I was worried about Biden's mental faculties because it made the Democratic Party look ridiculous and almost certainly cost them the election.

But keep gaslighting Americans. That's definitely the path to victory. Tell Americans the slack jawed guy that can barely put a sentence together and looks like he might keel over at any second was actually perfectly fine. Tell everyone that they are crazy for daring to question the dear leader Biden. That definitely won't turn anyone off.

This is some emperor has no clothes shit, and is no better than the endless cope and reality denial MAGA engages in.

That's part of the strategy. They throw everything at the wall, including multiple totally ridiculous and contradictory things. People then hear what they agree with and ignore what they disagree with. It's a clever way to manipulate confirmation bias.

It's the same reason we have people in this thread insisting Joe Biden was not suffering from any cognitive decline whatsoever. They spent months believing the Democratic Party propaganda about how great Biden was doing mentally, and then when confronted with it right in front of their faces they switch their brain off.

But they are the smart ones, unlike the right wing that always falls for the ridiculous propaganda.

You think "Maybe he just means he wants to get rid of Due Process?" is a better interpretation of that tweet?

Or "The guy is the biggest liar of all time, I think I'll vote for him again"

And yes, you are able to interpret them now after what happened. And there's 4 years worth of that.

Big deflection. Trump crashed the market hard and admitted he didn't know it would happen and didn't care. Then both Putin and Ukraine rejected his plans. Seems like the only future he predicts is "I win the golf tournament I myself hold".

Guess we get to hear of America sending people to El Salvador like Russia sends people to the gulags for the rest of my life.

I miss when conservatives cared about due process.

You keep bringing up the debate, which very few would argue against it being a good look for Biden, it was absolutely disastrous, but did you pay the same attention to the speech he gave the following week? He spoke with conviction and honesty, didn't ramble off onto strange tangents and kept focus. None of which I have trump do a single time.
I ain't gonna argue that Biden overstayed his welcome, he did, and I wrote about it here at that time, but bringing up the same argument against him over and over while trump does worse nearly every time he's in front of a camera is dishonest.
Also I use CC cleaner after using the computer, never had any bonkers political videos shown to me. I was raised to stay aware of internet privacy I guess. Anyways, takes two seconds.
My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.

People in cognitive decline do not uniformly deteriorate. It ebbs and flows. Sundowning is the most common issue, where people are fine during the day but start to deteriorate as the it gets later. This is not a comparative analysis. Trump is mentally deranged, and he was from day one of his first presidential campaign. But his brand is not "I'm the adult in the room". That was Biden's brand, and when that brand comes with "uh uh uh I defeated Medicare" followed by confused looking slack jawed staring at the camera, people get uncomfortable, especially when we had months of Democratic mouthpieces saying "Biden is amazing mentally!" over and over and over again.

Clearing your own local data is nice, but it's not going to address the vast majority of what these algorithms use to determine what to send you. As I noted, I am inundated with romance novel shit even though I have never clicked on it or searched it on my personal laptop. But my wife writes romance novels, so my IP is associated with that topic area.

On the computer I do use to watch political content, not a day goes by that I do not get suggested something involving Joe Rogan or Jordan Peterson. I never click them, but the algorithm knows that people who watch political content are likely to click that shit, so it keeps serving it up to me. You may not notice these things if you keep scrolling past them and just ignore them, but that's because you already know to ignore them. Once you click one, be prepared for weeks of right wing recommendations.

It's not just skin colors anymore. They are thought policing now and deporting people for "hating america".

So many people would shit on China for it's authoritarian nature and censorship but now we're doing the same shit except without improving the lives of the common citizen like China has done for it's people.

We have literally reached a point where living under the CCP sounds like a much better deal than current america.

The 2024 election thread is this way, my dude. You wanna bang on about how much Biden fucked up and people are slaves to the digital algorithms that force them to vote a certain way, do it there. It's several months' off-topic for this thread.

Deporting legal residents for thinking the wrong way or being the wrong skin color or having tattoos? Nah that's not 1984.

Not allowing me to walk inside a McDonalds without a mask on in the middle of a pandemic? Now THAT is 1984.

Nobody has ever so perfectly summed up why we keep losing: "Nothing Democrats did wrong in the past is worth discussing when talking about how we oppose Trump today. There are no lessons to learn. It is all irrelevant. The world began yesterday. Ignore the media ecosystem. Ignore where Trump's support comes from. None of it matters. Let's piss and moan about Trump instead, and pretend nothing has context."

