Using Trump logic how exactly is he on the bottom of the totem pole if he's somehow saving thousands of people a day?

Oh, I'm sure he's serious. Even he knows he's dying, far sooner than him or his owners expected, and even he knows he's a piece of shit.

Let's expand on that, and expand on it.

So you know how Trump wants to ban flag-burning, despite SCOTUS being clear on the matter?

It's clear he, like others, don't know the actual rules for flags.

    4 U.S. Code § 8 - Respect for flag

No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

    (skip ahead)

(k)The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
Yep. Burning the flag is 100% respecting it. When it's damaged, of course, but that means banning flag burning is also against standard US govt/military code.

    There's also this:

(d)The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
"Okay, why quote that part, exactly?"

Because Friday, Trump either doubled down on the disrespect, or had a sundowning grandpa moment in public.

Rep. John Rose (R-Ten-Nine-Eight) gave Trump an American flag, pretty standard one, saying it was from a constituent. That part may or may not be true, don't care.

Trump said “Oh, I could use that at night."

He was immediately told "It's an American flag."

Now it's highly unlikely Trump, or anyone, saw a flag and thought "I needed a flag that I could display as a flag specifically at night." The WH has flags, large ones, on display at all times (illuminated, even though 4 U.S. Code § 8 actually does not spell out anything about night/darkness.

    This leaves two options:

    1) Trump recognized it as a flag but still thought it was a blanket, a sign of disrespect, and pledged to use it, furthering that disrespect. Or possibly a sheet, if he saw the thickness of the fabric, but that's just as bad.

    2) Trump didn't recognize the American flag when he saw it, thinking it was a non-flag decorative blanket.

Incidentally, the WH probably also has blankets, but this is still more likely than the "display at night" option.

Obviously, I am going with option number 2, befitting Trump. Considering the years of his disrespect for objective facts and evidence, it would make sense the senile, retarded, sick old man couldn't even recognize the symbol of the country he claims to love.

Yeah, he's not well. Maybe not dying soon, but we continue to see mounting signs of his physical and mental unwellness.

So Bessent did what no Team Trump member should ever do, go in front of the press and attempt to answer questions.

It went as well as expected.

The Treasury Department will issue rebates if the Supreme Court upholds a ruling that Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs were an overstep of power, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Sunday.

“We would have to give a refund on about half the tariffs, which would be terrible for the Treasury,” Bessent said during an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

He added that, “If the court says it, we’d have to do it.”

But there are “numerous other avenues” that can be taken on tariffs, though they would “diminish Trump’s negotiating position,” Bessent said, without citing details.
    "What other avenues?"

Well, Trump seems fond of declaring war, he'll probably just do that, then there's an emergency, then he can do tariffs again.

    "You can't possibly be serious."

(points at Chicago meme Trump thought was worth posting) I'm at least as serious as Trump is. Was there something about blowing up the boat filled with people denied a trial you didn't understand?

    "Why half the tariffs?"

Because Trump is always negotiating. He probably legitimately thinks that, if you steal, you can plea bargain and keep half the money you stole. Look at his record in civil suits, this does match his history.

"How terrible for the Treasury would this be?"

Well, it was a tax increase Trump created out of thin air, without a Congressional vote or budget line, so my guess is "none". He could be trying to say that this means the trillions the budget Trump did sign would add to the national debt, but that would be disingenuous. Which also tracks.

I tell you what, let's throw this open to the floor. Why would a tax increase Trump unilaterally imposed out of nowhere, being removed, be bad for the Treasury, which was never counting on it in the first place? I'll read all honest, genuine attempts to answer, which is trivial for me to offer, because Trump supporters are coward pussy trolls and won't even bother trying.

It probably means the terrorists, kiddie diddlers, and fraudsters he pardoned for their participation and actions in the January 6th terrorist attacks, then subsequently employed as ICE agents, may not have the tons of funding they were counting on.
Yes, Congress practically said "Give them a blank check, we'll have the money."
And they did. Until they didn't.
Which means ICE gets funding cut, or deficit goes BRRR. Or goes BRRRer.

Sadly, the Big Beautiful Bill that gave obscene amounts of money to ICE and exploded the deficit was not legally tied to the tariffs, so the deficit will most definitely go BRRRer.

UPDATE: Trump was booed and everyone saw it.

Donald Trump was booed and cheered at the US Open during the national anthem before Sunday’s men’s final. When stadium monitors showed him saluting as a member of West Point performed The Star-Spangled Banner, a burst of cheers sprang up and was quickly drowned out by boos, at which point Trump offered a brief smirk. After the first changeover, he reappeared on the big screen and stayed up there for a while – causing fans to boo even longer until the camera cut away.

