For little over a century, every republican president has overseen a recession that they caused. (In Hoover's case it was the Great Depression)
And such always resulted in a Democrat getting elected.

Here's my biggest concern about Trump and Elon's presidency. Think about how Trump scammed hundreds of people and businesses through the 80's 90's and 00's, he kept them in legal proceedings until it was too expensive and they folded. He used the justice system to delay justice by submitting endless deferments, appeals, and other requests that slow down the justice system. He KNOWS how to play the justice system.

So all of the things he's doing now, and all of the things he's doing in the future, Democrats will go "Well that's illegal, he can't do that" Oh yeah? So what are you going to do about it? Write Trump a sternly worded letter? File a court case against each of the 500000 things he's done illegal so far? Trump doesn't care about the legality of anything he's doing, and he's made that clear. He knows that if Dems come after him with threats of legal prosecution, nothing is going to happen because even when he can't pardon himself and his yes-men, he can endlessly clog up our justice system.

Face it, the courts failed us when it came to Trump. If he lost the 2024 election he'd be rotting in jail, but Elon made sure he won the election, made sure so well that Elon and Trump both knew they'd won before the election was even called. Y'all best be ready for a fascist run government unless we have Democrats or some other left wing party willing to step up and simply remove Trump and Elon from power forcefully. Nothing else will work, and any action taken like jailing Trump and Elon or killing them will very likely devolve the country into civil war as MAGA gets furious that their fuhrers are taken.

So I normally try to think of something clever, but this time it's so repugnant it just needs to be quoted.

Jan. 6 Rioters Argue Pardons Apply to Charges Including Murder Plot, Child Porn

Much like Reconstruction after the Civil War, the US dropped the ball not firing the Jan 6th rioters into the sun as soon as they were convicted.

when you say "bloodbath" are you picturing a long term electoral shift? or do you just mean that the nominal flipping that happens almost every mid-term cycle will be unusually large in terms of democratic wins?
There won't be "nominal" flipping. Democrats are going to gain 30+ seats in the house. This isn't a nominal flip. Normal pendulum shifts are under 20 seats when control flips. There have been a total of like, 15 instances in 119 houses.

Every time you're seeing news of farms closing, federal workers losing jobs in red states, etc. All of those are going to be house seats that flip from Red to Blue in the midterms because of how impactful it is to those local communities.

by that i mean, do you anticipate that this "bloodbath" will extend into '32, '34, and beyond? or would you expect it to last for the immediate political moment and then revert to the previous norm?
The shift will be long term if Democrats can capitalize on it which shouldn't be hard for them to do if they can get a majority and a Dem president with a mandate to help the American people.

I just gave you a brief history lesson in my last post.

While control of the house did shift back and fourth between Democrats and Republicans, between 1946 and 1996, Democrats controlled the house for 40 out of those 50 years and Senate Control remained in Democrat hands for 44 out of those 50 years. Meanwhile, there was only a Democrat in the Presidency for 28 of those 50 years.

This is why there was more bi-partisanship.

Meanwhile, when you look at like 1900-1946 (again, very reminiscent of things going on between the early 1900s and the late 1990s and early 2000s as far as war, recessions, etc).

Republicans controlled the House like 24 years and the Senate for like 30 years during that 47 year span.
The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped form our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.

It is because their entire lives they had been told they were special and smart. From birth, to early childhood, to teenage years via their parents, then they got the entire mainstream media telling them that conservatives are just smurt and the damn liburals are the ones ruining the country.

They just learned they arent special snowflakes and they are actually useless to the king the hard way. Tough shit.

I think we should have taken notes on how republicans acted after their devastating loss to Obama. They gunked up the entire system to deny Obama any wins, congress is a body that is designed for obstruction because it has so many obscure rules they used every single one of them to slow down confirmations even simple votes on things they agreed on with the other side, democrats have done NONE OF THAT. The reason Trump has been able to act with such expediency is because we do not have a opposition party, democrats folded faster than cheap ikea furniture. Republicans made it clear their top priority was to make Obama's life a living hell, democrats bent over and started talking about bipartisanship.

These people aren't stupid they have been part of the system for decades and know every trick they have chosen to capitulate because the same pockets that bought the republican party also bought them.

To specifically and directly handle the unusually high amount of air traffic collisions, crashes, and deaths, Trump starts firing FAA members with the predictable result that things will get worse, not better.

I saw @Somewhatconcerned posted; is he explaining why Trump’s prices are worse than Biden’s still?

Assuming we somehow have fair and open elections there will be repercussions for decades from what has happened in the last 30 days. But that's a big assumption at this point. I'm very worried about what is still to come it hasn't even been a month yet.

Not in this timeline, it is still happening. How tf u think trump lost in 2020, he brought about a collapse in only 4 years instead of 8. Then voters forgot and we are back to now where he is doing it again. Bros gonna hold the speed run record of ruining the economy twice in record times.

I do look forward to welfare queens like yourself losing free handouts though.

Hard to see that happening as the Dem brand is super toxic right now and even more unpopular than Trump. "Not Trump" will not be good enough to run on.

Inflation is running red hot again so they won't ever be as low as before Trump took office. The CDC and the NIH are being gutted so bird flu will run longer than needed because you have to manage a disease instead of pretending it doesn't exist through gag orders.

People, if Trump runned independently, there would be three political parties in the US right now, simple as that. The Republicans knew that, that's why they closed their eyes to the senile old man, they needed to cult to win elections.

Now the Republican Party is gone, there is only Trump. But people will find targets for their frustrations, and voting out the Republicans will be their reactions.

Just see the past decade of populism in Europe, where many populist parties wons and now are simply gone.

More than that, he's quoting the literal bad guy of multiple expansions, where everyone agrees it was a mistake to put him in charge.

The bolded is probably the only unequivocally true part of this statement, but with a caveat: The Dem brand isn't 'toxic' as much as it's 'uninspiring'; but we're already seeing the tangible fallout of Trump's policies making things worse, and it will only get even more-so in the coming months if his Tariffs and purported spending plan get through, which might lead to Dems retaking the House by virtue of simply not being the party in power.

Trump was voted in on an economic mandate; making the Economy worse will only hurt his party's chances at re-election.
