    UK: 1.148 (2021)
    Norway: 0.725 (2023)
    Japan: 0.233 (2022)
    Israel: 1.626 (2022)
    Canada: 2.273 (2022)

    Yes, Canada's is relatively high. However, let's get to the USA;

    USA: 5.763 (2023)

More than double Canada's, more than four times the UK's. The USA is a violent country, and has higher criminal violence rates than the rest of the developed world. That's just a statistical fact. It's higher than many developing countries. Sure, there are nations out there with bigger problems, but the only one of them that's a major global power is Russia. And they're not that much higher at 6.799.

Okay, you're right. There is something in the drinking water. Despite the fact we've got 340 million and water test kits are readily available in this country (I can literally order a dozen different brands that will be delivered to my house by tomorrow morning).

    It's the water.

Things like gun culture and socio-economic disparities, poor mental health control. That has nothing to do with it.

    It's the water.

I recommend you universally condemn political violence, and stow the "MAGAs main preachers of hate" if you think a similar thing shouldn't be said if it was Mamdani. The measure you use is the measure you recommend.

it would be said if it was mamdani lol, of course it would be said

just see the lack of any serious concern from republicans after the political assassinations of democrats in Minnesota

but of course you'd rather clutch pearls than acknowledge that liberals are just, finally, treating republicans like they've treated liberals

Trump ally Charlie Kirk shot during event at Utah Valley University
Why are GOp states so dangerous, I am very concerned.
Utah does love its guns more than it's children.

tHoughTs and PrayErs, violence has no place in politics.

Holy shit I could literally walk to UVU...I don't know why but having this happen so close to home has me all sorts of fucked up about this. No one should support this kind of violence. I will refrain from posting links to any videos, search at your own peril, but I don't see how he survives that.

I am fairly certain he's not walking away from this, but let's not sensationalize it. He was shot in the neck.

    Absolutely disgusting act of violence.

Not going to lie. I didn't know what happened. I just saw people saying some MAGA was shot and likely killed. Went to a news source and had a hearty LOL.

Maybe one of the government mouth pieces getting shot will spur Republicans into action in looking or ways to solve gun violence and mental health problems but I suspect not when classrooms full of dead 5 year olds couldn't get them to lift a finger.

Didnt this guy literally "preach" death to groups he didnt like? Or is that some other alt-right jackoff?

I lose track of "whos who" in the ever growing conservative wank-fest to see who can be the most despicable human being.

It’s not because it’s fun. God knows it’s not because it’s easy. It’s not even because it works because it hardly ever does.. I DO WHAT I DO BECAUSE IT’S RIGHT! Because it’s decent! And above all, it’s kind! It’s just that.. Just kind."

It's not sustainable for DC. Build with heavy tourism in mind, DC lost a lot of visitors over and above America losing a lot of visitors. Trump even did a photo op going to a diner just to lie about how people were going out to eat, when they weren't.

WaPo goes even further, although a lot of it is specific examples of people whose business was cut in half. Sometimes literally.

Since Trump keeps claiming his tariffs have brought in trillions when that's a forecast assuming no changes in ten years (there have been changes in the last ten days) I am therefore allowed to do the same. Sending the National Guard to DC has cost DC tens of millions of dollars.

And one more time: there is no National Guard temporary deployment in Birmingham, AL, which has far more crime, violent crime, and murder per capita than DC. Until such a surge exists, we have proof that it's not crime that's the problem, and anyone claiming it is is a lying coward pussy troll.

Maybe take a step back and realize that you're really angry that I pointed out statistical facts (violence rates in the USA) that contradicted one of your premises (that the USA is not more violent than other similar countries).

I never said anything about it being "in the water". You claimed that "The fact that America is portrayed as some crime capital wild wild west is overblown media bullshit". I was pointing out that the USA is an unusually violent nation. It is a "crime capital wild west", compared to most other developed nations.

If you can only respond to a point of yours being debunked by throwing a tantrum, throw me on Ignore like tehdang did. It won't stop me doing it, but maybe it'll help your stress level. Or you can try and get a handle on your anger issues and not fly off the handle like that over basically nothing.

I read news on the guy who stabbed the Ukranian woman and holy shit. HE NEEDED MENTAL HELP. He tried to get it MULTIPLE times and every time was discharged from hospital care within 24 hours. According to his family, he was on the way to a hospital trying to get mental help because he was a schizo and thought the government had put stuff in his brain and was controlling him.

Two things Republicans have no interest in trying to resolve:

    Mental Health problems

    Gun Control

They know that both of those things will have a severe negative impact on their electorate because a large number of Republicans are gun-worshipping nut jobs.

    Naw, I don't think I will.
This is where the idiom, "You reap what you sow" seems about right.

Also, why am I engaging with a proud champion for sexual assault after I told myself not to ever?
My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.

No. I'm not angry. I'm pointing out that you're talking out of your fucking ass and the rest of whatever bullshit you just said isn't even worth reading. I stopped where the end quote is.

I didn't DENY that America is a violent place. I said since we resolved LEAD issues, which were environmental, that crime has gone down.

I said it's not the drinking water. We have test kits readily available and would know if there is a contaminant causing that.

Chill your ass off and quit typing so much bullshit to justify your garbage fucko take.

One more time and you can enjoy the ignore list with the rest of the people with garbage fucking takes on this forum.

Feel free to find literally any time I have said I "love" violence.

I've said that violence is a tool. I've said that the state uses violence itself, as every single interaction with police involves if not direct violence then the threat of it. I've said that if you apply pressure to a population too much or for too long, without allowing them an outlet, they will turn to violence.

None of that is me saying I "love" violence. It's just describing the objective reality around violence and human behaviour. My political positions, including all my socialist leanings, are primarily about reducing violence, by mitigating the pressures that lead to it.

If you made any effort to understand people, maybe you wouldn't have shoved your foot knee-deep in your mouth like that.

If you want to "universally condemn political violence", then I'm sure you condemn Trump for pardoning the violent January 6 seditionists? You condemn the violent ICE raids and kidnappings of non-violent people? You condemn police brutality and the overbearing use of violence in general by police?

Or is this just another ethical principle you'll bring up when you don't actually agree with it for a hot second? Like every other moral or ethical principle you've ever brought up?

Indeed, this is clearly criminal and whoever did it should be arrested. It's a shame they felt this was they way to handle things, but as America has long since proven that this is a price it is prepared to pay to keep high-powered firearms in the hands of even mentally ill Americans.

Charlie Kirk Says Gun Deaths ‘Unfortunately’ Worth it to Keep 2nd Amendment

    From April 2023.

You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It's drivel. But I am—I think it's worth it.

I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe.
The tour was called the "Prove Me Wrong" tour. Perhaps he should have been more specific.
