Honestly, it's generally assumed that most movies have a marketing budget roughly equal to the cost of the movie itself.

That is very true, but that much for marketing for a biopic? Sure, some have gotten that, like Bohemian Rhapsody, but there's no way they thought this movie would be worth $80M+ or ever make its money back. There's no way it took that much to make the movie or be in enough theaters to warrant such a thing.

It’s assumed to be the case for basically every movie. That’s why it’s often said films have to make double their budget to even break even.

If they’re going to “sell” it it’ll probably be to streaming for something to the tune of 100+ million for distribution rights, and it’ll be to some studio with a streaming service that thinks by hosting it they can curry some sort of favorable deal with trump even if no on actually wants to watch the damn thing. See studios trying to cancel Colbert, Kimmel, etc to try and appease Trump to approve buyout and merger deals. Just more rank corporate shilling to the Trump admin and profiteering from Trump’s family.

However, Melania is of course one step removed from the Trump administration so it’s kind of a gamble that his senile ass would remember or care if it came time for his administration to greenlight a buyout in their favor.

Because right now that Republican Texan can see he's getting what he voted for - brown people are being disappeared, liberals are being killed by the government, and his tank of gas is less than $2/gallon. He can visually see that all the suffering he wanted for his white supremacist vote is earning exactly what he expected...and the gas for the Monster Truck which is in no way over compensating for something now costs less than $100 to fill up.
