It’s difficult to tell, what with house democrats unanimously rejecting it… will they hold fast in the senate and reject it, will they fold so they aren’t seen as “provoking” as they flail around trying to find some angle, or will they pass it knowing full well the absolute shellacking the economy will take, the blame of which will laid squarely at trump and the GOP’s feet?

There’s something to be said for the past option, but frankly I think the dem’s voter base ant to see opposition, with the dem Congress afraid it’ll be seen as “obstruction.” I don’t get the sense that they have much of a game plan at this point, though I suppose we’ll have to see.

I hope they hold the ground. The country is actually noticing the Repubs very narrowly retained a freaking Iowa house seat in a deep deep red district. Trump won the district by 27 points they only held onto the seat by 3. That is a very good sign.

They're not banned, yet, they were removed.

Would've been nice if they linked to the changes for each word to get a sense of what reality they are trying to create.

    2021 Head Start memo:
The last year has brought significant challenges to the Head Start workforce. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disparate impact on under-resourced communities including many of those served by Head Start programs. There has also been heightened attention to racial injustice in our country, which has led to calls for major reforms to address long-standing societal inequities. These are particularly important concerns for OHS and the Head Start workforce. All staff have been impacted by COVID-19. Further, 60% of Head Start teaching staff are Black, Indigenous and people of color, and 30% have a primary language other than English. As such, OHS is committed to a culture of wellness that includes holistic support for the entire Head Start workforce.
The last year has brought significant challenges to the Head Start workforce, everyone was impacted by Covid-19. Because of that, we are committed to a culture of wellness that includes holistic support for (checks notes) everyone.

    Tariffs work.

"“He needed to break some guy in Ontario who said he was going to tax American energy 25 percent. The President of the United States, in the White House, says, ‘Oh no, you won’t,’ and breaks him. And you think that’s chaotic?” Lutnick said."

    So far everyone has capitulated.

    Lying, again?

Ford's held off the energy tariff until Thursday, when he meets with Trump. If Trump doesn't give up a bunch of stuff, that energy tariff's still going on. Ford is in no way "broken", Trump is losing this fight. And you're lying about what's happening, to try and present it as if it's a win.

Trump can't stop Ontario from applying an energy tariff if we want to. The best he can do is offer Ford reasons not to, meaning Trump has to capitulate to Ford.

If Trump backs off on the added aluminum and steel tariffs over this, as described in the article, it means Ford won. He threatened retaliatory tariffs, and Trump chickened the absolute fuck out.

The only person who keeps capitulating in these tariff battles is Trump. He's the loser, every time. He chickens out and delays, he threatens additional tariffs and backs off when further retaliatory tariffs are proposed. He accepts absolutely fucking nothing in terms of concessions for any of this. He's getting his ass absolutely handed to him, and you think it's a win. Somehow. Because the cult won't accept anything less.

"No, it's okay, I MEANT to shit my pants. That's how you know I'm winning!"

I completely agree with you on this. One thing I am wondering will happen though given just how unhinged these tards are and how desperate they are getting for a win while feeling untouchable. Part of me wonders if we will end up having a situation here where they come to the US or White House to see him only to end up having the arrested on trumped up charges in hopes of negotiating for an exchange or threaten them if they don't do what they are told.

No sane leader would do something that stupid, instead we have wingus and dingus here who feel like they are kings on power trips while we have at least for Supreme Court Justices who tried to rule they were.

Ford is playing the exact same game as dump and holding tariffs in response. I can't believe you are actually still posting when the DOW is down 3200 rofl

Instead of meeting with the prime minister trump has gone down the rungs to deal with the leader of just one province who he should outclass and never have to deal with him self.

Trump’s the only one capitulating and he’s likely to do so a lot more on Thursday given he has such a weak position that just one province can bring him to his kneels.
Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.

While that is absolute shit in and of itself, this is a far worse bill that was put forth. Right now, it is just introduced but it basically repeals the literal thing that is supposed to prevent the President from impounding funds in the first place.

This would allow the sitting President to outright, and with the blessing of Congress, deny funding appropriated by Congress.

Let that sink in. Congressional Republicans literally want to basically get rid of one of the reasons for Congress to exist and therefor just want a paycheck.

Also, and no disrespect intended, but how humiliating is it that Trump could not even stand up to Ontario? That's like China backing down to Rhode Island.

Might as well order a missile strike on Canada then, because both of those are equally an act of war. Think again on the actual likelihood of that.

Oh, I know it would be an act of war. My thinking on this isn’t that it’s entirely likely, just that Trump is senile and ego driven enough to think he could get away with it, Musk I wouldn’t put it past him either, especially if they take orders from Putin or they see themselves being removed in any way which could potentially happen if this crash gets too bad too fast.

Can think of Trump refusing to admit he is wrong, thinking he is a king and can do whatever he wants knowing the Supreme Court even ruled in his favor when talking about killing his political rivals and idolizing authoritarian strongmen. Especially if he thinks he might be removed and it’s harder to remove a president in a war. I can definitely see him making that attempt.

It's actually kind of worse than that. That bit isn't part of the continuing resolution. It's just the House of Representatives adopting rules for itself, which means they don't "want to" just give up their check on the president's power to apply tariffs, they already did.

On the other hand, it also means undoing that is as easy as a simple majority of the House voting to change the rules back, and even if they don't, that rule expires at the end of the congressional session in January 2027.

"Tariffs work," as we're on, what, the fourth round of Donnie Dealmaker getting the same thing that was already in place, but the rest of the world dislikes the US a bit more and the stock market is falling down a well.

Maybe it's because I'm not a master negotiator or whatever, but it's really sounding like "doing nothing" would've been a way smarter move since the whole "rest of the world dislikes the US more + stock market falling down a well" thing wouldn't be happening anywhere near as hard.
