It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Yikes. Talk about being needlessly cruel.

USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse. I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

    Lies!! Unfortunately, its not.

No other administrations have ever enforced this rule on previous shutdowns. The president that selectively ignored the Supreme Court ruling on TikTok could not be bothered to do the same for the neediest US citizens.

I would clap and cheer if my grocery stores decided to give discount to SNAP recipients. Fairness be damned.

I know one person who is on it but doesn’t know too much about politics but is Lumbee and did like that part. Wonder how she will see it since she is dying to find work while relying on food stamps to eat.

To point; USDA does have rules against Grocers charging different prices for SNAP recipients, but it was mostly to prevent price gouging and -actually- abusing folks' government subsidies to squeeze out extra money. Now they're just abusing it in the other way in order to make sure people on these programs feel the squeeze for reasons stupid ('They'll -have- to blame Dems for this shutdown now!!') and cruel ('Nothing motivates these lazy assholes more like starving them intentionally')

Alexis Maria, a single mother is one of those and says she deeply regrets her support of Trump.

“The last time Trump was president, I made more money than ever in my career. Prices were low. Gasoline was cheap. I remember going on vacation. Interest rates were lower. Now everything is out of control. I can’t even afford the air we breathe. Now I see that I made the wrong decision,” she says.

Maria, who relies on food stamps to feed her two children, says "The government is the reason we’ve been able to eat most of the month, and the other half, I’m counting each cent to survive, what with food prices and rent."

As Maria searches for food banks and organizations to help her and her family, her anger at supporting Trump grows.

"Now I need to go three times a week to feed my family, and the lines every week have been longer. This sums up why I’m angry with the president. His decisions are now [adversely] affecting the lower and middle class. They only benefit the rich,” she says.

Central Florida resident Michael Lyras is disabled and on food stamps and says that though he voted for Trump three times, he's deeply unsatisfied.

“I regret my last vote enormously,” he says. "It was necessary to make changes, but not in this way, sacrificing our civil rights and liberties that are enshrined in our Constitution,” Lyras adds. “[Trump] is turning this into a police state and he’sacting like an authoritarian. I didn’t vote for any of this”

Trump supporter Cuban Pita says that the Trump administration's immigration policies are “a Republican political manipulation. … If you say you’re going to deport all criminals, even migrants, like me, they [voters] are happy with that. That is why the Latino vote was oriented towards Trump. People agreed with what the Republicans were saying in the campaign, which was: ‘I’m going to get rid of all criminals.’ But what Trump is doing is something else, and it is very cruel and very bad, and they are going to pay dearly.”

"Latinos" in Florida, primarily Cubans, along with Puerto Ricans and other Latin American countries, have historically voted Republican. Seeing themselves more relatable to the Caucasian/European culture rather that the Latino/Hispanic one. What a shock it must be to them that this Administration groups them along with the rest of the national Hispanic/Latino community as it enforces their deportation crackdowns.

The Tally: What the data reveals about ICE detainers in Florida

As of the latest data, there have been 4,805 arrests involving ICE encounters in Martin County, Florida, within the last 90 days.

    That's just in one county.

Oh look, another "I didn't vote for any of this" story from someone who did, in fact, vote for ALL of this. Fuck these people and their colossal wilful ignorance.

Every single one of these fuckers needs to be aggressively denied plausible deniability.

You did, in fact, "vote for all this". Until you admit that and engage in some self-reflection to determine why you're such a terrible human being, you won't even get better. Why were you so vicious-minded you voted for the child rapist and fraudster running on a campaign largely predicated on open bigotry? Whatever reasons you had, they were shit, and reflect on why you are a bad person. An evil person. You suck, abysmally. And insisting it's not your fault or you did not want it when it's exactly what you voted for is just gaslighting everyone around you. You're trying to duck responsibility. You voted for harm to be inflicted on others but it's somehow unfair that you didn't realize that harm would affect you? Kindly and respectfully eat all the shit you can physically cram into your goddamned mouth hole. You're terrible, and you're actively choosing to be even worse. You do not deserve sympathy. You dug yourself into a hole for people to be shit on, and now that you're getting shit on, it's a bad idea? Fuck you. You deserve all of this, just for wanting others to suffer it in your place. And now you can't even be honest about it. You know you're pieces of shit, but you won't own up to being awful, miserable, abusive sadistic shitheads.