Whining about what Trump-related topics people are discussing in the Trump thread is actually off-topic.

"How we fix the democratic Party" is not a "Trump focused discussion".

No, whining and bitching and moaning about Joe Biden, even though he dropped out of the race in July, even though the discussion is about Trump, and even though that already-off-topic discussion moved on several hours ago, apparently just because you have to have the last fucking word, is not worth discussing. I get that you have a real hate-boner for the Democrats, but buddy, this thread ain't the place for it. Either take it to the thread about the last election, or take it to the thread about the current Congress if it's about what those Democrats are or aren't doing, but read the fucking room and see that literally everyone else in this thread but you has moved on and do likewise.

    https://www.npr.org/2025/04/14/nx-s1...s-disabilities

If you visit the website for Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), you'll find a "Wall of Receipts" listing more than 7,000 federal contracts it has terminated.

Little detail is provided, besides the "savings" from each cancellation, and it's hard to determine the cost or collateral damage of all these cuts. But for some families, there has been a cost.

One of these programs, cancelled on Feb. 10, was called Charting My Path for Future Success. It was a research-based effort to help students with disabilities make the sometimes difficult transition from high school into college or the world of work and self-sufficiency.

For just three weeks, beginning in January, some 1,600 high school juniors were enrolled in the program in 13 school districts across the country, including in Virginia, Arizona and Georgia.

A U.S. Education Department spokesperson, Madi Biedermann, told NPR in a statement that Charting My Path was a research project "with questionable implementation" and that too much of the program's $43 million cost, by DOGE's accounting, was going to contractors, not kids.

But some of the people closest to the program – families, educators and researchers – say Charting My Path could have helped millions of vulnerable teens.

Jessie Damroth was grateful her 17-year-old son's school district, in Newton, Mass., was helping to pilot the program, until she learned it had been abruptly stopped.

"I cried all day," she says.
A good, longer read about the damage that Donald and DOGE are doing to millions of Americans and the harm to their futures, all in the name of "saving money" while actually wasting enormous amounts in the short-and-long term.

And the rotten cherry on the cake is they managed to SPEND 130 billion dollars more than Bidens administration the same time last year.
Absolute failure of a presidency in every way that will take decades to recover from.

Despite a court order, a reporter and photographer from The Associated Press were barred from an Oval Office news conference on Monday with President Donald Trump and his counterpart from El Salvador, Nayib Bukele.

Last week’s federal court decision forbidding the Trump administration from punishing the AP for refusing to rename the Gulf of Mexico was to take effect Monday. The administration is appealing the decision and arguing with the news outlet over whether it needs to change anything until those appeals are exhausted.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. circuit set a Thursday hearing on Trump’s request that any changes be delayed while case is reviewed. The AP is fighting for more access as soon as possible.

Since mid-February, AP reporters and photographers have been blocked from attending events in the Oval Office, where President Donald Trump frequently addresses journalists, and on Air Force One. The AP has seen sporadic access elsewhere, and regularly covers White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s briefings. Leavitt is one of three administration officials named in the AP’s lawsuit.

this lawless administration continues to brazenly ignore SCOTUS orders.

i mean, if they can't be bothered to follow court orders and the law why should anyone else? bring on the anarchy, I say. it's apparently now a part of the republican party platform.

And you are absolutely right, but unfortunately, people simply don't understand that Trump is merely a symptom, a reaction to the anemic status quo offered by a group of people who just want to hold on to wealth and power while only doing the bare minimum to placate and suppress unrest from the middle and lower classes.

Even if americans successfully came together to depose Trump, another Trump will just take his place at some point, because the only alternatives to Trump are either 1) another flavor of Trump by another name 2) an establishment democrat that does nothing to offer workable and effective solutions to solve actual problems, only to do the bare minimum to preserve "stability", or rather, a slow suffocation and wringing of the middle-lower classes.

Lukewarm stability candidates(such as Biden) and their rabid ivory tower supporters love to crow on and on about how the economy is booming under their leadership, but look at the actual state of middle and lower classes, their quality-of-life only steadily declined even as the economy "was the best it has ever been".

It's no wonder that many accelerationists believe the system is so broken it has to be torn apart completely, and then rebuilt from its ashes for a chance to have a functional system. And they are absolutely right, too.
