Planes collide at Reagan airport: One had several members of Congress aboard

Yes, I'm still doing this. Don't like it, blame Trump, he's the one that made it about him. But also:

Trump targets law firm that represented Dominion Voting Systems in case against Fox News

Trump’s order will ban the firm from accessing government buildings, viewing documents or representing any party that has any litigation with the federal government.

“Lawyers and law firms that engage in activities detrimental to critical American interests should not have access to our Nation’s secrets, nor should their conduct be subsidized by Federal taxpayer funds or contracts,” the order reads.

Trump said the move was necessary “to address the significant risks, egregious conduct, and conflicts of interest” at Susman Godfrey.

The firm, in a statement, responded that “anyone who knows Susman Godfrey knows we believe in the rule of law, and we take seriously our duty to uphold it.”
As a reminder, Susman Godfrey's "conflicts of interest" as directly listed in Trump's words are

Susman administers a program where it offers financial awards and employment opportunities only to “students of color.”
    and

Susman spearheads efforts to weaponize the American legal system and degrade the quality of American elections.
Incidentally, Trump personally promised to have Clinton investigated during the debates and his fans cheered. "Weaponize the American legal system" is 100% what Trump supporters demanded and voted for.

President Donald Trump once again bringing people together

China and EU discuss trade in response to U.S.' punitive tariffs

China and the European Union have exchanged views on strengthening their economic and trade cooperation in response to U.S. tariffs, the Chinese Commerce Ministry said on Thursday.
In a video call on Tuesday, China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao discussed with European trade and economic security commissioner Maros Sefcovic the restart of talks on trade relief and to immediately carry out negotiations on electric vehicle price commitments, the Chinese ministry statement said.

The conversation came shortly before before U.S. President Donald Trump's additional tariffs on China started taking effect.
Trump has on Wednesday said he would temporarily lower the hefty duties he had just imposed on dozens of countries in a stunning reversal. He, however, ramped up pressure on China, threatening to raise tariffs on the world's second largest economy to 125%.
China is ready to deepen trade, investment and industrial cooperation with the European Union, Wang told Sefcovic.
Wang urged China and the EU to jointly safeguard the rules-based multilateral trading system and adhere to trade liberalisation and facilitation, "which will inject more stability and certainty into the world economy and global trade", the ministry statement said.
China and EU also discussed creating a more favourable business environment for enterprises and trade transfer issues.
They will continue to strengthen communication under the World Trade Organization framework and jointly promote WTO reform, the ministry statement said.

The EU had imposed additional tariffs of up to 35.3% on China-made electric vehicles at the end of October after an anti-subsidy investigation, on top of the bloc's standard 10% car import tariffs.

The commerce ministry said last week that the two sides have agreed to restart negotiations on minimum price commitments on Chinese EVs but did not specify when that would resume.

I think this is overall a good thing in general. US car manufacturers have gotten somewhat complacent and have no had to really fight a rival who is supported equally by the state as the Chinese EV's are. If the product is cheaper and better is that not the idea of capitalism about? Let us hope this brings the Americans to think about how they operate and change the way they are thinking.

As the world started to move away from American steel to Chinese and India next would be to get away from US energy exports and force them to come to the table in good faith. Let them start competing in a fair way and see how rough it can get for them,

The beautiful idea here is a return to ordinary people buying showerheads they wish to purchase. The government's intrusion to make illegal certain showerheads does strike people wrong, and for good reason.

But now that government agencies went in and did it, then I see no problem striking that out and going back to status quo ante bellum. Let people choose. The answer to "Who the fuck cares?" should literally be "The government chose to care; let's go back to having the government not care."

What good reason? I'd say ongoing regulatory pushes towards conservation for both consumers/citizens and agencies/companies, especially given the impending fresh water crisis facing many parts of the US, is pretty good, personally. It may not always be popular, but nor were seatbelts when they were first introduced, for example.

You seem to have a good reason in mind, care to share?

But for what reason beyond, "Let people choose."? That reasoning stands to lift expansive regulations that are in personal and societal self-interest, yet I doubt we'll see it considered beyond this very weirdly narrow application of it. That's not much of a compelling reason to me, personally.

Thank god the greatest president ever addressed one of the nation's most pressing issues: weak -and dare I say woke- showerheads.

All it cost was eggs being ridiculously expensive, and alienating every other nations. A small price to pay for the freedom to choose to waste gallons more of water with no noticeable difference.

And you could say that about a person’s right to identify by the pronouns they wish, or whom they choose to marry, or a woman’s reproductive choices. Which Trump’s administration and/or conservative groups have fought tooth and nail against and are in favor of the government mandating.

However, whereas people’s decisions about whom to marry or how to identify themselves only affect that person and literally no one else, mandating that consumer goods that access or impact resources required by an entire community to function impact… you guessed it, the entire community of people and their resources. Like with high-flow shower heads wasting water in areas where water is a precious resource and where the wanton depletion of it actively harms the community.

People and corporations wouldn’t have “chosen” to self-ban DDT, the government had to do it. People and corporations wouldn’t have chosen to discontinue asbestos, or ozone-degrading aerosols, or dumping toxic chemicals or any number of things that corporations have a vested interest in maintaining (up to and including intentional misinformation and lobbying,) the government steps in for the common good and outlaws those things.

“Well, at least people chose to do it” is not itself always “right” because those decisions can negatively impact others, nor are republicans strangers to wanting the government to restrict people’s choices.

Once again, conservatives neither have the moral “bedrock” in a situation, as they can’t possibly claim they advocate utter freedom in people’s choices, nor can you claim that people “choosing” to act however they wish is unquestionably always correct.

So what exactly moral ground are you trying to advocate from?

I normally don't have any concerns about flying and actually enjoy the "flying" experience even when things get bumpy - it's like a roller coaster in a sense and still incredibly safe. Don't fly often at all, though.

Can't say I'm looking forward to some upcoming work flights I have to take across the country with Donald's FAA. Can we bring back the woke people with pronouns in their signatures? Things seemed to run better.
