(responding to things you've said in this thread, can't actually refute the point I made in response to it)

This is the beauty of it. When I told you all about a year ago, in these very forums that you're going to lose it all, because Democrats were detached from reality - you all laughed. You can go find my posts from more than a year ago, back then I said this kind of attitude will have average Americans kick you out of the office. And it happened.

Because despite whatever you say, you really don't see outside your bubble of delusions you made up.
At least you've fully pulled the mask off, as we knew you would.

Always funny when cons pretend to be good people when not in power, then when they get in power they start strutting around and gloating about how much of a hellscape they're going to make everyone's lives like we didn't already call it but they denied it previously.

I love all the leftists/"centrists" who wanted to "stick it to Harris" over Gaza and now Trump has promised full, unrestricted access to US arms for Israel and promised to let Israel annex all of Gaza.

Yeah, you really showed Kamala who's... *Check notes* attending a gala and is going to return to her multi million dollar home and life a comfy life from now on. Yep, you sure showed them Dems, really stuck it to them you did, yep. I'm sure the people of Gaza are grateful to all the lefties who protest voted.

Have fun pretending your personal hobby horse puts you any higher than anyone else here. Speaking as someone who really dislikes the Democrats and their approaches to things; this is entirely about your false sense of superiority. You're not pushing for meaningful change, you're just looking to gloat over people while you yourself fecklessly did fuck-all to change anything yourself.

This kind of anti-intellectualism is usually what comes out of Trumpster's mouths.

If you're wondering why everyone else keeps pointing out you sound like a Trumpster, shit like this is why, dude.

Well, he just pardoned 1500 insurrectionists, still pushed the Greenland idea and other lunacy.

You can complain about a lot of things democrats got wrong such as Biden running when he shouldn't have and Harris messaging issues. However they did outreach to your average American and republicans have the same PHD, MBA and law degrees from ivy league schools on their side. Trump went to Wharton for fuck sake again you can go for messaging but this is ignorance peddling.

Insurrectionists pardoned. Whatever mostly, but I never want to hear Republicans talking about "backing the blue" ever again considering the pardons seem to include those who assaulted police officers. Including the American that did it with the hockey stick.

Don't worry a global pandemic will absolutely never happen again, the viruses will be scared by Trump's manliness like last time...

that's not the point. the point is: Americans are by design made to be ignorant and unware of things that aren't spoon fed to them by the media. this is cultivated and maintained by the ruling elite, who the Dem leadership are a part of. the problems for the Dems is unlike the Republicans; who dive head first into rhetoric that plays to their bases wants and desires. the Dems refuse to do that. that is what I'm talking about. like FFS, you think I'm not aware of how elite Trump is? I know he hates his base, but that doesn't stop him from saying the things they want to hear!

Will legitimately be really bad for grocery prices, among other things. (Especially right now in the winter. We get a lot of produce from Mexico.) Can only hope there's some slightly competent advisor with enough ability to talk Trump out of it.

Edit: I don't even think presidents should have the authority to enact tariffs. Should be limited to Congress. SC will never stand in the way of Trump's Executive Orders though, shit's fucked.

You do realize that your entire argument boils down to you admitting to being ignorant, and whining that the Democrats aren't being racist enough to make placate your ignorance?

Trump supporters keep on having the weirdest of takes.

I'm curious if we'll see them announce retaliatory tariffs on key southern industries that cause a reversal of our bold promises, again.

Broadly speaking, they don't. Trump is justifying it on extremely spurious grounds of "national security lol" and basically just banking on nobody challenging it.

Under ordinary circumstances I would expect it to get smacked the fuck down, because there are only two situations where Congress has given the president the authority to impose tariffs unilaterally:
    1. When the country is at war (the tariffs do not need to be related to the war).,
    2. When there is "an adverse impact on national security from imports", but the tariffs can be no higher than 15% and expire after 150 days unless extended by Congress.

Obviously, though, these are anything but ordinary circumstances, and I fully expect Republicans in both Congress and the Supreme Court to just sit around with their thumbs up their butts and go with it rather than dare to gainsay God Emperor Trump.
