As I said in the thread about the mayoral elections; Mamdani's time in the spotlight could've very well faded once he actually settled into office and got off the campaign trail, but Trump and his satellites absolutely refuse to let people forget this guy exists and are doing most of the heavy lifting in keeping the guy a national celebrity.

I think the meeting's just going to be Trump trying to bully the guy like they did Zelensky, or it won't happen because Trump backs off and/or forgets about it

I think it's worth saying again the Zelensky tactic will not work on Mamdani and he can call out their shit for exactly what it is for the world to see if they attempt that. Unlike Zelensky he is not in a position where he has to placate Trump.

In my head cannon if the meeting goes to shit, he turns to Trump and says Who is Bubba and how does his dick taste? I know never going to happen but funny as hell to think that's even a possibility.

My fear, and I hope to god I'm wrong, is that he's going to ICE Mamdani as soon as he gets there. There's been several calls from MAGA to remove him as mayor and deport him.

And MAGA would cheer for it, "He's a Muslim communist!!!!". While they also cheered for him meeting with Saudi Arabia the other day.....

    MAGA is very confused.

In reality I think the whole thing will only be remarkable insomuch that Trump will finally have a face to face with someone who's not kissing his ass or trying to appease his ego for the first time during this term; but otherwise I don't expect fireworks or any kind of 'ownage' beyond Mamdani telling Trump he's wrong about something and the guy has a fit about it.

That is, again, if this meeting even happens and is public.

Yep. When it was correctly pointed out that, no, military does not have to follow illegal orders, let me stress that illegal orders, Trump said such accurate statements was sedition, and suggested having them jailed or killed.

There is no alterative way to phrase this. Trump is defending illegal orders by him, and threatening to imprison or execute anyone who disagrees that he may give illegal orders.
Remember that the GOP during the first il Douche administration thought NPR's yearly tweeting of the Declaration of Independence was a call to revolt.
"Law and Order", lots of places have had that, Russia, North Korea, Saddam's Iraq.
Laws can be made to enforce order of cruelty and brutality.
Equality and Justice, that is how you have peace and a society that benefits all.

Another day, another thing that should have seen him removed from office. Fantastic.

I particularly enjoyed how Leavitt was forced to lie and say that they were telling people to disobey legal orders...because that's literally the only defense they could possibly have for this abject lunacy.

If this happens, or if anyone is prosecuted for "sedition" or "treason" for being critical/condemnatory to the regime, then you've gotta know it's Civil War time. If he can disappear opposing political figures without his regime being torn down, that's just how things are forever until you force it not to be. That's the line that cannot be crossed without uprising.

    If you're legitimately stuck knowing you'll face persecution and abuse for not following unlawful orders under the regime, and prosecuted for following them once the regime collapses, and you don't know what to do;

    1> You're a fuckin' idiot.
2> Quit. That's what you do.

I've quit sketchy jobs over much less sketchy shit.

FOX News reports *ding* that Trump added eleventy mazillion jobs in September.

    "No, they didn't."

Okay no, but they did say Trump said he created 119,000 jobs, double to triple what everyone predicted.

"You're going to claim those numbers are false, aren't you?"

I don't have to. FOX News already did.

Job gains in the prior two months were both revised in the September report, with job creation in July revised down by 7,000 from a gain of 79,000 to 72,000; while August job creation for August was revised down by 26,000 from a gain of 22,000 to a loss of 4,000.

The unemployment rate rose to 4.4% in September, which was higher than economists' expectations.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics noted that federal employment is down by 97,000 jobs since reaching a peak in January. It also noted that federal workers on paid leave or receiving ongoing severance pay are counted as employed in the agency's establishment survey.
Yep, FOX News went directly into the revisions, unemployment, and loopholes. I don't think they're buying it, either.

With August now at a loss, Trump has two negative months, 25% of his total. Biden saw 6.4% unemployment when he took the Oath of Office, reduced it to 4.4% by November, and it stayed lower ever since. Trump has undone four years of progress lowering the unemployment rate. I will remind everyone that, when Trump said there was 42% unemployment, it was Sept 2015, BLS reported then and reports now 5% unemployment. Trump claimed the WH was lying. He's most of the way back to 5% now.

Not including September's numbers, which are false-

"Wait, how do you know they're false?"

I tell you what, let's have this conversation again when they're revised. This number was well over what everyone except Trump predicted, and just about every jobs report he's released has since been revised down. If that doesn't happen this time, come at me. Until then, the evidence is on my side. I'm not the one who fired the head of BLS.

