If that was seriously their worry, then the dangerous factor is Trump, and they should be working to have him removed from office. If they're ethically-minded, as you say.

There's metric shittons of cause to do so. Far more cause than there was with Bill Clinton.

Second, lying to the public isn't a crime. They're free to do so.

They're likely concerned with getting fired by Trump. Which is more likely to keep them in their jobs; lying to the public and Trump and trying to make Trump look good? Or telling the truth and admitting they think Trump is a moron, publicly?
Or they could take the 3rd option - Choosing not to say anything at all in response to anything? That's considered a smart move by most people...

Oh, I understand the idea perfectly. I get it - I don't agree with how they're handling is what I'm saying. :P

If Dump threatens to fire them over that, then maybe - oh, I dunno - leave and go to Mueller/the press or even potentially take legal action against him? You can't fire somebody because they said bad things about you behind your back unless what they're saying is compromising the company in some way. Sure, Dumpy can twit stupid shit out accusing them of molesting pandas in closets or whatever, and then try to fire them... and then they can take their stuff to Mueller and whomever else. Leave us not also talk about being punished for disobeying orders (In this case, Dump theoretically telling them to publicly appologize) and Nuremburg...

Again, as I wrote, I CAN understand if this is some long-game in conjunction with Mueller - but I don't believe for one second they're in there trying to "keep the peace". >_<

Unless Trump thinks Woodward's quoting them correctly, in which case, fired.

GUYS, WE FOUND SOMETHING APPROACHING VOTER FRAUD!

An independent Congressional candidate in Virginia will be removed from the ballot this November. Why? Because over 80 signatures collected for their candidacy were proven to be falsified - including those of dead people. But the candidate, Shaun Brown, isn't alone in being at fault here. Who else is? Republican candidate Scott Taylor and his campaign, who helped Brown gather signatures in the hopes of hurting his Democratic opponent.

Six people involved with the Taylor campaign have signed affidavits saying they would plead the fifth if asked if Taylor "personally" directed them to collect signatures, local outlet WTKR reported.
Relevant bit, as the campaign now has a special prosecutor looking into Taylor's staff to see if they violated the law. The corruption and rot within the GOP continues to be shown the light of day, maybe Trump really is unintentionally doing something about the swamp by bringing out all the once-hidden swamp creatures to light as they're emboldened by his own corruption.

Well, this is how the GOP always seem to know voter fraud exists; because they're the ones committing such shenanigans.

So it's not just necessarily to do with Trump but remember those poisonings in the UK and it was speculated to be Russians? Well now it's been officially confirmed to have been orchestrated by official GRU operatives who were were being monitored and their actions followed since they came into the country.

Reason I'm putting this here is that we now have clear evidence of official Russian military operatives assassinating people on allied soil and Trump insists on being buddy buddy with the guy calling the shots.

No, see, those were just patriotic Russians acting on their own purely out of a sense of nationalistic pride and Putin had nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Reminder that Donald Trump has a deep dislike of the First Amendment. Not only has he made his dislike of "freedom of the press" known, he's not making his dislike of "freedom of assembly" known via an interview with *snickers* Daily Caller.

So he's posited restricting freedom of the press. He's posited removing freedom of assembly. He's posited taking peoples guns without due process.

At what point does the party that has so vocally supported a strict Constitutionalist view actually decide that they're tired of the frequent attacks on Constitutional rights from the highest office in the land?

They don't care because the voters don't care. Modern day "Republicans" have proven time and time again, and even admitted it at points, that they're okay with rights being stripped and a fascist government as long as it's not THEIR rights and it's THEIR team in charge.

And now Trump is discussing Mattis's replacement.

Note that it's not looking like they're going to fire Mattis but fear of an imminent resignation.
