Like it’s so starkly baffling when people were going on about Harris not being the perfect candidate and “really no better than Trump.”

Like, would Harris have made just some of the Doge cuts?

Would she have imposed just some of the tariffs?

Would she have mass laid off just some of the government?

Would she have listened to just some of Musk’s advice or put him in a lesser position of power?

To which the answer is a resounding No. Absolutely none of this would be happening.

I would argue that a close second was assigning Merrick Garland who stalled the Trump investigations for over a year but I agree running again was a major fuck up too.

Another thing I hope is on the top of the list if we manage to make it through this clusterfuck: Sweeping legislation that explicitly prohibits the use of AI in many-if-not-all governmental positions, because it's abundantly clear that the people who look to use it can't be trusted to govern, nor can the AI themselves be trusted to run things in lieu of an elected person.

And that should be on top of the common-sense regulations that need to be slapped on AI at large to stop it from being a massive copyright theft engine.

Trumps tariffs would be equally as arbitrary with or without AI.

Being mad at AI here is like being mad that a hammer was used in a murder.

Also why would anyone want to kneecap the US advantage in AI by imposing such destructive regulations.

I really can't blame Democrats here. The simple reality is that the average American voter is a fucking idiot. A pickle covered in manure would have been a better choice president than a felon who staged an attempted coup and was bragging about mass deportations and tariffs. However, the majority of American voters chose him over a qualified woman of color who was looking to improve an already solid economy.

It's time to stop passing off blame and put the blame squarely where it belongs.

As I understood it, Biden only decided to run again when Trump announced his candidacy for 2024. Before that, the plan was to only serve one term. He changed his mind because he rightfully thought that another Trump presidency would be an absolute disaster for the US. Since he had beaten Trump before he thought to be the best choice to beat Trump again.

No.

There are some idiots who didn't see this coming, but anyone smart in the business already bailed. That's why Trump has lost thousands of DOW points since his inauguration. The markets will drop, but not crater. I think we'll even see some bounceback later in the afternoon, just nowhere near enough to make this neutral.

In the half hour since, the DOW has dropped even further. 1500 so far. That's bad, currently #5 worst DOW drop by pure number of points, and competing with the COVID crash Trump also oversaw. Trump has erased all DOW gains since summer.

I'm still predicting further losses until noon, then some of those clawed back. Trump unilaterally causing a semi-crash won't be easy to handwave.
