Well, now, that's the problem. You see. Everything Trump does, the SC will drag their feet on ruling but the SC has given themselves the injunctive power. So once the ruling is made and the President is a Dem, you can bet that the SC will immediately step in on the injunction.

The Republicans know exactly what they're doing.

Now watch for the flurry of shit-ass EO's and hastily written laws that will have massive impacts upon the 2026 and 2028 elections in order to steal them for Republicans.

At this point, about the only recourse the public will have is for enough of them to start exerting their second amendment rights to fight tyranny.

To bad I have negative faith in them even attempting that and even if they got those majorities they would default back to being bipartisan or even potentially having a few just “decide” to switch parties so we get back to another Joe Manchin situation.

The practical advice is sound (water lawns less, don't waste it, and even fixing leaks makes sense), BUT that shouldn't be the follow up to "pray," as if this is 1925. I wonder how much the governor will have to kiss some massive mango ass to get even a little help.

unfortunately i think that question is kind of meaningless too, because the cause of this is that the current iteration of representative government in the US means that at least 49-55% of the active government at any given time is either engaged in the fuckery or supportive of the fuckery, and so there is never going to be any change from within the system.

from a macro view if some god emperor were to remake the US as they see fit to make it not suck, you'd need to start with assigning senators by state population and discontinuing the practice of gerrymandering, replacing it with an independent body that draws district maps.
would probably also be useful to either make more house reps based on the population of their district, or to make some kind of vote weighting system based on same.

the current state of things in the US will not change without either:
A. sudden and sustained violence that results in large scale systemic change,
B. a significant enough number of people who vote for republicans die off and are not replaced.

i don't know that i have a good handle on the likely voting habits of the under 40 population of the US right now so i can't say if a new generation of republican voters is priming to replace the current bloc of olds, so maaaaaaybe in about 25-30 years IF there's a dearth of replacement regressive stalwarts we might see a shift in US politics.
but it's gonna be just this shit and inevitably worse for sure from now until then.
