Which brings up a question. Which is more likely?
A) He does know, and he's lying.
B) He doesn't know, despite people telling him.
I mean, neither option is redeeming.
"What about the option where nobody told him?"
Impossible. Even if he somehow surrounded himself with people unwilling to tell him, he's been in debates and faced the press. He's been told, to his face, multiple times. So, he's either lying, or retarded.

I disagree Trump knows what tariffs are given that his goal is to have tariffs replace all taxation so that his rich friends don't have to pay anything. It's the ultimate regressive tax, the only reason he hasn't implemented it is because he needs congress to change tax law.

It also doesn't pay off to get rid of Trump since he hasn't passed his MAGA cult to anyone and refuses to do so.

of course he is an idiot but in this case his goal was to eliminate taxes for himself and he doesn't care what he has to say. Unfortunately for him the tariffs didn't bring in the bazzilions of dollars he thought they would making his plan DOA. Another reason he is holding onto it is that he thinks tariffs are a major leverage against other countries because he doesn't understand trade. However by breaking deals and using that threat so much no one really cares anymore, China is doing better than ever thanks to him.
That was what I said some pages back.

Yup, unless there is a competing non-tariffed item it is just a tax. And that tax is on the US-consumer and will probably go to some undeserving people like farmers and Trump will make a big deal out of giving the farmers money.

So our reality show president just announced - angrily, on Truth Social, because that's the way he announces everything - that he's going to sign an executive order to force all TV networks to provide an exclusive four-hour broadcast window for the annual Army-Navy football game because he's sick of it getting pushed off for "College Playoff Games and Big TV Money", and that "No other Game or Team can violate this Time Slot!!!"

Whether or not farmers are "deserving" is debatable. Yes Trump screwed them, yes they voted for that at least three times.
However, from the articles I've read, farmers themselves are seeing this supposed $12 billion bailout as too little and too late. It won't undo their votes in 2024, but it won't help Team Trump in 2026. I've already run the numbers in another post and most farmers would about 25% of their losses, unless they went bankrupt of course.
And that's before Trump basically threatened WW3 over fucking Greenland, which will dry up overseas purchases from not just China but hopefully everywhere else. There is no reason to believe China will back away from Russia or Iran, therefore no reason to think Trump will ease up on them, therefore no reason to think they'll resume purchases as if nothing has happened.
On this issue, at least, Trump seems to be hurting people enough that they actually learn their lesson.

Apologies if this has already been talked about, I seem to be missing things lately, but I think it is important to highlight. Because what is happening now is exactly what smart people predicted would happen. Trump tarrifs and aggressive behavoir is pushing his allies away into other directions.
Canada strikes tariff deal with China as global trade moves further from U.S.
That is a big deal!
Canada wants to be 1st in North America to build EV with Chinese knowledge: senior official
America could have been 1st. If Kamala had won. Instead you have a walking toupee with a man-child attached denouncing the evils of EVs. Oh well. How do the non-trump politicians feel?
Schatz says US ‘absolutely rolled’ by China-Canada trade deal
Strong words and well, he said it better than I could have. But he gets paid for it, so I don't feel bad.Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) said Friday Americans would be hurt by a trade deal between China and Canada as foreign nations seek new trade partners amid the Trump administration’s tariff wars.
“We just got absolutely rolled in this Canada – China deal. A stark foreign policy failure with domestic economic consequences,” Schatz wrote in a post on social platform X.
“The most basic principle in politics and geopolitics is loyalty to friends. And we weren’t just disloyal – we were hostile. So here we are,” he added.
Lets look elsewhere?
EU and South America’s Mercosur bloc sign landmark free trade agreement
The European Union and the Mercosur bloc of South American countries formally signed a long-sought landmark free trade agreement on Saturday, capping more than a quarter-century of torturous negotiations to strengthen commercial ties in the face of rising protectionism and trade tensions around the world.
The signing ceremony in Paraguay’s humid capital of Asunción marks a major geopolitical victory for the EU in an age of American tariffs and surging Chinese exports, expanding the bloc’s foothold in a resource-rich region increasingly contested by Washington and Beijing. Now, this deal has been being worked on for 20 years. It can't all be because of trump's policies, but you can bet your sweet potato fries - he sure did help it along. After 25 years of talks, the EU signed the EU-Mercosur trade deal on Saturday, creating a 700 million-person free-trade area. Ratification is still pending, however, with the European Parliament set for a heated debate.
EU chief Ursula von der Leyen on Saturday hailed the choosing of "fair trade over tariffs" as the European bloc signed a major trade deal with South America's Mercosur nations that has been 25 years in the making.
"We choose fair trade over tariffs, we chose a productive long-term partnership over isolation," Von der Leyen said at the ceremony in Asuncion, Paraguay.
My whole political stance pretty much boils down to "I care about other people and the planet" and wow does that make some people mad.

It does take time but that ball is rolling all over Europe as well. Politicians here have been talking about phasing out the US more and more, escalating even further now of course. Trump is moving the entire world towards China and Eurasia because of his dumbfuck tactics.

Yeah, that's kinda my point. Why is it now such a desperate thing. It certainly isn't for this dome shit Trump keeps going on about. Is it just greed, and the need to make rich folks even richer? Or is he trying to expand the US? I've seen people suggest he's trying to create a rival to the UN that he can control even lol
