Senior officials, including White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, have received panicked calls from chief executives and lobbyists, who have urged the administration to calm jittery markets by outlining a more predictable tariff agenda, according to people familiar with the discussions.

It has been a horrific start for the economic policy team. Trump’s aggressive approach to tariffs has unnerved some Trump administration economic officials, including staff on the National Economic Council, who are concerned that tariffs and uncertainty over trade policy are tanking the stock market and fueling price increases on everything from energy to construction materials.

Trumpsters made a silly mistake, when they said egg prices were going down and the stock market was going up they accidentally swapped the nouns in question. Easy mistake to make really.

Truth is stranger than fiction. We actually had someone coming in bragging about how egg prices were dropping...after someone else had posted the reason was lack of demand. In other words, prices dropped because they were so high nobody bought any.

And I also quoted the Trump USDA person who said "the USDA's numbers say prices are down, no I'm not showing you any". At the time, I flat-out accused her of making shit up, considering the inklings of a plan were announced a week prior. It should have occurred to me that the core of Trump's policy is "let America suffer, then claim victory while doing nothing".
