Let's be frank Kamala Harris was our hail Mary because Biden fucked up, I have many criticism of her campaign but push comes to shove the odds were against her from the start.

Biden's only really significant fuck up was his decision to run again, made early on in the immediate aftermath of the 2020 election.

I would argue that a close second was assigning Merrick Garland who stalled the Trump investigations for over a year but I agree running again was a major fuck up too.

Trumps tariffs would be equally as arbitrary with or without AI.

Also why would anyone want to kneecap the US advantage in AI by imposing such destructive regulations.

Biden’s fuck up was that he was an old man with a stutter and the media chose to make hay about the old man with a stutter instead of the old man that couldn’t string a coherent sentence together that is Trump.

I really can't blame Democrats here. The simple reality is that the average American voter is a fucking idiot. A pickle covered in manure would have been a better choice president than a felon who staged an attempted coup and was bragging about mass deportations and tariffs. However, the majority of American voters chose him over a qualified woman of color who was looking to improve an already solid economy.

It's time to stop passing off blame and put the blame squarely where it belongs.

As I understood it, Biden only decided to run again when Trump announced his candidacy for 2024. Before that, the plan was to only serve one term. He changed his mind because he rightfully thought that another Trump presidency would be an absolute disaster for the US. Since he had beaten Trump before he thought to be the best choice to beat Trump again.

True, but then far too many people stayed home as well, because Trump literally saying he was going burn down the constitution and the economy wasn't enough to convince them that both sides weren't the same.

    No.

There are some idiots who didn't see this coming, but anyone smart in the business already bailed. That's why Trump has lost thousands of DOW points since his inauguration. The markets will drop, but not crater. I think we'll even see some bounceback later in the afternoon, just nowhere near enough to make this neutral.

    Nah.

NYTimes, March 25, 2021: Biden expects to run for re-election in 2024

CNN, November 22, 2021: White House says Biden intends to run for reelection in 2024

He definitely stated his plans to run early. He didn't formally announce it until the race officially began, of course, but the course was laid in the immediate aftermath of the previous election.

In the half hour since, the DOW has dropped even further. 1500 so far. That's bad, currently #5 worst DOW drop by pure number of points, and competing with the COVID crash Trump also oversaw. Trump has erased all DOW gains since summer.

I'm still predicting further losses until noon, then some of those clawed back. Trump unilaterally causing a semi-crash won't be easy to handwave.

Trump has decided to bunker down and surround himself with increasingly deranged people that are now calling for ideological purges

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/03/u...?smid=re-share

Laura Loomer, the far-right activist and promoter of conspiracy theories, met on Wednesday with President Trump in the Oval Office, where she pressed for him to fire National Security Council staff members whom she deemed disloyal to him, according to seven people with knowledge of the events.

Mr. Trump may act on some of Ms. Loomer’s recommendations, two of the people said. Ms. Loomer walked into the White House with a sheaf of papers, which amounted to a mass of opposition research attacking the character and loyalty of numerous N.S.C. officials, two of the people said. She proceeded to excoriate them in front of their boss, the national security adviser Michael Waltz, who was also in the meeting.

Biden's initial instinct to be a one term president was correct, they are both very old but Trump always sounds like an incoherent idiot so no one was going to give Biden a pass.

    This is false.

Trump campaigned and ran on this. Nothing has changed.

Not really. VEP turnout was the second highest it's been in the last 100 years, following only 2020's election which was marked by high turnout due to COVID.

Huh? he's been doing this since day one, there isn't a single person around him that isn't a yes man.

The novelty here is that if the rumours turn out to be true he is going to replace the yes men with even more sycophantic yes men. An ideological purge of his own yes men.
