Yeah, but Washington's birthday didn't become a federal holiday until 1879, nearly a century after he died, and Lincoln's birthday - while observed in several states - was never a federal holiday and, again, wasn't celebrated by anyone until he was dead. Proposing it for a living president is absurd, especially paired with the bill calling him the architect of a golden age that hasn't actually happened yet.

Completely agree. I was just answering the question if we celebrate any President's birthdays, not advocating to do it for Trump. He wouldn't deserve even in 100+ years.

I wouldn't be surprised if plenty of people have already benefitted from his presidency (and not just the ones who got in on the various crypto scams that popped up and then popped instantly). So it just depends on who the "golden" is for...since for most of us it's just going to be oligarch piss raining on our heads.

Total clown show. I figured that he is going to cut the Federal Government workforce. I thought he was going to use a scalpel. Instead, he is using a sledgehammer. Who the hell thought mass layoff of the Federal workforce is a good idea.

Protip: It is a standard tactic of a vulture capitalist to basically brute force things to be broken to find out how far to cut. Yes, Elon Musk and the like are vulture capitalists. This is the exact same thing he did with Twitter and shortly after his "Fork in the Road" email there, he fired 80% of all staff.

The adage they use it: "If something isn't broken, you haven't cut deep enough yet.".

Also, it is LITERALLY in one of the few playbooks that were out there. Project2025 literally called for the firing of nearly all civil servants and replacing them with loyalists. DOGE has a playbook where it is in multiple phases and the same thing.

It is a psychological attack to try and demoralize a bunch of people by basically showing them that they are expendable and able to be replaced at any time. The problem being is a LOT of these jobs are extremely specialized and require advanced knowledge in order to do them properly.

This is why I and many others keep saying that Musk is the one in charge because it is the thing he is known for.

My fear is that it will be the exact same thing Saddam did back when he got into power in 1979 and did a very real and very public mass purge of dissidents within the government.

Here in a couple of weeks, the State of the Union address is coming up. I figure something big will happen around that timeframe.

Maybe he'll just come out and declare Martial Law without there actually being anything to declare it and we will get to see the GOP finally dissolve the US Constitution by clapping their hands like a bunch of trained and go back to wanting a Monarchy. Because that is what Conservatism actually is rooted in. Wanting to go back to a Monarchy.
