Let's speculate on Trump's Mass Deportation.

As most of us understand this would cost the US a tremendous amount of money in manpower and infrastructure. Then of course the economy itself of losing a tremendous workforce. So who will save us? Of course the rich and elite who will tell Trump not to take away their cheap labor force. Ironically it will be the rich who squash Trump's plan, but his base won't get it.

So what happens? Likely Trump will round up less than a million people, proclaim victory and his base will join in on this narrative. The cult will prevail and the amazing glorious leader won't do shit.

If you want to project out and Dems win in 2028, obviously too many immigrants will be in the US and you can't blame the orange gawd.

All I'm reporting is what Homan said. I *do* think they want to and will likely deport more people than Trump's first term. But it won't be to the levels they claim. And it will be an easy victory lap for him.

I do think they will just try to speed up the deportation process. How, I'm not sure.
they will use military bases, prisons and other secured facilities as concentration camps that way they can keep what is going on away from the press.

Trump's orbit is filled with rampant racists the odds are they will do their best to do this. The only silver lining is that if this follows his past presidency that the constant drama, infighting and game of thrones environment plus incompetence leads to failure. The low ball estimate is about 1 trillion dollars to deport 20 million people that cost doesn't include a lot so let's put it around 1.5 to 2 2 trillion.

Probably, but in the short term? That's likely going to be several months with a vacancy that would otherwise have been a Republican vote in the House.

And more importantly, if the government is spending 2.2 trillion, imagine how many opportunities that sets up to, ahem, redirect some of those funds into the pockets of certain foul smelling trousers.

Trump's focus is going to be split in this presidency, between making sure all his legal problems go away permanently and lining his own pockets. We've seen him in action recently, I'm not convinced he's got enough brain power left to do both of those things. He doesn't give a shit about anything else apart from those two.

Will other people in his orbit try and push things through? Probably. Will they have the political capital and personal leverage to do it? Possibly not.

My prediction is we're going to have 2 years of much sound and fury, and precious little else. Followed by losing one or both of the elected bodies and waving his tiny hands around in anger for the next 2 years. That's my hope, at least.

Ironically the hope is that they follow through with their project 2025 plan to hollow out the government. It's a huge body to move to get things done even harder if you get rid of all the institutional knowledge in favor of incompetent stooges. I believe we will see an even worse situation than last time with government officials quitting in droves leaving a barely functioning skeleton crew that doesn't even know how the copier works.

That's speculation from former officials as well. Meaning it's informed speculation, especially since these are possibilities that have already been fairly openly discussed.

Is there anything you don't reflexively attempt to defend?

My optimistic take is that, like the wall, the administration will realize it's too hard/expensive to actually do. So they'll do some symbolic raids and deportations then stall it long enough that when/if Dems take back Congress in the midterms, they can just shrug and go 'Rats, those pesky Dems are at it again.'

I'm sure they'll be real gung ho about it at the start, but it'll peter off when the sheer magnitude of what they want to accomplish becomes realized.

I feel like it'll be a three way tug-of-war of influence between Musk, the Heritage Foundation Ghouls, and whatever team Thiel/Vance are on while Trump's just happy to not be in jail.

Thiel/Vance go back to their party's platform.
They exploit the African American to make money.

Related. I read on Slashdot that 2024 was being referred to as "The Graveyard for Incumbencies"

Guessing this might make governments more worried about price gouging companies exploiting pandemics in the future knowing it can have this level of impact. As well as learning to more vocally and properly educate its populace.

But doubt the current ones coming into power will want that to happen as its what got them into power in the first place.

These are from past and present statements from people in Trump's orbit not to mention we got a taste of what this looked like before. They used military bases, prisons and other facilities to house migrants when ICE facilities went over capacity when he was in office.

Will the people they need to hire to carry out any sort of deportation orders be (sadly) counted as “jobs created?”

    It's always about enriching themselves.

Private prison stocks rose on Monday after President-elect Trump selected immigration hardliner Tom Homan as his 'border czar.'

    Putin to Trump; "Fuck you!"

Putin Gives Trump Massive Middle Finger, Days After Warning on Ukraine

The Russian leader is making it clear that Donald Trump has zero power to stop Russia’s deadly war on Ukraine.

Less than a week after being elected to a second term, President-elect Donald Trump doesn’t appear to be the international strong-arm he claimed he’d be.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already waltzed right past a pointed warning from the MAGA leader, sending tens of thousands of soldiers to the Ukrainian war front after Trump told him not to escalate the situation.
“But this isn’t the end. I promise you, this is not the end, and we have to regroup and we have to continue to fight and continue to work day in and day out to create the better society for our children, for this world, for this country, that we know is possible.” ~~Jon Stewart

Trump says he made a call to pootie to warn him. Russia said no call ever happened.

Given both sides are habitual liars it's hard to say who is telling the truth, but I'm more inclined to believe russia as no way Trump would cross his boss.

On the flip side, Trump's allegiances are so fickle and his brain has been clearly deteriorating that he might just start redoubling Weapon Shipments to Ukraine out of spite because Putin said mean things to him.

Welcome back to the Chaos Presidency; now with at least 60% More Dementia and 100% more petty spite.
