That is the thing here. The pilot of the airplane most definitely could have not seen the Blackhawk as they are designed to not be seen at night along with running somewhat silent. Second part of that really doesn't matter as pilots cannot hear anything outside of the airplane but there are those who would argue "Why didn't the pilot hear the helicopter?"

This is literally on the military as, unlike a commercial airliner, helicopters can easily change direction. And since it is on the military, the blame rests completely with Trump and his head of the Pentagon.

Information being withheld from the populace seems to be standard operating procedure as of late. Everything from health concerns to a plane crash is being concealed from the public.

I had some MAGAbilly on another website tell me with a straight face that tariffs do not cause inflation, only government monetary creation does.

    These people are fucking insane.

I've been politically neutral for most of the stuff so far, being a non-American. I disliked both presidential candidates, and often wondered why these are the only 2 people in a fuckhuge country with 340 million people who were deemed worthy to lead it.

But these tariffs are horrible. I was hoping for reserved tariff rates, like the ones the EU is using against China etc, but these are huge. This is playing with fire.

Some of this reminds me of the 1930s. I know people see me as a doom and gloom guy on this forum when it comes to financial matters, but hear me out.

We have an overlevereged stock market. We have credit tightening, and I really hope the FED start loosening sooner rather than later. The ECB have already started lowering rates ahead of schedule. We have the magnificent 7 in tech forming a bubble worth trillions. We have a debt market that shows anxiety. We have a bond yield curve that has inverted, which is historically the surest way to predict a recession in the coming year.

Now we have retaliatory tariffs, huge ones, on major commodities. The Smoot-Hawley tariff act of 1930 was one of the leading causes of the Great Depression. This seems way worse.

Of course we have all sorts of systems in place like FDIC and quantitative easing, but they don't make the problem go away.

I can only hope this is a 500 IQ move that is way above my understanding, because shit can get fucked really fast. Maybe the markets see this as a slight hiccup, and inflation can be kept in check but I just don't know.

It's good of you to be optimistic, but I'm not sure Trump & Co. even have 50 IQ between the lot of them.

What annoys me is the fact that there is no reason for these tariffs, unless I'm just not seeing something.

Because trump needed an economic-sounding word to say to dumb uneducated voters who wanted their eggs to be cheaper that would make it sound like other countries would be paying America, needed the actual explanation refuting him to be slightly too complicated to explain in a sentence, and is now doubling down on his bad idea because he’s a toddler.

Oh, I can explain that one:

    1. Trump is retarded.
    2. The Project 2025 folks and various billionaires (Elon is the most outspoken) have made it very clear they want to hurt the economy so the rich can buy up as much real estate and equity so they can milk the general population as much as possible.

They're not subtle about it at all for anyone paying a modicum of attention

    There is, I'll explain:

Trump, even in the WH, has limited options. He cannot, for example, fund his own Wall. He does have the authority to apply tariffs with, well, apparently no restrictions. Therefore, Trump, using the word "tariff" over and over so people ignore the fact it's a tax, can claim to be doing something that hurts other countries, while of course applying a regressive tax on the American taxpaying public, slightly more than half of which are cheering this on even as they complained prices were too high for four years.

...oh, you mean, how will it help the country. It won't. They're not meant to.

So when they go to buy something to remodel their home, and the price of lumber is at a minimum of 50% higher after these tariffs are enacted, he'll be fine with it, right?

Because that is what will happen.

This is Trump basically trying to bully the world into doing what he wants.

That is why I have posted, and gotten mocked about it, in this thread that the world needs to stop trading with the US until Congress does its job and removes him and his cronies out of power. Don't sell anything to the US and don't buy anything from the US. I live in the US so I will be directly affected and sometimes you need to do a drastic treatment to remove a cancer.

So, a judge basically told Trump he is an idiot and his executive order on freezing all funds is unconstitutional and is to not be listened to. One reason is because his press secretary.

Federal judge deals Trump a court blow— citing comments by his press secretary

A federal judge in Rhode Island has blocked President Donald Trump's controversial move to freeze the dispensation of federal grants and funding to nongovernmental organizations — citing in part comments made by his press secretary.

