I believe we've learned, with the last election, that the polls are not the end all be all of elections. And this is coming from someone who thinks Sanders is by far the better candidate.

The problem with having a long career in public office is that if you're not consistent and honest, your comments come back to bite you pretty often. Hard.

Trump orders WH staffer to ignore a subpoena to testify before Congress.

No, this is Carl Kline, now in the DoD but at the time was part of handing out Trump security clearances like bankruptcies to Trump casinos. The HOC demanded he testify after it was made public how these clearances were basically "because Trump said so" on people who failed background checks and, for example, did business deals on the side or beat their wives. Plural. Fuck that guy.

Yes, and Trump is telling him not to do that. Yes, refusing to appear before a legit Congressional subpoena will get you in jail. It sounds like Trump is willing to let this guy go to jail, despite his apparent willingness to testify, rather than let him speak under oath.

That sounds like obstruction of justice to me. Plus we've had that discussion before: once he's pardoned, he can't invoke the 5th anymore.

And then the HJC issues another one. At some point, Trump will prove he wanted his friends and family to have security clearances they didn't earn, by refusing to let the person who issued them tell the truth about the matter.

Now, if that's true, then it says a lot about "only the best people" Trump wants. We just had someone ditch the post, the opportunity to do what he feels is right for the country, because it doesn't pay him personally.

Or, it's false, and he and/or Trump came up with this story -- thinking it was redeeming -- rather than tell the truth. That truth, by the way, is likely "I am not qualified."
