Oh no, the union workers that voted for Donald might realize it was a really stupid idea. Probably not, but this is going to fuck regular Americans.

I've notice none of our resident conservatives have come to cheerlead these recent developments. Curiouser and curiouser.

So, I wonder what will happen when Trump decides to say "Unions aren't legal in this country" by fiat. Will the Teamsters go apeshit because now their union job is effectively removed and now can be fired for any reason? What about the Longshoreman Union that pretty much almost shut down the ports?

I know the GOP will let it happen along with a good bit of Democrats because none of them have any backbone.

There's going to be a manpower crisis. Have you seen the government employee buyout?

Trump ordered all government employees to return to office. Well a) a lot of the jobs do not require a central office. offices do not exist because they werent necessary, people have moved out everyday communte range, etc. The employees can't return or it will increase costs/reduce efficiency if they do. b) the memo that was released written in such a way that you probably want to take the offer for your own financial security and piece of mind. The vague plan outlined in the memo sounds like hell. Exactly what you would expect if a large firm bought out a small one and is liquidating everything. Everyone who stays id just going to be doing the dismantling.


But on top of the perceived exodus, a swift one so there will be a brain drain, people ( well people who know what they are doing or are trainable) won't be rushing to fill the spots. No fucking way. We saw a little bit of that during Trump's first term but it's going to be a lot worse.

Oh of those who do remain their bosses, the Trump appointees, they are going to be idiots. Anyone remember when Project 2025 documents leaked? Most of it was just telling appointees (not the big secretaries but lower level department heads) how to work with other people. These people couldn't manage manage a lemonade stand but we're about to have a bunch nepobabies and friends who are owed favors by Trump appointed to a bunch of department heads and management positions, the real diversity hires. They are going to be awful and the people who would others be their to clean up their messes are leaving the public sector. The fed is about to get real shitty.

Economically we're probably going to get our asses kicked too. Countries are already talking about growing closer to China. These billionaires running the country do not know how to play the game China plays. They are going let China push right past the US as they are only concerned with "fuck you i got mine" profit margins.

The problem with that buyout is that there is no guarantee of actually getting paid. It is basically you agreeing to resign at said date. It is a pre-emptive removal of any unemployment benefits the workers would get.

However, even if they did agree to pay, right now there is no way the workers can do anything about it seeing as the place you would go to, the NLRB, is effectively dead so you have to turn around to a now very business friendly DoL. So effective, these workers are screwed in every way possible.

I will say this, and I know it is forbidden on this site so if I get banned, so be it.

I can absolutely see Trump getting shot at a whole lot more as there will be a lot more pissed off people. And unless he never leaves the bunker, the windows on the White House are not bulletproof(the Resolute Desk where he signs everything has a BIG window behind it) along with the White House not being reinforced to reduce the damage by stuff like RPGs.

A fairly basic google search spits out the info that the average Accurate range of a modern sniper rifle is nearly one kilometre. That's a shitload of range for the SS to be covering in the event that there are any relatively determined angry marksmen with access to a modern weapon willing to make the attempt.

Personally, if I was Trump, I'd be way more worried about some rando with enough prep time getting "creative". Like, modern camera drones are capable of hitting flight ceilings of several KILOMETERS while carrying multi pound payloads. Not sure how good detection tech is for that kind of thing, but I doubt most SS agents are going to spot a drone not much bigger than a lunchbox painted sky blue cruising at 2K altitude, and I'd be 100% willing to believe you could get it over a Trump golf course and drop a small guided ordinance on him before anyone realized what had happened.

As a UK citizen I advocate for more trade with our EU neighbours, I generally tend not to purchase american products if it can be helped.
