The negotiations for this bill have been going on for months. Do you know how the government works?

Both parties put country over politics and hashed out a deal to keep the show running while they discuss more long term funding (which failed b4 the previous deadline)

Now Republicans are putting party over country bc reasons??? Its not even clear what they disagree with on this bill, just that they dont like that democrats have something to do with it

And you supported it when Trump did it.

See how that keeps working against you?

Amusing, he's quite literally owning Republicans. Because nobody dares go against him lest he fund their primary challenger.

It's actually pretty disappointing how cheaply the whole Republican party sold themselves to a South African pedo guy, for. Very disappointing, surely they could have at least gotten an extra digit.

In which this has always been a pointless, stupid, transparent tactic by Republicans to slow down government dramatically by being intentionally inefficient as hell. This is old material.

Looks like it's fine now republicans have bend the knee to President Elon Musk and are introducing a clean bill. If this wasn't so obviously corrupt and damming it would be funny. One unelected billionaire is directing the entire US government and is weaponizing his platform to sway public opinion. Republicans saw Orwell's 1984 as a guide book not a warning.

eh information was the same, the latter was to make reading compensation easier for some that struggle with it.

The collection of particularly despicable billionaires working America's Republican Party like muppets wants to break American government, to better enable said billionaires to plunder the country. America is going to spend the immediate future getting looted like the Mongols taking Baghdad. If the United States even survives, it will take generations to claw back mere a fraction of what they're going to pillage.
"For the present this country is headed in directions which can only carry ruin to it and will create a situation here dangerous to world peace. With few exceptions, the men who are running this Government are of a mentality that you and I cannot understand. Some of them are psychopathic cases and would ordinarily be receiving treatment somewhere. Others are exalted and in a frame of mind that knows no reason."

In a better timeline Democrats would vote against this just to fuck with the republican party. But alas the consequences of having principles and caring about the country.

What do you think is so bad on this bill that its worth shutting down the government over?

If you want to cut government waste, then itd be better to give DOGE time look up stuff, do their thing and outline what they want cut and then come back with those specific cuts. You can then express your support for those cuts and for shutting down the government.

If you disagree with the process then this bill only gives people the necessary time to better determine the standards and then you can express your outrage as a citizen for how bills arent done this way. As is, the outrage of this bill is literally just that Musk is mad for reasons??? And everyone else is making up stuff after the fact to justify that.

It is a 1,500-page bill. So, I am sure there is some extra in there. However, all the extras are dwarfed by the $100B aid package for the hurricane and Maui fire victims.

They are going to tie those to future tax cuts so it HAS to pass. All this blabbing about clean bill and pork spending will be forgotten in a couple of months and we will get cries about how dare people oppose relief spending or how the tax cuts will make the economy grow so much!

Well the Dems are the minority/irrelevant party so why should they have any leverage?

DOGE was one of the best things we have seen.
