The thing is, Trump clearly only has preference to those who have more money/power than him. If Musk loses everything do you think Trump will keep him around and associate with the world's richest man turned worlds biggest business failure?

Tesla is only part of his fortune, he still has SpaceX, his brother and his dad are billionaires even if Tesla goes bankrupt he will still be richer and have more money than Trump. Besides his net worth is what we know, he would be a fool if he wasn't using dark pools to trade on Trump's market announcements (stock market, crypto etc) netting him billions. It's free reign on corruption Musk and his family are probably making money hand over fist on this, he would be an idiot to not make the money off so much insider information.

Well, at least he'll be able to point at someone who is more of a business failure than he is

This could be correct. Granted, if Tesla goes bankrupt, the stock he used to leverage loans for Twitter will collapse and he'll lose that too. SpaceX also explodes a lot. But Trump's businesses are basically crypto, memes of himself, and a social media platform barely anyone uses. If Trump was publicly traded, Musk could buy him with spare change.

Dunno if Tesla is finished but its not a good look for the company. It makes sense too. Tesla is not as valuable as Toyota. That was all hype and people were willing to let it slide cuz they liked Musk and what he did with the company. Now Tesla hasnt done anything interesting since 2019 when they released the model 3, and Musk is destroying the government in a ketamine fueled rampage
Thing about Tesla is that it was always hyped as a technology company that sold cars. Not a car company that had advanced technology in it. The problem is that, while that was a good thing early on as they were one of the first to actually try to have full auto driving in actual road usage vehicles, people have caught up with it AND they decided to go a cheaper route with the sensor tech(instead of LIDAR, they went with a traditional camera type sensor system that uses AI).

So, as of now, there is nothing to really push people to actually buy a Tesla over any other semi-autonomous driving EV. Even the cost is still prohibitive for most people for anything remotely what is being pushed out there to separate it from the rest.

This along with what is going on with the CyberTruck and its problems(doors that won't open in an emergency, panels falling off due to poor material usage, etc), it is pretty much going to be a very rough ride for Musk and Tesla.

Much like Trump, he put himself out there and found out that people do not like him. And he only has himself to blame for that seeing as he has been fucking around and screwing people over constantly.

So Musk can go right the fuck off.

And then he'd make a ton of money when the stock recovers, and be able to slowly sell them back out at peak prices again. Even if it was only going to recover to 80% of its value before the crash, that's still a huge return.

    And he's not doing that.

Because he assumes it won't recover.

The CEO doesn't believe in his own company. That's the headline here.
The problem is Musk, like a LOT of the extremely wealthy people that aren't Royalty type people like the Saudi family or the British Royal family, don't actually have that much money on hand. He wouldn't be able to prop up the stock with his own funds as nearly all of his wealth is tied into Tesla and other ventures. He would literally have to tank one of his other ventures in order to prop up Tesla and he won't do that.

    I don’t think trump cares.

Trump doesn’t want to lead, he just wants to be beyond reproach. He wants to golf and do nothing.

And also have everyone constantly talking about how great he is. That's extremely important.

So JD Vance' wife and national security advisor Mike Waltz will be attending a dog sled competition in Greenland, the authorities have already declined to meet with them during the visit.

So disrespectful. (edit: this is happening while Greenland is negotiating a new government)

There doesn't seem to be much coverage of this yet, the race starts on the 29th.

Tell them good luck with that btw. Canadians are getting kidnapped by ICE too.

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped

I feel like anyone who supports the deportation BS to live a month like the people in the article were.
Eternal artificial day, barely any contact with the outside world, being shipped across the country.
Let them *really* appreciate what they're supporting

I don't think they don't know. For the supporters the cruelty is the point. For the companies involved it is more a result of reaping in as much money while having as little possible costs, humanity be damned.

I like the idea, but if you put a time limit of a month on it, they'll just suck it up for the month and then say it wasn't that bad. It'd be better if you tell them they could be out in an hour, or maybe it'll be the rest of their life. They could see their family again tomorrow, or tomorrow they may be shipped off to the El Salvador prison. The uncertainty is a huge part of the chaos. Maybe then they'd finally understand.

Carney ought to push for a travel advisory warning.

We're about to call an election. Like, it's presumed Carney will announce it tomorrow, with a likely election day of April 28.

It'd be a bad look for Carney to put forth such an advisory warning and then have Polievre, in the dark potential future of a Conservative win, to rescind it. Better to just not give Polievre the ammo until the election's over and Polievre's lost.

I dont like linking twitter but this one feels appropriate.

KARL: Do they have any due process at all?

HOMAN: Due process -- what was Laken Riley's due process?

I would add that he has also completely broken the media and now academia. Or at least quite easily forced them to bend to his will.

AOC and Bernie may be "drawing the crowds," but they are not electable on a national level. And this is how you become an irrelevant political party for the next 20 years.

The media isn't covering your god's stupidity in a rational fashion because 90% of the media in this country is owned by six oligarchs. It has nothing to do with what the orange pile of feces is doing and everything to do with what those oligarchs want. You never said did your turnip rations get upgraded or were you just tossed in the hole for a few days for asking?