You reap what you fuckin' sow.

Some interesting numbers of ICE detainees as of September 2025.

Per capita arrests (arrests per 100,000 residents):
    – Texas: 86.6
    – Florida: 55.9
    – Utah: 47.0
    – Arizona: 46.8
    – Tennessee: 45.9
    – Arkansas: 44.4
    – Oklahoma: 43.6
    – Louisiana: 42.7
    – Georgia: 42.5
    – Nevada: 40.6

All 10 voted for him in 2024.

    Total detention counts:
    – Texas: 13,307 detainees
    – Louisiana: 7,470
    – California: 3,727
    – Georgia: 2,998
    – Arizona: 2,678

Except CA, the other 4 voted for Trump in 2024. Crazy that the number of arrests in TX is almost 4 times that of CA. LA is double that of CA.

Sorry Lyras, you did vote for this. It was out there in the open. Trump was shouting it from the rooftops. Now sit down and let that leopard eat your face.

On a side note, I sympathize with those children that the woman has but as far as she goes, once again, she voted for him knowing full well that he actively wanted to do just this. So if she has to go hungry, so be it.

    Bootstraps and all that jazz.

A few miles away, another prison employee, Crystal Minton, accompanied her fiancé to a friend's house to help clear the remnants of a metal roof mangled by the hurricane. Ms. Minton, a 38-year-old secretary, said she had obtained permission from the warden to put off her Mississippi duty until early February because she is a single mother caring for disabled parents. Her fiancé plans to take vacation days to look after Ms. Minton's 7-year-old twins once she has to go to work. The shutdown on top of the hurricane has caused Ms. Minton to rethink a lot of things."I voted for him, and he's the one who's doing this," she said of Mr. Trump. "I thought he was going to do good things. He's not hurting the people he needs to be hurting."
    This was in 2019.

What about 2026 and 2028? Are they still going to vote Republicans?

Since we're still on the topic of wanting to shutdown airports.. https://www.cnn.com/2025/11/04/us/up...sville-airport
The smoke plume showed up on radar. Somehow it'll be the Democrats at fault, though.

    hope the crewmembers survive

i do wonder if these incidents have actually increased since this administration fired all the people with pronouns in their signatures or if it's a "media are just reporting on it more" thing

I think Trump is going to ramp up his agitation efforts now that Dems has won a bunch of state election AND his efforts in Portland and Chicago aren't going as planned. Fascists need a boogeyman to enact authiritar policies, and he isn't getting it. The country is racist but not racist enough. The economy is shit but not enough. He fucked over the federal government too much for people to be angry at it so he can justify retaliation and sweeping power grabs. Hopefully his administration is too stupid to figure it out.

Whatever they'll try it'll either be transparent and stupid; or they won't do anything immidiately visible and just double down on their power grab and hope it'll be enough to insulate them from an increasingly irate electorate.

So as expected, 2/3rds of Americans rejected trump and his party and their policies. Now this would be a great time for Republicans to change course and work on more of the issues of the people like the economy to try and get above water.
But nope, trump won't be doing that. Tariffs have an 18 pt dissapproval and have been proven disastrous, but he won't reverse course on them, he we ramp up and double down. He will continue with being misinformed about crime in cities, about green energy and about foriegn policy. He will be proud of being misinformed and he will go to his grave tweeting how right he is. Being wrong, and dumb, will be legacy.
Now, he better hustle on his ballroom, time is ticking donnie.
My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.
