Not much different than the "Free State Project" or "Sovereign Citizens" crap.

Cheer up, things are never as bad (or as good) as they may seem.

Dems have 12 years to try to rebuild the party. Let's see what they got.

Trump will self-sabotage like he did the first time, throwing establishment Dems a lifeline in 2026 and 2028, and they will forsake any efforts to change because the status quo works for them.

Voters have to primary the establishment candidate(s) like they did with Trump v. The World in 2015-16. We got closer in 2020 than 2016, at least. Bernie needs to choose a scion before he dies, via collaborative public spectacles.

Dems did just fine in 2018 and 2022 when Trump wasn't on the ballot. Better than expected anyways. I would be surprised if dems don't retake congress in 2026. That's assuming republicans don't pull some serious anti-democracy shenanigans in the next two years.

There are non stupid Trump voters. They know what republicans will do and they want that. They don't care that Trump violated the constitution, broke the law, and is a serial rapist. However, there are millions of Trump voters that believe things which aren't true like he'll bring prices down to where they used to be. If Trump and republicans actually do what they promised then things will get worse. That's not going to help them win elections.

And as others just pointed out, the next few years will likely be a clusterfuck. Trump's first term was non stop chaos. One fuck up after another with a few good things sprinkled here and there. There's no reason to believe this term will be any better.

On top of that the house republicans barely have control. It's much more narrow than 2016-2018. It's going to be quite difficult for them to do anything extreme and I expect a lot of fighting that only clusterfucks things further.

Somewhat ironically, it is these «unintelligent Trump voters» that are essential to defeating right-wing Christofascism. Because as you said, the smart Trump voters got what they wanted. They will not be swayed be anything less than apocalyptic threats to their own existence.

Dismissing «stupid Trump voters» is self-defeating because one needs them to get a majority.

If trump indeed fucks up the economy then it’ll be a pretty simple rallying cry to say “remember when Trump said he’d lower prices? And look how prices are X amount higher now?” that trump will have a pretty hard time redressing. He can and will try and lie and obfuscate his way around it, but unlike vague insinuations about how illegals are totally being kept at bay people will see it directly affecting their pocketbook. And that two years of excuses about how prices aren’t lower yet won’t sell to well to the American people overall.

Democrats just have to be ready to capitalize on it. Like in 2018 and 2022.

I mean how big is the margin in Congress? GOP has what, a 2 or 3 seat majority?

The Senate is 53-47. The House is nominally 220-215, except between Matt Gaetz resigning and the people Trump has named to his cabinet it's actually going to be 217-215, which means Mike Johnson can't afford even a single defection on anything.

and thats ignoring the chaos caucus WILL see that narrow lead as a point to extort more power from Johnson
and the Democrats are ALOT less inclined to save johnson from that sort of bullshit

I kinda see them concentrating all that crazy in a single spot to be a really good thing. It concentrates all those voters into a single district which gives them less influence outside of it and they get to go hog wild doing what they want there while the rest of the nation and the world gets to see the results.

Honestly wish the entire conservative base did this as well, the fact Democrats already do this as a byproduct of living in cities and exposing themselves to reality is why the Democrats are largely hurting so bad when it comes to elections and gerrymandering.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

Why are you using an opinion piece by some unknown retard? Especially when he is citing things that have been clearly debunked?

Shit, I may as well cite the guy I follow on Bluesky who predicted the GOP would overreach and turn off moderate voters, causing a blue wave in 2026. It's just as well sourced and feels more likely to boot.

It is batshit insane to me that the leaders of Canada and Mexico are going straight to Mar-a-lago to talk with Trump about foreign policy and Biden isn’t involved in this at all.

Really goes to show how flaccid this administration has been. «All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.» Looking right at you, Joe and Merrick. Not even going to intercede a little bit when our allies ignore the fact that you’re president for two more fucking months?

You know how much you can do in two months with blanket immunity granted by the Supreme Court?

What a joke. Wandering off into the Amazon jungle really was the appropriate ending to this impotent fart of an administration.

Why would we be focusing on the guy who'll be out of office in two months, rather than the President-elect who's threatening punitive tariffs against, well, everyone?

We've already got good relations with the Biden administration, who isn't threatening economic action.

If Trump's not gonna listen to pressure and cut this stupid fucking tariff shit out, we'll have two months to proactively prep for that outcome. We'll have a two-month head start on all that.

Interfacing with the guy who has a good relationship with you and blanket immunity for two months seems pretty useful.

Why? Is he threatening serious economic sanctions for little to no reason? Is there some extant problem we need to talk to Biden to settle in that two month period?

Especially when any decision Biden makes over the next couple months could be trivially thrown out on January 21st.

Your argument just doesn't make a lick of sense, dude. Slow the hate train down and think for a second.

Hmm, I wonder what uniquely American issues could be resolved by a sitting President with blanket immunity.

Any thoughts on Trudeau going to sit at a table with a fascist, by the way? Maybe they can enjoy a fine luncheon.
