(EO itself seems oversold, "violate an applicable State or local law, such as open burning restrictions, disorderly conduct laws, or destruction of property laws" "conducted in a manner that is likely to incite imminent lawless action").

But I gather that this is just bait to get Congressmen to burn American flags, or commit crimes like burning somebody else's flag

But who knows with this supreme court.
The majority on this current court has been overall great on the first amendment. Why do you think otherwise? What case or cases?

Second, its really funny that socialism is coming under Trump lol.

This isn't about "standards bending", this is about right-wingers like yourself being unrepentant and open liars about the facts of what's actually happening. Because reality, apparently, has a left-wing slant you find offensive, or something.

Also, again, a temporary freeze. Not a single person lost any money.

I seem to be suffering deja vu. Wasn't something like this done a little over 80 years ago? I think it was in some European country. Can't seem to recall which one though.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday that the administration says will task Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth with establishing “specialized units” in the National Guard that will be “specifically trained and equipped to deal with public order issues.”

This move follows a directive by Hegseth last week that authorized members of the National Guard, who were deployed as part of Trump’s anti-crime agenda in Washington, DC, to begin carrying weapons.

National Guard members deployed to DC started carrying sidearms Sunday, a spokesperson for the Joint Task Force carrying out the mission told CNN.

On Monday, Trump suggested he’d ask Congress to codify the action, telling reporters in the Oval Office, “I think Democrats will actually vote for this.”

Trump signed several other executive actions Monday targeting cashless bail, withholding federal grant funding to jurisdictions that have abolished cash bail and moving criminal defendants in DC to federal custody where applicable to ensure they’ll be held in federal prison pre-trial.

Another order he signed enacts stricter penalties on American flag-burning, subjecting those who burn the US flag to one year in prison “where there’s evidence of criminal activity.”

Remember folks; temporarily freezing accounts to encourage people to leave after weeks of violence and abusive conduct is "authoritarian", but kicking the everloving shit out of random brown people and throwing them into vans to be disappeared into concentration camps in other States before deportion or some other final solution, that's freedom.

Somehow, that's an argument that a far-right extremist is going to present as if it's reasonable, normal discussion meant in good faith. Take that direct lack of respect for you and everyone else in these forums personally. This man is being abusive.

it's crazy how similar republicans are to the early nazis but they all get really upset if you point that out and then many of them...threaten to be even more like nazis?

really, it's weird, man. but it does make sense given that the republican party is the only major political party to regularly attract nazis as part of their core constituency

That's because you put everyone who debunks you and brings receipts on Ignore so you can pretend nobody proves you wrong consistently.

Sadly for you, that only means you don't see it. Everyone else gets to see me pointing to the evidence of actual violence throughout the trucker convoy.

Avoiding reality and facts doesn't make you "correct". It makes you willfully ignorant and a liar.

"Fact twisting" are exactly the words I'd use to describe acceding to Canada's use of emergency powers, as if it were a counterexample to America's. Ned was darn right to sieze upon Phaelix's "The reality Canadians don't want to admit: the same can be said of literally any country, including Canada," and fact twisting and lying and dishonesty were feeble attempts to deny that the comparison was appropriate and well-chosen. I do indeed wish the left would abandon the use of labeling and dismissing inconvenient conversations as "lying and fact twisting," since self-examination on the use of power from other countries' chief executives is instructive. I didn't see one person deny the protest was peaceful, nor deny that the bank accounts were frozen, so I don't think key facts are actually in dispute.
Facts really dont care about your feelings.

These are the subjective grounds to just ignore people, instead of posting multiple non-constructive, dismissive, and insulting responses. I'll leave it at that. Refer back to my original post if you have a germane example on the Canadian example of emergency powers as it relates to Trump's trend.

I thought the basic facts were not in dispute, but maybe there was an argument you agree with that I missed or was made by somebody on my ignore list?

Maybe they could call these new units Super Special troops. Their insignia could be the two S's shaped like lightning bolts. They could even get them as tattoos to show how much they love their new assignment!

Anything to distract from the reality that Donald Trump is a child-raping abuser named extensively in the Epstein Files, which he's blocking the release of and trying to edit to evade that fact being confirmed, and who's teasing Ghislaine Maxwell with a pardon if she'll lie to protect his ass.

All this is deflection away from that central fact; their support of child-rapists.

Dude, you consistently put anyone who brings facts to debunk you onto your Ignore list. That's what you use that Ignore list for.

Every ground to ignore someone is subjective. There is no objective ground to ignore someone. What an odd thing to write.

I have ignored nobody, though. I don't ignore you. I just don't take bad-faith arguments seriously and waste time on them anymore.

The Canadian government literally lost its case if it was justified in freezing peoples bank accounts and that it violated their rights lol

And the Ottawa Police were found to have been derelict in their duties and far too permissive.

You also don't understand the case against the federal government. The only thing criticised was whether there were grounds to use the Emergencies Act. The court found that the federal government overstepped, yes, but that decision's currently under appeal; this isn't even a settled issue.

Worse, you don't understand the difference between "illegal", and "unlawful". Nothing the federal government did was illegal. Stop making up bullshit.

Before Trump sends armed troops to another US city, just posting a reminder that the states with the higher murder rates are the states in the South.

These are the states ranked by murder rate 2023, starting with the highest:

    Louisiana
    New Mexico
    Alabama
    Tennessee
    Arkansas
    Missouri
    South Carolina
    Alaska
    Maryland
    North Carolina
    Georgia
    Mississippi
    Nevada
    Pennsylvania
    and then Illinois.

Murder is demonstrably a Republican issue.

"Well clearly this is about cities, not states! Cities with commie librul mayors and filled with illegals!"

Okay, let's look at cities by murder rate. Number one is Birmingham.

"Clearly a random outlier. What's second?"

St. Louis. And Kansas City is eighth. Hey, who did Missouri vote for?

    "I meant third!"

    Memphis.

    "...uh..."

D.C. is tenth. Trump missed the first nine by "accident". Three of them are in Ohio (Cleveland, Dayton, and the 2019 Bengals) And one of them is Baltimore, so, that's really his problem.

Trump does not care about crime. If Trump cared about crime, he would be bringing up Alabama and Louisiana. He's not. This is about suppression. And I am not looking forward to what happens when out-of-town National Guard members go south of 60th street and start some shit with brown people.
