Who cares? It's literally not hurting anybody.

You're the one that's choosing to let it affect your day to day life, hanging on every word he says.
You have no understanding of American soft power, and as such nothing you say that has anything to do with international relationships should be considered
"Law and Order", lots of places have had that, Russia, North Korea, Saddam's Iraq.
Laws can be made to enforce order of cruelty and brutality.
Equality and Justice, that is how you have peace and a society that benefits all.

It's still a greater remove from controlled burns (why do they take place regularly in other parts of the country, but not in CA?), but that should be looked at. They take place regularly in California. YOU REPUBLICANS are the ones fighting it.

CA is in the mess it's in because of the party that runs it.

Why do you think people continue to leave in droves?

Newsom 2028 tho, right?? That should be a winner, after you spend the next 4 years calling people who disagree with you as deplorables and garbage.

Giving a "I'm doing what I can" is so 1980s. I suppose he should've blamed the fire on immigrants or transgender people or something, since the right actively celebrates lying and deflecting blame if it puts a target on someone they hate. In fact, I hear that kind of thing can get you into the White House nowadays. /s

Maybe, but will anyone live in those counties? Interesting choice of voting block to choose, not people but counties. Very interesting indeed.

The amount of pure, rancid bullshit MAGAs are spewing about the fires is making it hard for people to actually get information on the fires. No one needs to hear people ranting about how the Klamath river would somehow magically deliver water to LA or how letting the delta flood with salt water is a good thing somehow when they're trying to get actual information on the fires.

Especially since the reservoirs in LA are not even fucking dry.

Why didn't he just admit HE CONTROLS THE SANTA ANA WINDS AND IS ALLOWING THEM TO BLOW.

Maybe he could talk to Biden and get that weather machine that created the hurricane in Florida?

Or since we're on the topic of fabrications -- Get one of those Jewish Freeze Rays. I can't imagine they only have space lasers.

Doubtful. Despite his obvious ambitions, I don't think the Democrat national party leadership is going to back him as their choice in the next election.

Next to none, most likely. Voters will punish the GoP in 2028 and counties will shift back to the left.

So, on some news about the Orange Menace and his court cases, he lost both appeals. Lost. Both. Appeals.

First, a friendly Supreme Court basically told him that they wouldn't stay his sentencing and an appeals court told him that they won't block the release of Jack Smith's findings.

'Pathetic, dying remnants of the Witch Hunts': Trump rages on his app after legal blows

President-elect Donald Trump once again lashed out at the judge overseeing his New York hush-money case even as he thanked the Supreme Court — which on Thursday evening declined to delay his sentencing — for their "time and effort" in trying to "remedy the great injustice" he said was done to him.

Trump was dealt a pair of legal blows on Thursday evening, with the Supreme Court declining to delay his sentencing in Manhattan — meaning he'll return to the Oval Office as a convicted felon — and an appeals court rejecting an emergency request to block the release of special counsel Jack Smith's much-anticipated reported.

In a rant to Truth Social, Trump thanked the justices for considering his case — then raged at New York Judge Juan Merchan.

"I appreciate the time and effort of the United States Supreme Court in trying to remedy the great injustice done to me by the highly conflicted 'Acting Justice,' who should not have been allowed to try this case," wrote Trump. "Every Legal Scholar stated, unequivocally, that this is a case that should never have been brought. There was no case against me."

Trump added that he is "innocent of all of the Judge’s made up, fake charges" and decried what he called the "Weaponization" the justice system against a "Political Opponent."

"It’s called Lawfare, and nothing like this has ever happened in the United States of America, and it should never be allowed to happen again," he raged.

Trump specifically called out Merchan for placing a gag order on Trump in the case, blasting Merchan as "highly political and corrupt" and bemoaning that the judge took away his right to speak about "very important aspects of the case."

"For the sake and sanctity of the Presidency, I will be appealing this case, and am confident that JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL," he said.

Trump concluded by lambasting the cases against him.

"The pathetic, dying remnants of the Witch Hunts against me will not distract us as we unite and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" he railed.
And to top it off, since it deals with Trump and the 2020 election, Rudy Guiliani was called out on his bullshit on how he couldn't make it to court in person due to health/safety so the judge also said he had to state, under oath, that he also couldn't go anywhere else for 30 days due to the same health/safety reasons. He backtracked pretty quickly.

Rudy Giuliani backtracks after judge calls his bluff on inauguration plans

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani withdrew a request to appear virtually for an upcoming trial in New York after a judge ruled that he would also not be able travel to President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

In a motion on Wednesday, Giuliani asked U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell to allow him to appear virtually via Zoom video conference for a Jan. 10 contempt hearing, citing health reasons. Howell previously held Giuliani in contempt after he failed to turn over certain assets to former election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss in a $148 million defamation case.

Howell said she would allow Giuliani to appear virtually if he submitted a sworn declaration that he could not travel "in the next 30 days" due to medical conditions.

On Thursday, Giuliani quickly changed his mind about the virtual appearance after realizing that it meant he would not be able to attend Trump's inauguration.

"It currently appears that I will be required to appear in person for trial in the New York matter identified above starting on January 16, 2025," Giuliani wrote. "If it concludes before January 20th, I may travel to Washington, D.C. on the way home from Florida for the inauguration of President Trump, which will be a once-in-a-lifetime event in which I cannot participate by zoom, and for which there will be heightened security."

"I had hoped the Court would understand and accommodate my needs. However, it appears I was mistaken," he added. "Because it is difficult to cancel my two evening broadcasting commitments, and last-minute travel arrangements are uncertain, I have decided to withdraw my motion to appear virtually and to be physically present for tomorrow's hearing."

We all know you prefer rapists. You admitted you won't vote for a candidate who doesn't endorse rape.

As a side to all of this, I think that if you want to look at failures in government policy we can look at the hurricanes and floodings happening in Florida. Places that are built in former swamp areas prone to flooding and very much within the strike zone of hurricane risk, that have no insurance beyond that provided by the government (effectively subsidized)

Honestly, those who choose to live in disaster prone areas should be forced to pay for their own insurance that has a completely different pool or pay for the cleanup and rebuilding if they don't have insurance when their house gets damaged due to said disaster. They weren't forced to live there.

This is literally why their rates are higher.

That said, denying coverage period for houses in "danger areas" should happen more often. Insurance isn't something you're entitled to. If you can't insure your house, make better choices moving forward.

Florida and California are both states the most guilty of providing a government alternative to what private insurance has already figured out.

They chose the risk of avoiding controlled burns because they did not have the available personnel on hand to be able to do those controlled burns safely because those personnel were off fighting uncontrolled wildfires in other places.

Why are you intentionally leaving out the most important part of the information? Why are you always, ALWAYS deliberately dishonest?

Like, can you imagine the shitstorm that would have come down on them if they decided to go ahead with the controlled burns anyway and proceeded to ignite another uncontrolled wildfire because they intentionally started one without the means to properly safely control it?
