The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped form our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.
Well, considering how real estate loans are often set up, considering he never showed anyone the trade deal, considering he intentionally cultivated a rabid fanbase of fact- and education-averse cultists, and considering he's both senile and retarded, I'm going with "yes" until someone can prove otherwise. Which they can't, until he shows the trade deal he claims has Japan just handing half a billion dollars over to the US with no expectation of getting 90% of it back.
It’s been a hot minute since he weighed in, but I’d love, love love to hear @Somewhatconcerned ‘s take on all this. He seemed pretty adamant that Trump’s big beautiful plan (the best plan, the greatest plan) was going to make things cheaper: eggs, beef, you name it. Cheaper than Biden and his liberal communist policies making things more expensive. But that seems to not be the case! The economy seems to have been better when Biden was president!

Come now, we all know they'd post a link to an article about how everything is fine because the stock market is kinda sorta hovering at the spot it was 6 months ago, while ignoring the article's actual text saying things along the lines of "stocks should be way higher" and "it would be better for everyone if Trump did literally nothing" before vanishing again, like a shitty, less useful version of the Tuxedo Mask meme.
confirmed by my uncle nitnendo and masahiro samurai

So now apparently the trumps bots are saying there is gonna be a rebate given to citizens from the traffs just cause of an offhand question and “ we will think about it” reply.
Is it coming the same day the 5k dodge checks are coming? These guys are so desperate for any type of win to distract from the fact they voted in a pedo.
Students of future generations better be prepared to watch a lot videos of Trumpy talking. If they only read the transcripts they'll not be able to imagine anyone talking like that and their heads'll explode. It doesn't make sense when hearing him say it either, but at least they won't think it's a made up person.

While the bigger of these two Raw Stories is Pete Hegseth heading for the door...
...the better story might just be this one.Hegseth canceled two previously scheduled visits to military bases in Georgia to attend a White House meeting Thursday after The Washington Post reported he sent classified information over the non-secure Signal app. Sources close to the administration told NOTUS the latest revelations could be the last straw for the embattled cabinet official.
"A source close to the White House described one of President Donald Trump’s top aides as being 'p---ed off' about Hegseth’s time leading the Defense Department and feeling like it was 'time for him to go,'" the website reported. "A second source close to the White House confirmed the characterization of the aide’s stance."
The two sources told NOTUS the defense secretary was wearing out his welcome by repeatedly surprising the White House, such as his recent decision to pause a munitions shipment to Ukraine, and some congressional Republicans feel that his actions deserved consequences.
“I don’t think it’s partisan, but I do think it’s challenging for one branch to tell another branch that we are going to hold them accountable,” said Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “The entity that has to hold a secretary of defense accountable specifically is his boss, and that’s the president.”
Wanna see the video?Trump spoke to reporters Friday as the Marine One chopper prepared to take him to Andrews Air Force Base, where he would depart for a trip to his golf courses in Scotland. A correspondent asked why the dollar had lost so much value and whether Trump was concerned.
"Well, you know, I'm a person that likes a strong dollar, but a weak dollar makes you a hell of a lot more money," Trump said. "I hate to tell you, I don't know if you study it, but I study it, and if you look at the yen."
"I went to the same school," the reporter said. "I went to Penn and Wharton, so I know that."
"Is a weak dollar really better for making money? And if so, why does Trump want a strong dollar?"
Trump has a point, but it's in the "the best lies have a seed of truth to them" vein. As a basic example, let's say 100 EU = $100, and a loaf of bread costs 1 EU in Europe and 1 dollar in the USA. Doesn't matter which you use. Let's say 80 EU = $100 and the prices remain the same. Yes, someone using EU can get 1.25 loaves of US bread for the cost of 1 European bread. While this is not more actual currency for the bread seller, they might get more business due to their comparitively lower prices.
"Ahah! So it's genius! MAGA!"
Until you try to buy bread from the EU. Where you have to spend more $US to get the same result.
"Okay, then Americans will just buy only US bread, and we win."
The US is a net importer. Even Trump supporters know that, Trump knows and keeps talking about the wide trade gap and has personally taken steps to widen it. If you buy more bread than you sell, and it costs you more because you're importing (haven't even discussed tariffs yet), then the effect is a net loss.
In case you didn't go to Wharton, or in one fat orange case claim you went to Wharton but nobody remembers you attending classes, it's pretty easy to see the basics from basically any reasonable source.
"That source you linked says that a weak dollar is good for tourism! MAGA!"
Normally, yes. Normally, people want to visit the USA. They don't now. This ironically July 4th article from Forbes says the tourism industry is due to take a $29 billion hit, specifically due to Trump's policies. Making things worse, only two months earlier it was $23 billion, and Forbes also says it will cost 230,000 jobs.
A weaker US dollar is also good for foreign acquisitions, for example, if Japan wanted to buy Coca-Cola. Yes, it makes a sale more likely. Of course, it means Japan now owns Coca-Cola. Not great for the "buy American" mindset, but it's worse than that. The US dollar is down 10% since Trump took office, give or take. Foriegn investments are actually down.
Why haven't investments and acquisitions gone up? The obvious answer is "nobody wants to invest in the American market" of course. The EU is responsible for about 45% of foreign investments, and Trump has done nothing but shit on them. And then there's Section 899, a 20% bonus tax on foreign investments, making it less likely anyone will take advantage. These flows may emerge in full, in time. But official figures on Tuesday showed that FDI in the first quarter actually fell to $52.8 billion, the lowest total since the fourth quarter of 2022. That's well below the quarterly averages of the past 10 and 20 years.
So, Trump's desire for a weak dollar does have some advantages, but he's intentionally ruining some of those advantages.
"Well, what do you know, anyway? Did you go to Wharton or Penn?"
No. I taught there. And Trump needs to see me after class.

why is donald trump talking about pardoning ghislaine maxwell?
it sure sounds like he raped a whole bunch of children and is working very hard to cover that up now
It's mandatory to push the "hoax" narrative. Bear in mind, a pardon doesn't make her less guilty. She was arrested, tried, and convicted, all within the standard rule of law. It held up to appeals and scrutiny. Trump just says she shouldn't be in prison for, you know, directly committing sex trafficking.
The fact that he's even suggesting he might means every Trump supporter on these forums is, until they say otherwise, directly in favor of sex trafficking. There is no other way to view it.