Trump’s return to the US Open marked his first time at the tournament since 2015, when he was booed after leaving a match between Serena and Venus Williams. Invited to this year’s tournament by Rolex, he sat in a suite next to a winner’s trophy among a welter of cabinet and family members. He arrived more than an hour before the scheduled start of the match and raised a triumphant fist for the cameras.

Meanwhile, thousands of fans were left trickling into the match because of the heightened security around Trump’s visit. The stadium was not yet at its expected capacity 45 minutes into the match, at which point Carlos Alcaraz already had a 6-2 lead over Jannik Sinner.

In a statement, the Secret Service said that protecting the president “required a comprehensive effort” that “may have contributed to delays for attendees.”
P.S. his hand was damn near dipped in makeup.

You gotta wonder why the makeup artists haven't been covering the hand. It seems more like he's slapping it on by himself. The White House did better PR for him while he had Covid and almost died.

I seen someone compare him to Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? I mean the comparisons are definitely there. Doom wants to eliminate ToonTown. Trump wants to dismantle Democratic Cities. Doom wants to remove toons from existence. Trump wants to do the same to people with brown skin. Can't really argue with the comparison.

Old pedophile yells at reporter for asking him the obvious question of a thing he said he'd do.

President Donald Trump on Sunday berated a reporter who asked about his repeated threats to send the military into Chicago.

“Are you trying to go to war with Chicago?” asked NBC’s Yamiche Alcindor one day after the president threatened the city with the “Department of WAR” in a social media post.

“When you say that, darling, that’s fake news,” Trump fired back.

When Alcindor tried to ask a follow-up, Trump lost it.

“Listen. Be quiet. Listen,” he demanded. “You don’t listen. You never listen. That’s why you’re second-rate.”

Trump also denied “war” with Chicago.

“We’re not going to war. We’re gonna clean up our city. We’re gonna clean ’em up so they don’t kill five people every weekend,” he said. “That’s not war. That’s common sense.”

Trump on Saturday posted an image of himself in a scene from “Apocalypse Now” with the phrase “Chipocalypse Now” over it and an image of the city’s skyline with military choppers behind him.

“I love the smell of deportations in the morning,” Trump posted. “Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.”

Trump says he’s ready to implement second phase of sanctions against Russia

"Not tariffs, which he says are necessary for National Security?"

He didn't say tariffs, no, but to be fair it wouldn't matter if he did. We barely buy anything from Russia. He might, he might not, not even he knows, and it makes no difference.

"What's stopping him from doing this?"

    Nothing. It's 100% his call.

"Why hasn't he done it already?"

He was too busy watching tennis.

I'd be entirely surprised if his will doesn't have stipulations that nobody inherits anything unless they, like, build him a shrine to house his corpse.

The US Department of Energy got community noted on Twitter because they don't know how batteries work or what they're for.

Just a reminder that the Nazis were infamous for their occult shit and pseudoscience because they were actively hostile to real scientists and academia as a whole. Which also happens to be the reason the USA got a ton of great scientists during and before WW2, scientists rightfully knew they were looked down upon and took themselves somewhere else.

Academia in the USA is also seeing its most brilliant minds being poached by European and Chinese universities under the Trump administration. The brain drain is hitting us from both ends. The dumbest people are getting dumber and our smartest people are leaving.

To be fair, a big part of that was also that a ton of great German scientists were Jewish and had other reasons to want to GTFO of Germany. A couple of them were even Nobel Prize winners, and a fellow scientist dissolved their medals in acid to prevent them from being confiscated, then reconstituted the gold back out after the war so they could be recast and returned.

Of course, this is still no less true. Trump is fucking us over for at least a generation, and I think still going to be just how badly years after he's out of office.

While I understand the need for the almighty dollar, seeing all the tech CEO's groveling at trumps feet last week was truely sickening. Even names like Bill Gates, who I thought despised trump, sold his soul to sit at the table. Or something, I don't know, I really, really don't get it. Trumps polls numbers are getting worse by the day, he is not on a winning side now, or in a history book in the future. This man is not a good ally and I think we should all remember some names who enable his behavoir.
I know its too much to ask for regular Joe's to boycotts all this stuff, but just keep an eye out for some names and avoid them if possible.

They are “smart,” in the sense that they know Trump is easily manipulated. They wish to curry his favor and get people on the inside of his random flailing to try and keep them ahead of it.

Their “intelligence” does not extend to “backbone.”
