved?

The word "obligation" isn't quite right.
Trump is a psycho-narcissist. He demands loyalty while knowing none for them.

Elon does not in any way, shape, or form want a government job. He'll be hired as a non-government employee - there's no way he's subjecting himself to the transparency and accountability of a public office who might need to respond to FOIA requests.

Though I hate to remind the thread of a few things -

    1. Republicans are actually liable to potentially approve RFK for HHS or some stupid shit.
    2. Even if Republicans don't, there are still plenty of position she could do a ton of damage in that don't require Senate approval.
    3. Even if the Senate didn't approve him, Donald can always just (again) work with an administration of non-Senate approved "Acting" secretaries as he did last time.
