Think about it, Dems pushing for impeachment pre-Mueller Report is a good thing for Republicans to go around riling up people by saying "look at those angry lunatic Democrats!!". We know how effective scaremongering is with how stupid the GOP base is.

By saying she won't consider it until there's clear evidence from the report, she pulls the rug from under their feet.
This. It's politically stupid to talk about it, an especially move forward with anything, right now. It literally plays into the GOP strategy, it's one of the things they fearmongered about during the midterms and it didn't work for them because Democrats didn't take the bait and talk about impeachment. And the GOP lost. Hard.

She's absolutely, 100% right. Democrats would be better to listen to her here, she's taking a smart strategy that's been paying off so far.

So apparently Trump is scared of the Senate rebuking his national emergency declaration and Pence is now offering an out for Republicans.

Vice President Pence is floating an offer to Republican senators that could lead to the defeat of a Democratic resolution rejecting President Trump’s emergency declaration to build a wall on the Mexican border, according to GOP sources briefed on the matter.

Under the deal offered by Pence, Trump would sign legislation reining in his power to declare future national emergencies if they defeat the resolution of disapproval.

Killing the resolution on the Republican-controlled Senate floor would spare the president a major embarrassment and avoid him having to issue the first veto of his presidency.

But there is some skepticism among GOP senators whether Trump will actually go through with it
. And the plan is hurt by the fact that a bill to curb the president’s power to declare national emergencies won’t come to the Senate floor until after the March recess.
So Trump is promising not to abuse national emergencies if the GOP just allow him to abuse it this one time.

The issue? Republicans don't fucking trust him because he lies about everything.

    Delicious.

Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) on Tuesday vowed to force another House floor vote on impeaching President Trump, a day after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made her strongest statements yet opposing impeachment.

In a media blitz, with an interview with C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" and a press conference in his office, Green pledged to force a third impeachment vote and dared Democratic leaders to try to stop him.

"There will be another vote on impeachment," Green said in the C-SPAN interview. "If you desire to stop me, you but only have to change the rules so that I can't bring a vote on impeachment. Otherwise I will, because the Constitution and the rules allow any one person to bring a vote on impeachment."

    --------------------------------

    A couple of thoughts;

It's quite possible that Pelosi is going to lose a lot of support if she thinks to get all heavy-handed with those that were voted in last year on a more liberal platform. Those such as Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez weren't voted in on some fluke. And mean Al Green from Texas seems ready to fight Pelosi.

There's the other thought; Pelosi might be a snake in the grass for Trump. Saying she can't...and digging in her heels...when in truth, she's got her running shoes on. So when she does say "there's something there, it pulls the rug out from everyone because everyone thinks she will win and get Trump impeached. (also pulling the teeth from the more liberal side. It would be classic FDR move if this is the case)
The House Democrats were perceived as weak a year or two ago. Playing too nice, playing by rules that don't exist, hoping their opponents would suddenly find morality. Pelosi was and is part of that group. Don't forget that even she can be bold at times.

Even if Trump comes out of an impeachment unscathed, you can't let's go uncharged because you're afraid of not landing a conviction.

If Trump is allowed to see 2020 without his seat getting how it means the GOP is untouchable.

If anything she should have never said anything akin to 'he isn't worth it'.

    Oh, fucking ouch.

This, combined with the "how about half?" are the biggest 2 things Pence has done since 2016. I think he realizes he's got a serious problem. I...I think he realizes he'll never be President. He knows the side he picked (Trump, not the GOP) is losing.

So Pence is offering that if they let him do this national emergency that Trump will totally stop using national emergencies and then make sure that in the future to fuck over other president's?

Has Pence been swallowing some fake tan spray?

No, he's doing his job as VP. This is part of the VP's role, especially when the president wants nothing to do with navigating these negotiations and doubly so when his words are meaningless because they can't be trusted.

He's "swallowing" it the same way he "swallowed" it by joining the ticket - he abandoned everything he once believed to follow a charlatan out of nothing but a naked desire for power.

My gut tells me Pence thought Trump would lose the race. And if not, Pence then hoped Trump would get thrown out of the White House, whereinthen he'd take over the role.

Bingo. He's a team player and he took one for the team by agreeing to be his VP to help tamp down the concerns from establishment Republicans. All while knowing there was a non-zero chance that Trump would not make it through his first 4 years and he would succeed him.

Remember when Trump and Republicans said they like immigrants as long as they come the "right" way?

    https://www.npr.org/2019/03/12/70280...ration-offices

The Trump administration is seeking to close nearly two dozen U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services field offices around the world in a move it estimates would save millions per year. But critics argue the closures will further slow refugee processing, family reunification petitions and military citizenship applications.

USCIS spokeswoman Jessica Collins announced on Tuesday the agency is in "preliminary discussions" to delegate its international responsibilities to the State Department, or to its own personnel in the U.S. In some cases, the workload would be absorbed by U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.

"The goal of any such shift would be to maximize USCIS resources that could then be reallocated, in part, to backlog reduction" at the agency, Collins told NPR in an emailed statement.

In a cost analysis conducted last year, USCIS officials estimated phasing out its international offices would save millions of dollars each year.

The USCIS field offices currently assist with refugee applications, family reunification visas and foreign adoptions. They also consider parole requests from people outside the U.S. for urgent humanitarian reasons and process naturalization documents for military members who marry foreign nationals, among other responsibilities.

Another "important function" of USCIS' international offices is "to provide technical expertise on immigration-related matters to U.S. government agencies abroad, including other Department of Homeland Security components, the Department of State and the Department of Defense," the agency explains on its web site.
Yep, they're apparently trying to make that harder as well.

I was curious so I looked it up, and it looks like its population is declining faster than any other state, at least in terms of raw numbers, probably not percentage-wise: https://www.census.gov/newsroom/pres...nal-state.html

I mean probably not that important, but technically I guess it was right?

He took one for the GOP team. Someone from the olde schoole Republicans needed to run with him to give him some credibility --

    "Some weight."

Shh. Pence had a 0% chance of running on his own, and he's a solid GOP guy because he hates gay people and women.
