Well, 2008 Republicans was lead by John McCain. Someone with braincells, even if I didn't agree with with his political views.

The manufacturing is much cheaper in Mexico, there are more people and the government is friendlier to those industries. If Trump just tariffed Canada that would still be bad bc the US gets a lot of natural resources and food from Canada but that would be it IMO. Itd only accelerate already existing trends
Personally, #1 and #2 are pointless distinction. The most important part is that US/Canada/Mexico once formed one of the most successful trading blocks in the whole world. Now that's damaged. Hopefully, not beyond repair.

What do tariffs mean for homebuilding, at least in CA?

A report from the real estate research firm John Burns Real Estate Consulting (JBREC) anticipates that costs of building materials are set to increase by 5%.

To find that number, the company looked at different building elements, and just how much of the U.S. supply comes from Canada, China and Mexico. It then calculated the average tariff rate for those products, and multiplied the average tariff rate by the share of the U.S. supply to estimate how much the cost of each might rise.
Congrats on the new 5% tax on new construction!

It's 'awesome' that high egg prices have people interested in raising chickens, Trump Ag Secretary says

Hell no. It's fine to do it as a hobby that you enjoy. However, if you think that's cheaper than buying eggs at the stores, you are delusional. Feed + care + housing + maintenance >>>>> cost of eggs at the store. There are values to the hours you spent taking care of those hens.

How could people love Trump? Egg prices are nowhere near set to drop.

    Prices were cheaper under Biden.

One of these days, you guys will understand math enough to know that things like "40% of a group that makes up less than 50% of the population" leaves an awfully large chunk of the pie that explicitly isn't that group.

Skipping straight to liberty gardens? When’s the “totally awesome rationing” going to start?

It’s like America’s is at war. Which… I guess it is, but it’s at war not with a foreign country but with trump.

    On that note.

U.S. homebuilders raise alarm over tariffs as sentiment falls to 5-month low

Housing cost is way too high also. People can't afford them. Even as supply of unsold homes is growing, and some sellers are cutting cost, the prices are still too WAY too high.

Thinking about it, it makes a lot of sense that Vance attracts a lot of the attention from Trump at live events like with Zelensky, no matter how bad it sounds to the rest of the world!

Trump's mind is about as sharp as a butter knife these days and that fact need protecting from the likes of Fox news viewers.

Remember those pandemic boomtowns? They are not so hot now. Prices are still high. However, at the current rate, it is possible that we are going to start seeing upside down mortgages like back in 2008. New home construction actually went down 10% in February.

If the US leaves NATO, they can't stop Ukraine from joining NATO.

He can't do that unilaterally though, last year a bi-partisan law was passed that only congress can do that. To protect against this scenario...whether he cares or not is of course something that remains to be seen.

I am sorry but this is stupid. The reason construction is so expensive in California its bc California has made it impossible to build anything there. Its basically an eldritch horror of regulations that make building so expensive its not even worth it. Thats why California has a housing shortage. Progressive dont get to blame Trump for this. Leftists killed housing in California they should be made to bear the entire responsibility of it

Trump can do all the theater about "LEAVING NATO BIGLY".
Only Congress has the power to officially do that.
Congress only has that power IF THEY USE IT.
