I'd say "I take it you're not a fan of leading by example, then" but we already know, man.

What's his job, again? What department does he run?

Unsurprisingly, "Lead by example" appears to be a foreign concept.

Also ignoring the risk he put his grandchildren in for literally no reason because having the head of a health department ignore health warnings from professionals is a great look.

Oh jesus this reminds me of that other time you had quite possibly the worst take on the internet on a topic and now I'm trying to remember what it was.

Like do you even think before posting this? This doesn't seem like you thought about this before posting it.

The plane being a White Elephant gift is the funniest turn this saga could have taken.

Forbes: The Qataris have been trying to get rid of that ostentatious luxury jet for five years, but no one would buy it. It costs too much to fly, costs more to maintain, and needs too big a landing strip. They had another one they unloaded on Turkey.
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeremyb...tar-747-trump/

While many have speculated that the Qataris have offered Trump the luxurious plane to curry favor with the famously transactional president, there may be a simpler rationale: they just don’t want it anymore.

The royals have failed to sell the plane, which was put on the market in 2020, according to an archived listing. Giving it away could save Qatar’s rulers a big chunk of change on maintenance and storage costs, aviation experts told Forbes. Making Trump happy would be an added bonus.

Qatar, which has given away another blinged-out 747 and may have mothballed two more, epitomizes the fading demand for these huge, fuel-guzzling, highly personalized airplanes. There aren’t many who want to buy them, and many of the governments and royal families who own them have been trying to ditch them over the past decade.

So, speaking of HHS, they are rehiring about 300 employees that they fired.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/oth...e41b7574&ei=49

The Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday reinstated 328 federal employees who faced terminations, including those involved in screening for “black lung” disease in coal miners and for health issues in 9/11 first responders.

The reinstated employees are part of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that is focused on preventing and responding to work-related illnesses.
There is more but that is the pertinent part of it. If I were any of those employees, I would really think long and hard about going to work for this administration. Because they have shown, time and time again, that they are just going to fire people because they want to, not because of any specific reason like a contract ending or something similar.

Casual reminder for some in the thread:

Firing and re-hiring people you fired is incredibly expensive and wasteful.

This happens when you have idiots trying to run the country like it's a fortune 500 company and they weren't even good CEOs when they where doing just that.

What republican voters don't get is government jobs are highly competitive purely due to stability if you take that away very few people will be willing to take the lower salaries.

"Am I returning at my previous seniority/salary or are you rehiring me as a new hire?"
That is a very important question.

Even Kid Rock knows that the ICE raids are bullshit since he closed his restaurant to avoid an ICE raid.

Dope, so you openly admit that Joe Biden had pretty good approval rates? 54% by this time in 2021. Which is 10% higher than Trump at this time.

Maybe he will put two and two together and realize less tariffs = more popular.

Wrong. Trump has the 2 lowest approvals at this time in any presidency.

That's a weird way of saying his restaurant employs undocumented people.

All restaurants are doing this. If anyone hears of ICE in the area every responsible manager who gives a shit about being able to open the next night will send the entire kitchen staff home regardless of their immigration status. It's simply not worth having your prep cook and sous chef who are both here with documentation locked up for a few weeks because the dishwasher you have is an undocumented guy from guatemala who does the job 5x better/faster than the last guy while also being the only one who would work for that pay.

the people pushing these policies have never worked back of the house in their life and it shows lmao

it's honestly pretty hard to go to any metro area in general and find many restaurants without undocumented staff, and not just from central/southern america. hell, you find undocumented kitchen staff in plenty of smaller cities and towns all over the country, too.

a lot of folks don't realize just how much of our service industry is built on a ton of hard working, underpaid folks here without documentation.

Yup. My first job at 15 was a dishwasher in an Italian restaurant in 1988. A few months after I started, we suddenly had 5 or 6 guys from Yugoslavia working in the restaurant. They worked their asses off. The owner also owned a house in town with 6 apartments in it, and it put them up in one of the apartments. Looking back, I'm sure he was paying them shit wages, and them taking a good chunk of it back in rent from them. I don't mean to stereotype, but the owner could've been Tony Soprano's shorter brother.

Edited to add: This was a small town in CT, so definitely not just an urban thing.

and by "service industry" you mean "literally the entirety of this country's history since white people first noticed that there was this whole other continent", right?

Kristi Noem has been working with the producer of “Duck Dynasty” to pitch a reality TV show—titled “The American”—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to a new report.