The relief was granted on behalf of numerous Democratic state attorneys general, who sued to block Trump from moving ahead. Trump's order, laid out in a memo by the Office of Management and Budget, had led to widespread chaos as everything from the Medicaid portal to organizations like Meals on Wheels were unsure if they would get funding to stay open.

"Because of the breadth and ambiguity of the 'pause,' the Court must consider the States’ TRO motion today based on the effect it will have on many — but perhaps not all — grants and programs it is intended to cover," wrote Judge John McConnell. "Are there some aspects of the pause that might be legal and appropriate constitutionally for the Executive to take? The Court imagines there are, but it is equally sure that there are many instances in the Executive Orders’ wide-ranging, all-encompassing, and ambiguous 'pause' of critical funding that are not. The Court must act in these early stages of the litigation under the 'worst case scenario' because the breadth and ambiguity of the Executive’s action makes it impossible to do otherwise."

In particular, McConnell wrote, the plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits for a variety of reasons — including that state governments could suffer "irreparable harm" if the order goes into effect.

The Trump administration tried to argue the issue was moot because the OMB memo was revoked shortly after the outcry — but McConnell said the order that underpinned the memo was still very much in effect. "About twenty minutes before the Defendants filed the Notice, the President’s Press Secretary sent a statement via the X platform that said: “The President’s [Executive Orders] EO’s on federal funding remain in full force and effect and will be rigorously implemented,” McConnell noted.

"During the pendency of the Temporary Restraining Order, Defendants shall not pause, freeze, impede, block, cancel, or terminate Defendants’ compliance with awards and obligations to provide federal financial assistance to the States, and Defendants shall not impede the States’ access to such awards and obligations, except on the basis of the applicable authorizing statutes, regulations, and terms," wrote McConnell.

Fox "News" already reported that Donald Trump didn't do any investigating, didn't do any information seeking before blaming DEI.

Wonder where all the Trumpers who were posting in this thread are now? They've been conspicuously absent for days now.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has dramatically increased the amount of water flowing from two dams in Tulare County, sending massive flows down a river channel toward farmlands in the San Joaquin Valley.

Federal records show that water releases from Terminus Dam at Lake Kaweah and Schafer Dam at Lake Success jumped early Friday morning.

That was four days after President Trump said on social media that the U.S. military had “entered” California and “TURNED ON THE WATER.” Trump also vowed during a visit to Los Angeles last week to “open up the valves and pumps” in California to deliver more water.

According to federal data, the flow from Terminus Dam into the Kaweah River near Visalia increased from 57 cubic feet per second to more than 1,500 on Friday morning. The flow from Lake Success near Porterville into the Tule River increased from 105 cubic feet per second to 990.

The Army Corps of Engineers is “conducting controlled water releases” from the two dams, said Tyler Stalker, a spokesperson for the Corps in Sacramento. “The action is being coordinated with local officials. The releases are within the capacity of the downstream waterways.”

Responding to questions about the reasons for the sudden increase in water flow, Gene Pawlik, a spokesperson at the Corps’ headquarters in Washington, said in an email that the action was “consistent with the direction” in a Trump’s recent executive order to enact “emergency measures to provide water resources” in California.

Pawlik said the Army Corps was releasing water from the dams “to ensure California has water available to respond to the wildfires.” It was not immediately clear how or where the federal government intends to transport the water.

The water was released from the dams as two approaching atmospheric river storms were forecast to bring snow and rain to California.

Dam managers in California regularly release water ahead of major storms to make room in reservoirs for more runoff. But the federal agency’s comments about Trump’s executive order suggest that this case was different.

Aaron Fukuda, general manager of the Tulare Irrigation District, told the news site SJV Water that normally such flood releases are “done with a lot of notification and coordination.”

“I’ve been doing this 18 years and have never seen something like this.”
Feds are acting recklessly and irresponsibly without any consideration for the consequences or normal procedures because of course they are.

Now to wait for the "nobody could have ever predicted these consequences because nobody thought out this or planned anything".

And if it happened you know DonOld would be blaming Newsom or anyone but himself even though he was the one who gave the order.
