If nothing else, it's promising that NC has a dem gov and has stayed steady with it's voting. You have states Obama won like Florida, Ohio and Indiana that have just got redder and dumber. At least NC isn't getting dumber, even though it's still dumb.

I dunno. I feel in some ways that makes it worse. To always come so close and just barely lose.

There isn't one. He's said routinely it's illegal immigrants, but (a) that's not an invasion and (b) he's also bragged about how crossings have dropped, so, even if there was an invasion before, he's already claiming there isn't one now.

This is just putting on a show. Mobilizing the US miltary to sit around and do nothing will not save US taxpayers anything.
No it's not this is the prelude to the insurrection act people need to get loud right fucking now

But the point is that Democrats have won 3 of the last 5 elections even though they've only won NC (barely) one of those times. So it's not really a "necessary swing state". In fact, it's never really been much of a swing state, historically.

Accounting for the Southern Strategy, it's been fairly consistently conservative throughout.

That's not what I mean though. They try hard for it everytime...and they just keep on coming up short.

I am always impressed by how much trouble native speakers have with their own language. "Due process was deportation." That makes no fucking sense as a sentence.

Well, this is a fun thing to wake up to.

I really hope the rumors are wrong on this one. I keep thinking "well this is just too crazy to ever really happen" only for it to happen anyways with Trump. And it doesn't help we all know full well Trump has wanted to declare martial law several times during his last term, but there were safeguards in place that prevented it. Now there's nothing standing in the way but some pesky courts he already doesn't respect and they have no power to stop him anyways.

There would not be a similar bipartisan reaction against him if it were to happen here. Republicans would cheer. Democrats would wag their fingers. And Trump would get his way. Especially since his regime is currently in the process of "lol no"-ing a 9-0 SCOTUS ruling against an action they've taken.

I'm not going to take the word of "one person blogging about politics" (which is all that Snopes articles seems to amount to) on something as serious as this, though...

Sure, but none of them actually said it. They aren't openly proud about it, yet.

Trump floats idea of $10,000 checks to every citizen.

    "Yeah! MAGA!"

    Of Greenland.

"...what? What about the $5,000 check that Musk promised me?"

    You believed him?

The Trump administration is also studying financial incentives for Greenlanders, including the possibility of replacing the $600 million in subsidies that Denmark gives the island with an annual payment of about $10,000 per Greenlander.

Some Trump officials believe those costs could be offset by new revenue from the extraction of Greenland’s natural resources, which include rare earth minerals, copper, gold, uranium and oil.

Trump officials argue that American capital and industrial might can gain access to the island’s largely untapped mineral wealth in a way that Denmark cannot. “This is about critical minerals,” Mr. Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Waltz, told Fox News in January. “This is about natural resources.”

But analysts do not universally agree that it will be simple to profit from mining in the island’s still-frigid regions. And explaining a significant expenditure to American voters as Mr. Trump has tasked the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, with slashing the federal government by $1 trillion might be tough.
The population of Greenland is about 60,000 humans. $10,000 per would therefore be $600 million, not that much in the federal budget scale. It, of course, matches the amount Denmark is currently giving in subsidies. The differences include, of course, that Greenland would be required to praise and admire Trump (they don't want to) and that Trump would seize all their natural assets (they don't want that either).

Incidentally, $10,000 per American would be $3 trillion. The EU could save up their entire budget for 3 years and just buy the USA.

People saying Trump isn't serious are just lying, by the way.

Mr. Trump’s interest in Greenland is not new: He was serious enough in his first term to charge national security officials with exploring the idea. But after he started discussing it publicly, Greenland officials balked and Mr. Trump did not pursue the idea, which was treated as a wild fantasy.

Since his second election last fall, Mr. Trump has renewed his desire with greater fervor. “Let’s get it done,” he has demanded of aides.
Trump is serious. He wants to expand American borders by taking over countries that don't want us.

    And you know the deal:

As much as I love your posts, you got a bit lost in the sauce with that one. Not sure if you pulled a Trump/Elon or how you got the 3 trillion coca cola profit number.