Not including September's numbers, which are false, Trump has an average of 65,000 jobs per month. In 2024, Biden added 167,000 jobs per month on average. It was 216k in 2023 and 379k in 2022. Biden never saw job loss. He had one month below 65,000 and it was Oct 2024. Even if that 119,000 number was true, which it isn't, Biden beat it six times last year, 11 times the year before, and every single month in 2022.

Trump is lying, but what stands out isn't that he's lying, of course. Trump lies all the time about everything.

It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax. This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again! That’s right, as it now turns out, FBI Agents were at, and in, the January 6th Protest, probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists, but certainly not as ‘Law Enforcement Officials.’
Those were FBI agents responding to the murderous insurrection.

What's surprising is that Trump is trying to make a believable lie. Usually he just makes up something ridiculous that's the opposite of true. This time, he's attempting a number higher than the real number, but not ridiculous. And it's not working, because nobody believes him.

    Not even FOX News.

Judge rules Trump sending National Guard to DC was illegal.

Plaintiff then moved for a preliminary injunction and to stay agency action, seeking
to enjoin or stay the deployment of the National Guard in the District for the duration of this
litigation. Defendants oppose the motion and have also moved to dismiss Plaintiff’s suit.

For the foregoing reasons, Plaintiff’s motion for preliminary relief, ECF 3, is GRANTED
against the DOD Defendants. Defendants’ motion to dismiss, ECF 35, is DENIED in part on
those same claims. A separate order accompanies this memorandum opinion. The Court’s order is
administratively STAYED for 21 days, until December 11, 2025.
The plaintiff is DC. They sued, saying what Trump did was illegal and DC suffered irreparable harm. The judge has agreed, and also handwaved Trump's motion to dismiss.

UPDATE: All four Trump Burger restaurants have changed their names.

The Bellville outpost has become President Burger. The one in Flatonia bears signage reading MAGA Burger. The Kemah spot rebranded first as MAGA Burger USA, and then as Freedom Burgers & Beer Garden. The central Houston restaurant closed; it now appears to be in the process of reopening as Empire Pizza.

Roland Beainy, the public face of Trump Burger, declined to comment for this article, and his lawyer did not respond to requests for comment.

Meanwhile, couple Suad Hamedah and Iyad Abuelhawa — who founded the original iteration of this concept, Trump Cafe, in 2016 before bringing Beainy on board then falling out with him — have accused Beainy of stealing the brand from them. They said they’re determined to get it back, and Abuelhawa told the Chronicle he plans to open a Trump Burger in Tomball next month.

“I’m taking the restaurants back from him, because they’re mine,” Abuelhawa said. “Everything is mine.”

The Fayette County Record reported that the Trump Organization had sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump Burger in February about its use of the Trump name. The Chronicle has not been able to independently confirm this with the Trump Organization. Hamedah told the Chronicle in July that she’d received a cease-and-desist letter from the Trump Organization.

Just Two Sectors Account for 100% of US Job Growth in 2025

If you’re looking for a job in health care or hospitality, the good news is US companies are hiring. But employers across the rest of the economy are scaling back.

Headcount in both the health care and social assistance and leisure and hospitality sectors has risen by a combined 690,000 so far in 2025, according to the latest monthly jobs report published Thursday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Excluding those two, total US employment has declined by about 6,000 this year.

The figures underscore the shaky situation for American job-seekers amid dramatic policy shifts by the Trump administration that have put companies on the defense — and still-elevated interest rates that Federal Reserve officials worried about inflation are reticent to bring down.

“What is very clear is that when you strip out the largely non-cyclical and non-interest rate sensitive health care numbers, then job growth continues to be soft,” Rick Rieder, chief investment officer of global fixed income at BlackRock Inc., said in a note.

“We think we are smack dab in the middle of a job market where many employers are holding onto people longer to get a sense for the longer-term requirements, while others have clearly made a decision that they can begin reducing headcount now,” he said.

More accurately, they endorsed him close to the election, which is when most endorsements happen so they're fresh in voters' minds.

The only people who care that Democrats didn't endorse Mamdani early are people who were going to vote for him anyway (or would have, if they lived in New York) and are looking for an excuse to be mad at Democrats. Anyone in New York who was on the fence until he got endorsed by Hakeem Jeffries is much more likely to be swayed if that happens right before they vote for him, rather than months earlier so that they forget by the time voting rolls around.

UnitedHealth is dropping a million seniors from Medicare Advantage as it aims to restore its ‘swagger’

Swagger = profit. Although not stated in the article, I'll bet that the ones dropped are the oldest with the most health issues and the sickest.
