You must have a lot of faith in this guy. I leave open the possibility that the case goes badly for him before the Immigration Judge (there's that due process thing for you!), and he broke the Immigration and Nationality Act. If you know a lot more than you're letting on about the government's evidence prior to the hearing, then repeating due process a dozen times doesn't persuade me that you've got it.

There's news in the world other than what you wish everybody else was talking about with you. Frankly, if you'd linked to the story yourself with a small description and "it comes during a week with a major Hegseth/Walz fuck-up news story," I wouldn't have even posted it.

This thread is not some platform where you get to decide what stories should receive attention, and declare things that don't conform to that as "redirection of the thread away." The default position of the US Government is that it will spend a lot of money on drug research.

I didn’t expect that to change even with a broken toaster in charge of it. So even his greatest accomplishment would’ve happened regardless.

You would think theyd do that to protect the methods of how they are gathering info or whatever, but nope they are doing bc they dont want to release the details from the flights that sent the Venezuelan immigrants to El Salvador. This is despite the judge repeatedly asking for an explanation why the government is not able to release those details or even why the flights were rushed.

They didnt follow court orders and are now scrambling to cover it up. Worst part is that they will prob get away with it.

President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, acknowledged Tuesday that some of the immigrants wrapped up in a recent enforcement operation in Boston were not the intended targets of federal agents.

Homan was in Boston last week to witness Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents making 370 arrests during the six-day operation. The agency said the operation was part of an effort in partnership with the FBI, the ATF, the DEA and other agencies.

In the wake of the operation, local activists said non-criminals were also being detained, causing fear to spread through the immigrant community. Homan was asked about this outside the White House on Tuesday.

"Most were criminals, but many were collaterals. A majority of criminals," Homan said. "How come the collaterals? I've said this a thousand times: Sanctuary cities are going to get exactly what they don't want: more agents in the community and more collateral arrests. Why? If we can't get access to the bad guy in the county jail, if they're going to choose to release him in the public, which is just-- releasing a public safety threat into the public, it's just dumb to begin with because it puts your public safety at risk. Right? But when you release that public safety threat back into the public, that means we've got to go find him. When we find him, most likely, he's with others. And if they're in the country illegally, they're coming too, because we're not going to tell ICE to ignore the oath that they took to enforce immigration law and walk away from the illegal alien like the last administration."

A Pentagon-wide advisory went out one week ago warning against using the messaging app Signal, even for unclassified information.

"A vulnerability has been identified in the Signal messenger application," begins the department-wide email, dated March 18, obtained by NPR.

The memo continues, "Russian professional hacking groups are employing the 'linked devices' features to spy on encrypted conversations." It notes that Google has identified Russian hacking groups who are "targeting Signal Messenger to spy on persons of interest."

President Donald Trump on Tuesday appeared to remain confident in Waltz, saying "Michael Waltz has learned a lesson and is a good man," according to NBC News.

There will be no consequences for one of the most serious security lapses in US history.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the review on Tuesday, but said that that "no 'war plans' were discussed." She added that no classified material was sent to Signal group chat.

"The White House Counsel's Office has provided guidance on a number of different platforms for President Trump's top officials to communicate as safely and efficiently as possible," she said.

That guidance doesn't appear to be, "Don't use an encrypted chat program compromised by the Russians."

Like the White House, Gabbard and Ratcliffe asserted there was no classified information included in the message chain. Facing questions from Democrats on why information on attack sequencing or timing, as reported by The Atlantic, would not be considered classified, Ratcliffe said Defense Secretary Hegseth had authority to determine what was classified or not.

Of course if this was all unclassified materials the White House could just release it all and prove it.

Ratcliffe also said he believed national security adviser Waltz intended the chat to be "a mechanism for coordinating between senior level officials, but not a substitute for using high side or classified communications for anything that would be classified."

This is why there are a lot of rules and policy/procedures around this shit. To avoid "oops we're sharing classified materials on personal devices and accidentally adding the wrong recipients."

Again, our resident conservatives appear wholly unconcerned both about this major lapse in security and the administration pulling a George Orwell and demanding people ignore reality and what they can see and hear and instead only believe what the administration tells them.
