Out of morbid curiosity how long do you think it will be before the regime starts banning the ownership of firearms? If we take Vlad's comment that we've seen the last free election in 2020 and that Trump will stay in power for as long as he wants to, exactly how long before those 2A loving farmers who just lost their soybean and likely their beef sales start going after the person who caused it? We've already had Trump say during his first term to just take the guns and figure it out later.

Another thing people need to realize is that “after Trump” will only happen when Trump dies or when he himself decides to cede power to someone else. There will not be another Democratic president in a generation. Maybe when dust settles on 2026 people will start to realize that we have had our last free election in 2020.

If Trump successfully stole the nation like that, it would collapse within a generation and you can best bet they will have started a war.

This is a tried and true tactic that the likes of Putin, Orban and Chavez have used.

When shit goes south as a consequence of whatever nonsense you are doing, give people who are ideologically or emotionally aligned with you a pat on the head, claim you are trying to help them, and give them a straw man to attack.

In Russia it's "the West".
In Hungary it's the "EU and globalists".
In Venezuela it's "the counterrevolutionaries".

It's about channeling the anger, not fixing anything.

Americans like to think of themselves as "independent" and "rebellious" and "rogue" and all that bullshit, meanwhile they are the most pussy whiped, defanged, passive, servile, fearful people in the West.

why would they bother doing that though when they can and will continue winning elections legitimately? especially given that the broader US regressive political project doesn't specifically require them to be in majority power? shit like gerrymandering and logistical vote suppression i'd consider just par for the course for regressives, and also those things are allowed under the setup in the US.
but an outright takeover of the election process or large scale subversion... i have trouble seeing the advantage there since they have pretty good odds of legitimately winning a given election.

That might fly for Trump’s sycophants but it’s never been about them. They believe him now as hard as they did in 2020 when he lost. It’s about all of the politically ill-informed and otherwise disinterested core of voters we’re forced to rely on to swing elections.

Actually every dictator does you are thinking about the end not at the start, every dictator that has tried to take power without that initial popularity has ended up dead or overthrown. This could have gone really bad if I-5 was not closed to traffic. Artillery shells were not designed to explode on impact. They have timers which allow them to explode several feet above the ground maximizing shrapnel damage to the enemies. The shell must have exploded prematurely, and one of the shrapnel fell on one of the CHP cruisers that was part of the VP motorcade. Caltrans had to clean shrapnel off the freeway.

It's generally recognized that the identifiable figure, if you look historically, is more like 3.5%. 3.5% of the population getting off their asses for a peaceful revolution is all it really takes.

You need more passive support, generally, to make that last, but that already exists in the US. It's the active component that you need moving their butts into place.

The No Kings protests got about 2% of the American people to step up. So you're only about halfway to the critical point, as record-setting as those protests were. You also need to be better prepared for general civil disobedience, broadly speaking.
