Of course the Democrats will vote no now because they want to cover their own ass, and only do things to go against the great leader!

That was from Epstiens estate, not the DoJ. Those were stuff that Trump failed to take as evidence in his first term as I understand it.

Makes you wander what they actually took if they left that.

The Justice Department engaged in a “disturbing pattern of profound investigative missteps” in the process of securing an indictment against former FBI Director James Comey, a federal judge ruled Monday in directing prosecutors to produce to defense lawyers all grand jury materials from the case.

Those problems, wrote Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick, include “fundamental misstatements of the law” by a prosecutor to the grand jury that indicted Comey in September, the use of potentially privileged communications during the investigation and unexplained irregularities in the transcript of the grand jury proceedings.

“The Court recognizes that the relief sought by the defense is rarely granted,” Fitzpatrick wrote “However, the record points to a disturbing pattern of profound investigative missteps, missteps that led an FBI agent and a prosecutor to potentially undermine the integrity of the grand jury proceeding.

The 24-page opinion is the most blistering assessment yet by a judge of the Justice Department’s actions leading up to the Comey indictment. That case, along with a separate prosecution of New York Attorney General Letitia James, have stirred concerns that the Justice Department is being weaponized to pursue President Donald Trump’s political opponents.
Surprising nobody, Pam Bondi and Donald Trump's DoJ/FBI continue to be incompetent. Which isn't surprising when you're forcing prosecutors to come up with bullshit cases that don't exists and all the competent ones quit as a result.

Fitzpatrick listed among the irregularities two different comments that a prosecutor — presumably, Halligan — made to the grand jury that he said represented “fundamental misstatements of the law.” The actual statements are blacked out, but Fitzpatrick said the prosecutor seems to have ignored the fact that grand jurors cannot make a negative inference about a person who, like Comey, exercised a constitutional right to not testify.
Donald has plead the fifth a lot. by his own doj's standard he's guilty as fuck in a lot of things.

republicans hate it when you actually hold them to their own standards

It's just awful that our first atheist LGBTQ president is Trump even without the YMCA song, there's the heavy make up, talking about people's cock and performing felatio on a mic. We just attributed it to him just being crazy but everything fits together now.

And of course Trump is okay with bombing Mexico and it's "land corridor" as long as it's under the idea of "stopping drugs."

Donald Trump is open to the possibility of launching attacks on Mexico to stop the flow of drugs, he told reporters in the White House Monday.

“It’s OK with me,” Trump said. “Whatever we have to do to stop drugs. Mexico is, look, I looked at Mexico City over the weekend, some big problems over there.”

Trump bragged about his bombing campaign across the Caribbean Sea and in the Pacific Ocean next to Central America, claiming that it had reduced the drug flow into the U.S. by 85 percent.

“We have almost no drugs coming into our country by the sea, by, you know, the waterways, and you know why, OK? I mean, it’s pretty obvious. Would I do that on the land corridor?” Trump said, making a positive gesture. When a reporter asked if he would need Mexico’s permission, the president was dismissive.

“I wouldn’t answer that question. I’ve been speaking to Mexico. They know how I stand. We’re losing hundreds of thousands of people to drugs. So now we’ve stopped the waterways. We know every route,” Trump said, claiming that the government knows where “every druglord” lives. He said that he’d be proud to go to Congress and claimed that he would have the support of Republicans and Democrats “unless they’re crazy.”

“I am not happy with Mexico,” Trump said, concluding the press session.

The Trump administration has bombed dozens of boats south of the United States without providing evidence that they are trafficking drugs, or providing the names of people killed in the strikes. In some cases, the dead and injured were fishermen whom the U.S. declined to prosecute.

The strikes have been condemned by multiple countries, with some even opting to stop sharing drug-trafficking intelligence with the U.S. out of fear that it would be used for more bombings without transparency. Even Republicans have spoken out against the strikes. But if Trump decides to strike Mexico, that could change, as some Republicans have been egging on the president to bomb the country for years.

Trump himself told advisers in his first presidential term that he wanted to “bomb the drugs” in Mexico, and even devised plans to invade the country before beginning his second term. Will he follow through, or is this just the ravings of a man experiencing cognitive decline?

Anyone claiming Trump isn't going full dictator is willfully lying.

Over the weekend, he fired off another angry rant aimed at “Late Night” host Seth Meyers.

“NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS),” the president wrote on his Truth Social website on Saturday. “He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER. Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”

“Last night,” in this case, would have been Friday, when the show was broadcasting a rerun of an episode from two weeks prior.

Trump, who often rails against TV hosts who mock him, has been especially angry at Meyers lately. Earlier this month, Trump said Meyers “may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television.” Trump then shifted to all-caps to call Meyers “NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”
Yep. Being 100% anti-Trump is "probably illegal".

    Anyone want to defend that?

If she lied in that statement asserting that everything was turned over, then the judge needs to indefinitely hold her in contempt until charges can be brought and she loses her fucking license. Don't leave it up to the DOJagoffs to prosecute over prosecutorial misconduct.

I continue to fall back on the most insightful analogy to all this Christofascist bullshit.

