Trump needs to fix the Bird Flu thing ASAP. A shortage of eggs brings me back memories of Venezuela
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/08/u...inflation.html
He promised to bring the price of groceries down and he's just not doing that yet. It's the Trump administration, stop blaming his failures on the previous administration.

Seems largely procedural, until RFK Jr or the new HHS is confirmed (Jan 29th?).
Not saying it's good or bad in the short term, just unsurprising since the new HHS director will definitely have new funding/research priorities.

True, but there's plenty of time.
Sure, Bird flu is becoming a problem again, but do tell for inquiring minds, what's Trump going to do about it? Because the stuff so far seems to amount to "shut down or severely hinder every group that tries to get things like this under control" which, I don't know, maybe I've forgotten everything I know about logistics in the past week, but it sounds like that's going to make the problem significantly worse short-term and keep it worse long-term.
Unless he starts getting farmers to start shipping contaminated eggs, but that'll probably lead to bigger problems than pricing.
confirmed by my uncle nitnendo and masahiro samurai

Have you checked the price of milk? Bird flu is rampant in dairy cows.
A multistate outbreak of HPAI A(H5N1) bird flu in dairy cows was first reported on March 25, 2024. This is the first time that these bird flu viruses had been found in cows. In the United States, since 2022, USDA APHIS has reported HPAI A(H5N1) virus detections in more than 200 mammals.
I like the explicit callout of prices going up.
Need to see more of that. If people passively thought prices were going up because of vague comments about Biden, they’re definitely going to notice when they’re absolutely called out as going up under Trump.
And seeing as Trump’s whole “marketability” to the non-psychotic voter was supposedly tied to his ability to make prices lower, it’ll be reeeaaaaal hard for people trying to defend whatever nonsense he’s trying to pull… if everything people actually care about is more expensive.
Normal person: “Damn trump made the process of X, Y and Z skyrocket”
Trumpist: “Uhhh but uhhh he banned trans people from sportsball, just like he promised he would!”
“
Normal person: “why the fuck should care about there being trans people in sports? We can’t afford basic food anymore!”
To which the average trumpist will have a pretty hard time defending him. And by extensions… the gop at large.
Look, @Somewhatconcerned is already flailing to cover for Trump and it hasn’t even been a week.

Why hasn't he ended the war in Ukraine? He said he could do it in a day? It's been two full days and we're on day three.

Talking about RFK Jr, "DO NOT DRINK RAW MILK!!"
California suspends company’s sale of raw milk after new outbreak of bird flu
37 cases of human bird flu cases in CA. All in Central Valley from drinking raw milk.
Pasteurized milk is fine. Pasteurization effectively kills the H5N1 avian influenza virus. Just like it was intended.
Basically, don't listen to RFK Jr. for health advise.
Not even 1 week and egg prices have doubled. When are my price reductions coming Donald. When are my energy cost reductions coming as well when my energy company is raising rates atm? It almost seems like it was all a lie xdd. Tbh democrats need to take the republican path and just directly blame Trump for every minor thing that happens since it works so well on the idiots in our electorate. Mac and cheese costs 2 cent more? THE RADICAL RIGHT IS RAISING YOUR GROCERY PRICES.
Dem overreach? Lmao. I wish, we'd finally get good things done in this country.
I thought he was going to lower prices "on day one." Also, I'm sure grocery chains are also partaking in some lovely price gouging considering how toothless Trump's FTC and DOJ will be.
Something the cultists will point at while yelling "See? SEE! He did that!"
"Okay. How are they going to do that?"To accomplish that, Mr. Trump is ordering the departments and agencies that fall under the executive branch, including the departments of Commerce, Health and Human Services, Labor, and Energy, to take actions that lower prices for everything from housing and health costs to food and fuel.
He didn't say.
"Can they do that?"
Maybe? We'll find out. There are four options:
1) Yes, they can lower or remove taxes and fees on corporations and hope those savings trickle down. We all know how that works. It doesn't.
2) Yes, they can lower or remove taxes and fees on individuals.
3) Yes, they can, but they choose not to.
4) No.
Obviously options 1 and 2 lower federal revenue, so that would have Trump directly increasing the deficit despite campaigning on doing the opposite. I'm sure people will forgive that, if they don't see any direct effects and option #2 is taken.
Options 3 and 4, of course, mean Trump is yelling at other people to DO SOMETHING! to take credit and distance himself from the problem when it goes poorly.
So, Trump supporters, go ahead and bookmark this post right here. If and when Trump actually directly lowers taxes on individuals, you have every right to say "See? SEE! He did that!" Until then, you have a talking point, the inkling of an idea, someone screaming into the wind. You have words. Words from the most blatant liar to ever disgrace the White House.

