Think of it like surfing. You have to paddle towards the shore before the wave hits, in order to have any kind of chance of not getting buried under it. And even if you manage to get it right, it's still mostly a matter of when, not if, you'll fall. You're just trying to maximize the amount of time you're on top of things.

Romney officially proposed paying everyone $1000 today to respond to the coronavirus. Like some sort of income for everyone. Just universally applied.

The left might end up as the conservative party by the end of the month if they don't keep up with this radical communism!

I think the Republicans becoming desperate enough is the only way that progressive programs like Medicare for all and basic income are going to be passed in America. I say this, because you know if the Democrats or Progressives try to pass these plans then some conservative court in the country will just whine about it to the Supreme Court and then that plan will be dismantled, just like they're doing to the ACA, but if it's the Republicans that come up with the idea then they won't complain about it.

Not a single trade was processed on opening, it "Open-Closed" as I said it would. Volume was 0.

lol consumer money right now is not the problem.

They need to keep people employed for pay yes, but also benefits....investments, 401k, pensions...etc etc....

If they are going to give money, give the money to businesses with full enforcement that they have to keep their workers on the books and keep paying them, keep their benefits active even if they do not show up to work.

If you give 1000 bucks a month to everyone...won't help much if 20 million people lose their jobs and in return LOSE THEIR HEALTHCARE/INSURANCE and all other benefits.

They should immediately make pass a bill that forces companies to continue benefits at the same cost structure as today and cost sharing even if they lose their job for the next 120-180 days. No fucking lame ass COBRA no one can afford.

I remember well the first time I was laid off from a corporate job, way back in 1998, and part of the package was cobra coverage. The cobra cost, pre-employer contribution, was over four times the coverage cost while I was employed and the health coverage was significantly less. What a freaking racket that is.

or 2020. It will be clear to the republicans that they need an alternative to Trump well before their convention. My bet is that Romney will take it. He is the most anti-Trump republican there is.

So you're going to double down that .01 seconds isn't within the first minute?

One of the more liberal websites for quite some time, at least as far as foreign policy goes, has been The American Conservative. As the democratic party more and more becomes the party of the billionaires, people who are not so interested in being so subservient to them still exist and end up going SOMEWHERE.

nah its regulated to be the same cost that you and your employer paid while you were employed, not more.
You just didn't know prior to 2014 what they were paying.

after that it was printed on your w2 each year in box 12 with code DD.

Go take a look at how much was paid for insurance, you'd be shocked
    Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!

That's not what I am arguing. Stop arguing every little detail and look at the whole intent and grow up.

it open closed. ZERO trades happened. it did not even make it to ZERO seconds.
So even .01 was wrong since no trades occurred and the market never technically opened. .00000001 would have been wrong too.

    I was also wrong too.
    Get over it.
    Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!

I did know what my company, Autodesk, was paying. It was marked clearly on my pay stub. The difference pre and post layoff were huge, 4x huge. Give me a few, I still have all documents. I'll pull them out and double check.

They shouldn't have billed you more than the total cost between employee + employer prior to layoff.

Not sure if the 2 percent service charge still applies?

The example the gov gives is as followed:

    COBRA Example
Let’s say you have $125 taken from each paycheck for health insurance. You get paid twice per month, so your portion of the monthly premiums is $250. Your employer contributes $400 per month toward your health insurance premiums, so the total cost of your job-based health plan is $650 per month.

To figure the 2 percent service charge, multiply that $650 monthly premium by 0.02. You’ll get $13. Add this $13 service charge the $650 premium cost and your COBRA health insurance cost will be $663 per month.

And the remaining GOP are all spineless (or insane) sycophants. I would think the 25th would be considered at this point, but no one left would even have the guts to try it.

Hitler ran into the same problem - firing/killing all his good generals and advisers. Left him with yes-men who rode into the fire with him.

    a basic income right now isn't possible. that's three-trillion a month.

if everything is shut down, nobody's out spending that money to recycle it through the economy, it absolutely cannot work and would make things worse in the long run. we don't have the proper taxes in place, we don't have the proper cuts to spending in other areas, it's just not feasible in any way at this current time.

even in an economy that's not being wracked by pandemic, this would be such a monumental task.
