I’d have to imagine the excuse of “DEI” is going to burn out very quickly.

People weren’t invested in Trump (well, most people at least) because he vowed to fight “DEI,” they were invested in him because they erroneously believed he was going to lower prices.

Prices go up, Trump does nothing but whine about DEI until it’s lost all meaning. Tragedies like this happen, trump does nothing but whine about DEI.

And there’s no one he can pass the blame on to. I mean he’ll obviously try, but in any way that most people buy? I highly doubt it.

i guess politicizing the dead before the bodies are cold is actually a Very Good Thing Now(TM).
Wouldn’t be surprised if they already do know but trump just doesn’t care and knows the fact check Will get less press.
Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.

i mean, there are flight logs/records. but of course nobody in the administration could be bothered to come with information because that would make blaming obama and dei much harder.

What carnage will he/they have wreaked before 2028, though?

Genuinely, I'm not being deliberately facetious - will Americans still be able to elect a president in 2028?

    He's dismantling the federal state

    https://www.npr.org/2025/01/30/nx-s1...-investigation

President Trump's new head of the Federal Communications Commission has ordered an investigation of NPR and PBS, with an eye toward unraveling federal funding for all public broadcasting.

"I am concerned that NPR and PBS broadcasts could be violating federal law by airing commercials," Chairman Brendan Carr wrote on Wednesday to the presidents and chief executives of NPR and PBS, Katherine Maher and Paula A. Kerger, respectively. "In particular, it is possible that NPR and PBS member stations are broadcasting underwriting announcements that cross the line into prohibited commercial advertisements."

The FCC does not directly regulate the two networks. Instead, it evaluates the actions of roughly 1,500 public broadcasting stations across the country, which hold licenses granted by the FCC for use of public airwaves for radio and television, even in the digital age.

Public broadcasting stations are prohibited from running commercials. Instead they present what are considered corporate underwriting spots, which are supposed to stop shy of a "call to action" telling listeners and viewers to buy a product or service.

Both CEOs rejected the claim that the public broadcasters had violated federal laws or practices that stretch back decades.

"PBS is proud of the noncommercial educational programming we provide to all Americans through our member stations," Kerger said in a statement shared with NPR. "We work diligently to comply with the FCC's underwriting regulations and welcome the opportunity to demonstrate that to the Commission."

In a statement posted publicly, Maher said NPR's corporate sponsorship credits and programs complied with federal regulations and FCC guidelines.

"We are confident any review of our programming and underwriting practices will confirm NPR's adherence to these rules," Maher stated. "We have worked for decades with the FCC in support of noncommercial educational broadcasters who provide essential information, educational programming, and emergency alerts to local communities across the United States."
Donald and Republicans are coming for public media, now. PBS and NPR receive minimal direct federal funding (more goes to member stations), and are immensely valuable resources of news, information, and more that serves all Americans - especially poorer Americans.

The attacks on the First Amendment will continue.

Fox and Friends interview with Trump about declassifying files. Trump's original response on releasing the Epstein files was so obviously bad that in the Fox official release of the interview they cut out most of his response. But we know exactly why Trump won't release the Epstein files. He was friends with the guy for 20+ years and appears multiple times in the flight logs of the "lolita express" and even has a couple of photos of him on the plane with very young looking girls.

Epstein files are NEVER coming out. Trump knows his name is all over them, Republicans know their names are all over it too. Democrats also know some of their names are on there too. The Epstein files are mutually assured destruction for everyone involved, so nobody is going to release them. The Epstein files are just saber rattling between parties.

Conservatives like Seb Gorka are now whining about people being fixated on how DonOld has done nothing to lower prices like he promised he would on the campaign trail and that the actual really important thing is deporting immigrants and more or less said people concerned about prices should shut up.

We just said we were going to lower your grocery prices so you would vote for us. Our real plan is to deport brown people, regardless of legal or undocumented status or even if they're an American citizen. So just shut up about your eggs while we deport your kids for speaking out against Israel on their college campus!

The hypocrisy of these clowns is just galling.

They spent well over a year acting as if Biden himself was responsible for high prices but now that DonOld is in charge prices suddenly don't matter anymore.

I've seen tweets from MAGAbillies declaring they would happily pay 20 bucks for a dozen eggs just to be safe in their community from brown people. They didn't say the last bit but they did declare they cared more about being 'safe' so it's a pretty easy inference to make.

Spoiler warning for them: Normal people will not tolerate paying 20 bucks for a dozen eggs.

You'd think a million deaths would be enough. It's going to have to be really brutal this time.

No, this is what the American voters wanted. There isn't a "they didn't know", everyone knew. But the people who wanted this to happen outnumbered the people who didn't, and that's how democracy works. This isn't an anomaly, this IS America.

As more and more disasters continue to happen, as more Americans die, as those on assistance stop receiving checks, as people lose their jobs, as grocery prices sky rocket, the American people are slowly going to stop accepting the "It's DEI's fault!" excuse.

Of course Trump and Musk firing thousands of air traffic safety workers led to chaos and eventually led to the deaths of Americans, but we're still less than a month out from Biden ending his presidency. But once Trump has finished gutting the Government and implemented his tariffs, who will they have left to blame?

I doubt there is a scenario when elections will not be held. Whether those elections will be fair is another thing. I expect an unprecedented amount of voter suppression to be enabled.

And yeah, even if the Democrats manage a proper victory in 2028, the damage to the state will be significant. At some point, senior talent will just take the money and run instead of having to deal with a hostile work environment. The loss of institutional knowledge is hard to recover.

Trump's mishandling of Covid amounted to the equivalent deaths of this plane crash happening every hour of every day. The American people decided "yeah let's have more of that." I no longer trust our country to make intelligent decisions.