Your energy cost will go up. Even in Texas. Decrepit transmission systems need to be upgraded.
Most of those lines are owned by private companies. I doubt they will fund all those projects by taking less profits.

More tax cut for corporations? No wonder they supported Trump. Afterall, in 2017 he did reduce corporate tax from 35% to 21%. Now keep in mind that corporate only pay tax on profit. Not revenue. As individual, I would love to pay tax after mortgage, grocery, electricity, gasoline, etc.
Indeed. Trump supporters have to suffer pre-existing conditions of whiplash trying to follow Trump's statements.
JD Vance was famously called out for this.
If it's bird flu now, why wasn't it bird flu then?“Looking at the prices here, things are way too expensive and they’re way too expensive because of Kamala Harris’s policies,” he told shoppers.
He was interrupted by his son, who pointed at the egg cartons behind him. “Let’s talk about eggs,” Vance continued. “Because these guys actually eat about 14 eggs every single morning,” the Ohio senator said, pointing to his sons.
"Also, Vance at the time was standing in front of eggs with a listed price of $2.29"
I cannot find anything Trump said that was egg-specific, but I did find this:
So, yep, Trump lied. Big surprise there. Even his cultists know it.Trump recently claimed that the economy has gotten so bad under President Joe Biden that food prices have skyrocketed.
Speaking to the National Rifle Association Feb. 9 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Trump said food “costs 40%, 50%, 60% more than it did just a few years ago.”
Food prices have risen unusually rapidly under Biden, along with consumer prices overall. Although inflation has eased over the past year, it peaked in mid-2022 at a level unseen in four decades.
However, Trump exaggerated the scale of the food price increase. The lowest figure Trump offered, 40%, is about twice as high as the actual rate of increase under Biden.
By contrast, in Biden’s first three years, food prices increased by 20.3%. That rise stemmed from the same causes that drove overall inflation higher — supply-chain difficulties during and after the coronavirus pandemic, exacerbated by policies Biden pursued early in his presidency that put more money into Americans’ hands when supplies of goods were limited.
But even the unusually high food inflation during Biden’s first three years has not come close to the 40% to 60% cited by Trump.
Food prices have risen 40% from April 2012 to today, and they have risen 60% from August 2007 to today. But these rises over 12 and 16 years are longer than just “a few years ago.”
Trump may have been extrapolating from the price rise for one particular food — eggs — that skyrocketed by 229% from January 2021, when Biden came into office, to January 2023. This price increase was tied to bird flu outbreaks. That cost spike receded, although egg prices remain 72% higher today than when Biden entered office in early 2021.
Trump in September falsely claimed that the price of bacon was five times higher under Biden; the increase at the time of his statement was 30%. Bacon’s price is now about 13% higher than when Biden became president.
Team Trump said it was inflation and bad economic policies. For them to suddenly say it's bird flu three days later is just flat-out hypocrisy. Yes, for a Trump supporter, telling the truth is now hypocrisy. If they really thought it was bird flu, they had years to say such. Until they can quote themselves saying such, they should be disregarded as insincere.

That's my second pick, by the way. I think Trump is just yelling "LOWER PRICES!" out an open window, and somehow hoping that it works.
Ah yes, the tax cut for the rich. Fairly sure that lowered tax rate is permanent for corporations. Pretty sure a lot of individuals will see the changes revert this year. As always, by "pretty sure" I mean "here is the link."Afterall, in 2017 he did reduce corporate tax from 35% to 21%.
"Wait, so federal revenue will go up! MAGA!"In May 2024, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the expiration of the TCJA’s individual tax provision would raise government revenues by $4.6 trillion from FY2025 – 2034, about 1.3% of projected GDP.
Yes, by about $460 billion per year. From the expiration of individual's benefits. Tell me, how many taxpayers are in the USA?
"Well, the population is about 460 million, so 460 million."
Kids pay taxes...interesting. Fine, let's roll with it. What's $460 billion divided by 460 million people?
"That sounds like Common Core new math!"
It's a thousand dollars. Now to be fair, the benefits are top-loaded. This list shows how much money/percent of your income you'll lose, based on your income bracket:
- Lowest Quintile $130 −0.6
- Second Quintile $480 −1.0
- Middle Quintile $1,030 −1.3
- Fourth Quintile $1,930 −1.4
- Top Quintile $8,920 −2.2
"Oh...well, if I was willing to shrug off $2,000 in tariffs directly imposed on me, as was clearly established in an earlier post, I'll shrug off another thousand too. No price is too high to pay to bring prices down!"

People have no idea that Corporations have it good. Flat tax rate of 21%. As individuals ours cap at 37%.
You get to deduct pretty much everything and depreciate all your equipment and real estates. That's why we form LLCs. For those deductions and depreciations. Yes, you can deduct the toilet paper supply that you provide at your vacation rental properties.
