I guess it's because instead of regulating AI datacenters he basically told them to go wild and use all the energy while also holding funds for already agreed energy projects that might have cushioned the impact of said datacenters, or because we're 11 months into his term and due to republican established rules this is now his mess and he must be responsible.

The Trump family is making billions of AI companies and energy shortages, his sons sits on the board of several crypto, AI and pseudo energy companies. He has killed all the green energy initiatives in the US because of his oil donors. The entire US economy now is just a giant grift to enrich his presidency, he's made 5.5 billion dollars so far that we know of who knows how much behind the scenes.

Trump's new Greenland envoy immediately says his priority is making the country part of the US.

President Donald Trump’s newly appointed Greenland special envoy, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said he would work to “make Greenland a part of the U.S.,” reviving tensions with Copenhagen over the self-governing Danish territory.

Trump announced he had appointed Landry, a Republican, in a Truth Social post late on Sunday. The president said Landry "understands how essential Greenland is to our National Security, and will strongly advance our Country’s Interests for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Allies, and indeed, the World."

In his own public message on X directed at the president, Landry called it “an honor” to serve in what he described as a “volunteer position to make Greenland a part of the U.S.” He added that the role “in no way affects” his duties as governor.

“But the people who pay the tariff, if there is a refund, the people who actually paid for the good, the importer, in most cases, they’re the ones who would be the first line of defense for refunding the tariff,” he said. “But I really, really don’t think that’s going to happen, it’d be very complicated. And then that person would be responsible for allocating the tariff refund to the appropriate folks.”

Hassett added, “Yes, it is a mess, and that’s why I think the Supreme Court wouldn’t do it.”

EDIT: I forgot to mention, Hassert in the same interview admitted that the rebate checks Trump keeps promising depend on Congress, which of course everyone reasonable already knew. In other words, this is admission they promised something they could not provide and are going to blame people who never promised it in the first place when they can't do the impossible.

It's actually much worse than that they said it at the start, they want to funnel the tariff money into crypto so that they embezzle it. The supposed "crypto reserve" that they signed into executive order at the start of the administration. US taxpayers will be buying Trump and Melania shit coins for "reserve".