Religion is like a penis. You can enjoy your penis all you like in private. Or with a group of whatever size of people who share your enjoyment of your penis and penis-related activities. Don't pull it out in public and wave it around, though. Keep that penis in your pants, nobody outside your weekly orgies wants to know anything at all about your penis or how proud you are of it. Stop being so fucking weird about it.

huh. The 2nd declined case for religious fanatics in as many weeks. Wonder what's going on over there. Maybe they're trying to keep their veneer of legitimacy before unconditionally handing the keys to the economy over to a conman.

I still don’t believe that’s happening. A lot of rich folks have already bought the tariff notes or whatever and a lot of people get a lot richer the second the tariffs are struck down.

Judge orders DOJ to give Comey grand jury records, citing prosecutor's misconduct

    *ding*

Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick scolded the DOJ in the order for what he said was a glaring mishandling of evidence presented to grand jurors and possible misstatements by the case's lead prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan.

"The Court is finding that the government’s actions in this case — whether purposeful, reckless, or negligent — raise genuine issues of misconduct, are inextricably linked to the government’s grand jury presentation, and deserve to be fully explored by the defense," Fitzpatrick wrote.

The judge also warned that the grand jury proceedings may have been tainted beyond repair and could cause the court to dismiss the indictment. Comey is facing one charge of a false statement to Congress and one charge of obstruction of justice. He has pleaded not guilty and moved to have his case dismissed on several grounds.

The grand jury issue stems from evidence Halligan presented to the grand jury that the judge said improperly stemmed from years-old warrants.

Halligan, a former White House aide and insurance lawyer who had no prior prosecutorial experience, was installed by Trump in September as interim U.S. attorney as part of the DOJ's rush to fulfill Trump's demand that Comey be charged before the statutes of limitation expired.

When presenting the case to the grand jury, Halligan relied on evidence gathered from 2019 and 2020 warrants that were part of a past investigation while, according to the judge, brushing off rules surrounding how investigators and prosecutors are permitted to review and seize information obtained through the warrants.

Fitzpatrick said the DOJ showed a "cavalier attitude" toward the Fourth Amendment, which governs citizens' privacy rights.

"Inexplicably, the government elected not to seek a new warrant for the 2025 search, even though the 2025 investigation was focused on a different person, was exploring a fundamentally different legal theory, and was predicated on an entirely different set of criminal offenses," Fitzpatrick wrote. "The Court recognizes that a failure to seek a new warrant under these circumstances is highly unusual."

He also said that based on transcripts of the grand jury proceedings, Halligan made prejudicial and misleading statements, including conveying to grand jurors that Comey did not have a Fifth Amendment right.
    Wow.

It's like...we all know Team Trump has a court record that's basically negative, they lost a court case against a ham sandwich for fuck's sake, but even for how inept Team Trump is, this is bad. Seriously, I want to see people sanctioned or thrown in jail for contempt for this. Denying anyone their 5th Amendment rights on purpose? That should be an immediate dismissal, preferably with prejudice.

Fannie Mae officials saw no evidence of mortgage fraud against Letitia James, filing shows

So, Comey and James within 24 hours basically both told their own court cases "these are Trumped-up charges based on nothing, and I can prove it".

Senior fraud investigators at Fannie Mae believed there was no clear evidence to prove that New York Attorney General Letitia James committed mortgage fraud, according to new information disclosed by James' legal team in a filing on Monday.

The filing, which asks a federal judge to dismiss the criminal charges against James on the basis of outrageous government conduct, reveals some new details about how people inside Fannie Mae viewed the investigation into James and the role that Trump ally Bill Pulte, the nation's top housing regulator, played in shaping the probe.

In June communications between Fannie Mae's Director of Mortgage Fraud Sean Soward and Jennifer Horne, the vice president of financial crimes at Fannie, Soward expressed concern that the case was "certainly not clear and convincing evidence" of fraud, according to the filing.

In Monday's filing, James' attorneys raised questions about how Pulte gained access to their client's non-public mortgage files. They noted that Pulte also sent Halligan a private letter on October 6, providing a summary of the information and financial calculations on the property at the heart of the indictment, as well as information from Fannie Mae's financial crimes investigative team.

Not long afterward, Halligan went before a grand jury in Alexandria to present evidence, even though it was a different grand jury from the one in Norfolk, Va. that had been convened in the case earlier. When a two-count indictment was returned, it bore the "exact calculations Director Pulte had sent to Ms. Halligan just a few days prior," her lawyers said.

"Director Pulte abused his position as FHFA Director to direct an investigation of AG James, outside of the normal processes and rules governing the agency, despite being told repeatedly that there was no evidence of wrongdoing," the filing said.

Reuters previously reported that the White House earlier this month ousted the FHFA Acting Inspector General Joe Allen not long after he tried to provide prosecutors in the James case with crucial, constitutionally required discovery.
Oh, look. With Comey, they said he didn't have one Constitutionally-mandated right, and with James, another. A violation of discovery is probably grounds for a mistrial, but I think James will instead press to have the case dismissed with prejudice. Not even Team Trump believe there's a case.

More or less. While they have no issue throwing as many bones as they can to the evangelicals. Their goals to create a populace who doesn’t question authority align and all.

But they are for shifting power and money to the top first and foremost. Anything that risks costing them isn’t worth it. Once they secure power where they can’t legally be removed, then they either give the evangelicals all they want or just cast them aside as they served their purpose and now must return to their rightful place under the boots of those they put in power.
